It was the same situation when I first saw this video and was hooked. No idea who this was but I probably watched it 20 times that night. I have never heard anyone sing like that. Dove right in and I discovered a whole new outlook on music. I'm pretty sure you will be reacting to more of Angelina's music and just want say that you will not be disappointed. She had just turned 9 in this video, and tomorrow, Jan. 10th, she turns 15. She was signed by Republic Records a couple months ago, and has released one song since signing, (Million Miles) that she wrote. This is the 4th she has written, the other three she wrote when she was 11 & 12. She has also had 2 songs written for her to sing. Quincy Jones had her sing at his 85th birthday celebration, and told her he has only seen one other child singer that impressed him as much as her. That was Michael Jackson. As talented as Angelina is, she is an even better human being, vowing to perform barefoot until every child on Earth has shoes. Here is a bio I compiled for her which includes the reason why she is barefoot. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman, who has chosen to keep his life private. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age after listening to Whitney Houston on KZfaq. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet and married a Japanese man who passed away in 2019. Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farci, English and Japanese. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where she received vocal training starting around age 4. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina so moved by the poor girl, took off her favorite sea green ankle boots and gave them to the poor shoeless girl. Angelina promised the girl she would perform barefoot until every child on Earth has shoes. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina asked her mother to enter her in Norway’s Got Talent (NGT) at age 5 but that talent show had a minimum age requirement of 7. Angelina at age 6 did record a few songs in a recording studio, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 6 year old.

I'll try not to repeat too much info that the other "angels" have mentioned, other than I've watched all of her performances from age 6 to 14. I've never heard anyone like this girl. At any age from any era. We are witnessing greatness in the making. As a fellow Canadian (as if you couldn't tell) I will say that watching Angelina "grow up with a microphone" would be like watching Wayne Gretzky "grow up on skates". I've always wondered if Angelina would show up on your channel. I am so glad that she did. Just dive down the rabbit hole. Her arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody on America's Got Talent to Champions season 2 is stunning. Queen, probably Brian May, called her and gave her his Blessing for her Arrangement. You just stumbled on to the most versatile, amazing vocal artists in my lifetime & I'm in my 70's. This is from nearly 6 years ago & today she turns 15. You should see/hear her today. She is no longer a little girl, she is a statuesque (6 ft), beautiful young woman with 1000 voices of the angels. Her 4th original song, but her 1st since she signed with Republic Records is called Million Miles & it's about the loss of her grandpa. However, a couple of weeks ago she released a stripped down "Live in studio" version of her singing it & I always prefer seeing her. She speaks 4 to 5 languages including Japanese. She's been singing since she was 18 months old. Her grandmother, who lives in the middle east introduced her to jazz.
