A person can forgive a lot if someone is honest and acknowledges their flaws, not to gain pity but to admit they are a person who can make mistakes. James Charles seems like the first person to admit that he can be a little bit extra and immature sometimes, which ironically makes him a mature person. I only follow this stuff casually so I could be wrong, but he seems to be working on his balance between doing his own thing and being himself and holding himself accountable when he messes up. I know that this has been mentioned numerous times, but James is only 19. When I was 19 , all of my worst qualities were genuinely sabotaging my life. If it had come out that these allegations were false and he had never said anything on the topic, people would have been okay with that. But Charles took a long look and saw this as a chance to learn something. I don't watch James Charles because his style is just a bit too extra for me , but I find myself respecting him more and more as a person.

I totally agree with you. I think it can be hard to admit that someone you looked up to, especially someone you know/talk to, wasn't who you thought they were. I know for me, just as a viewer, it was hard to admit that Shane has always been a problematic, bad person - and part of that was the fact that I didn't watch him in the really early days where he was doing blackface and other openly racist or otherwise gross stuff, and I also wasn't plugged into fandom on other websites where I could have learned about those things from other people. After learning about that stuff, it was hard to reconcile the person I thought he was with the person he actually is. I've finally managed to admit it and stop watching and supporting his content with my viewing power. All this to say, I'm sure she'll figure this out for herself and in her own way, hopefully soon, especially with people like you and me expressing our points of view in the comments.

Honestly, as an adult, you also have a choice of not seeing your family. Especially people who are from abusive households and or things they just disagree with. You still HAVE a choice. Every time. Don't blame his fans about him turning out the way he did. A lot of people have had their ego boosted trough the roof as you said but didn't get problematic. I was watching shane for a shitload of time cause 1. I didn't know that doing black face and saying the n word was offensive cause i was young af and didn't know anything basically and 2. As a kid i thought he was funny af in some of his videos and spent hours laughing at them. The fact that he turned out the way he did has nothing to do with his fans, it has to do with the people he chose to hang out with and grown ups that actually knew what was going on not holding him accountable from the beginning. Don't blame the fans cause many of us didn't even know what was going on and what was wrong :/

As someone with mental health issues I agree. It can cause you to do some things, but you still have to say "I screwed up." I, and friends of mine have bailed on commitments because of anxiety. Doesn't make it hurt less when things fall through, but it is a reason. I have been irritable with people who don't deserve it because of depression. But guess what? I can still look back on those situations and say "I made a promise to be there. It was important to you and I missed something and I'm sorry, I wasn't really thinking of you." Or "Yeah I was a complete dick to you for absolutely no reason and you didn't deserve that and im sorry." Mental health can make unfavorable things happen. But in the end once its said and done you have to look back on those times and take accountability and address it.

@Ashley Cortez Shane is backing up and defending J* who literally bullied James to the point of contemplating suicide and made very critical allegations of James, saying he is a 'danger to society' etc etc. Shane is excusing Jeffree's actions and need to see competition fail because he is 'jeffree fucking star what do you expect' but then said James needed a 'humble pie' for being too egocentric even though J*'s whole personality is being a fame hungry, egocentric, inhumane asshole. So James who thought that he could be friends with Shane only to end up having his favourite creator (Shane) back up someone who ruined his life and caused him contemplate suicide.

He was surpassing them in popularity and, yeah maybe on some level it was getting to his head, but that’s not really a bad thing, especially when the people judging him for that are Jeffree and Shane. He had been inviting to openings and the Met Gala and product launches and jealousy set it. So they “humbled” him. Shane acts like what happened was a good thing.

People are old enough to know that the internet misinterprets everything, so the fact that so many people just watched Tati's video and just started hating on James without fully knowint and/or understanding the situation, is what eventually drove James to being suicidal.

But at the same time it’s not like Tati could have expected anything else. She made her issues with James public knowledge and tried to cancel him, she literally titled her video “bye sister”. She was literally calling on the most “toxic” of cultures, cancel culture. Of course people reacted the way they did, it was the only information available at the time. Tati, Shane, and Jeffrey we’re grown adults when they did this, to a teenager at that. I’m more so speaking on what I see as Shane trying to scapegoat the internet and distance himself from blame when he himself along with others very willingly enabled and encouraged the hate or at least supported one side, giving more credibility to the argument presented. While some fans are grown it’s undeniable that a large portion of eithers audience is young, as “influencers” they should know better.

Shane hired him for a an ongoing show that he decided to do and Bobby picked up his life and moved to LA for it. Then Shane cancelled the show almost immediatelyand completely dropped Bobby like he never existed. His career never recovered.
