I can only imagine how much courage and confidence it takes to rearrange an iconic Queen song and then start off singing it acapella for all the world to hear. That is risky! Angelina has the incredible ability to know when to let a song breathe and when to show her chops. She has been doing this since she was 6yo. "I Put a Spell on You" is an incredible performance recorded when she was 9yo and released when she was 10yo. Patchy, you are spot on. When I heard this the first (and 20th and 100th) time, my jaw just dropped. I hear Nora Jones and Amy Winehouse in there, but Angelina definitely has a style all her own. I am a 67 year old man, a former jazz musician and music teacher, and I cry every time I watch this. I hope she has managers who will have her best interests at heart and not just the money. After seeing this, I watched other videos of her on KZfaq. Some were outstanding, some were OK. A big concern I have is that they are over-sexualizing her. She's 13 years old, for God's sake. Let her be a teenager and allow her to grow into the superstar she is destined to be!

I haveseen so many reactions to her GB video over the last few days, but I can tell you are someone that "gets" her immediately. Yup, wow just wow pretty much sums it up. To those of us who have been following Angelina it's not surprising. When she started I was surprised by her song choice but a few seconds in I couldn't have been happier...man, what a job she did with thios one.

You are one of the very few who has talked about taking a god-given talent and working hard to improve it. I've always thought it was an obligation for those with special talents, and I'm not even a Lutheran! There is another young talent with a remarkably special voice who has never done a whole lot to get better. That singer is enjoying a moderate career now as a teen becoming a young adult but I've always wondered what could have been if she had worked at it. Angelina, of course, brings us a rare talent and she puts in the time to make it better. Her arrangement of this piece is such a typical example. It's seems now she reached the level where she can do just anything she wants with that beautiful voice she was given at birth. Already from the start 1:11, she proves it with that seamless drop in to her deep chest voice and up again. Then she continues with amazingly beautiful vibratos and melismas that just knocks your socks off. She is 13. 13! Since she won the Golden Buzzer she will go straight to the finals. I think I saw her mom jumping up and down when this happened. Her family is seated together in the front. I love she is with her family, protected from predators. She won Norway's Got Talent singing jazz at 7 years old. First acapella was I'm a Fool to Want You. Then the first audition was Gloomy Sunday, both by Billie Holiday. Find her 9 year old singing of I Put a Spell in You. (It's the Hawkins version). The first time I listened I had to turn it off part way to get my balance back. At 12 she wrote 3 songs, Oslo, Shield, and What is Life. She has been in the US recording an album of all originals. It's ready but hasn't been "dropped" yet. I figure that has to be related to the AGT competition.

She is a prodigy. Winning Norways got talent at 7 years old. And she arranges the songs herself and writes original songs too. She is generous too If you noticed she always performs barefoot. The reason is when she was younger she was on a trip with her parents and grandmother when she met a young street girl about her age selling trinkets in the street to help support her family Angelina noticed she had no shoes and her feet were scared and sore so Angelina gave the girl her shoes and vowed that she always from that point on perform barefoot until all the children of the world had shoes that needed them!! And to that end she started a foundation to help all people in poverty !! She is currently 17 years old and becoming very successful in her career.

It is hard to compare Angelina even with herself, She has so many different voices, this song was a very soft jazz sound, there is another side of her at 9 years old that will blow you out of your chair with the sheer power of it and that is the black and white video of "I Put A Spell on You". Then she does do covers of Amy Winehouse but she had to change some of the lyrics to be age-appropriate, she can handle Lana Del Ray, Adele, Elvis, many of the old classic jazz. And then there is her original music. Set back and enjoy the ride.

Every beautiful note-phrase and intonation set aside for a moment, when she sings, ''Sending shivers down my spine'' is a spiritual sensation. This genius 13yo (14 as of a few days ago) arranged this to nail a USA audience used to loudness, runs, high notes and theatrics, and she did it with spectaculer style. I laughed at the intro. I don't think that's ever happened before. It's worth a like, all on it's own. If I find a crappy reaction from you, I'll give it there, because this reaction needs a like of its own. How did a thumbs up become complicated...? I feel your pain. I hate talent shows. I absolutely loathe them. Even so, Angelina is dragging me as well, kicking and screaming, into watching this. At almost 14 during this audition, and completely 14 now, she has been working at it for twelve and a half years. Insistent voices have it that she started singing jazz when she was one and a half, on her own, after listening to classical jazz at her grandmother's, and to the frustration of her mother, who had imagined baby's first song to be "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". It's that old story: You plan for your kids, and then they go and screw it up by being prodigies. I was much better behaved. At 50, I'm still working on "Twinkle Twinkle..."

Well, I love your reaction almost as much as her performance; but not quite. You said, "and she hasn't even got to the crazy part yet", and of course she never did because she changed the entire mood of this song. The song comes off with a completely different vibe with her version. It's now a bluesy jazz song about (at least my interpretation) how loss of love can bring one to lose the will to live. But the beauty of it is that everyone will make their own interpretation. Kinda like a lovely poem that leaves the reader to fill in the meaning. And then there's her delivery of the song. WOW!!
