O M G another super great reaction. First let me say that I am 79 years young, and I grew up with a dad that loved jazz, and this reaction and Angelina Jordan, my dad, really teared me up. Hi, I have been watching Angelina since she was 8yr old, I am 67 and I just love her her voice is just memorizing I will tell you she can sing any song and sound beautiful, rich jazzy voice, I am glad you like her the older she got the better she sounds! Thank you for your reaction!❗💜

As you can hear in this video, Angelina isn't copying either one of these jazz icons. She incorporates all the jazz greats into her own version, just as you would expect from the jazz legend known as Angelina Jordan. The fact that she was barely 8 yo when she did this is mind blowing. Thanks for this comparison reaction.

The first time I heard this song was in 1972 when the great Miss Ella Fitzgerald sang it at Baalbek international festival in Lebanon. The festival is held yearly outdoors between the ancient Roman ruins of the temple of Bacchus. Against the advice of her doctor that she may cause permanent damage to her vocal chords due to some kind of illness that she had, she went ahead and delivered an unforgettable performance. Her comment about not wanting to miss the Festival even if she never sings again is still engraved in my memory with the utmost respect. Angelina Jordan is definitely on her way to be one of the Jazz greats of all time. Thank you for posting this video and keep up the good work

Well done! Thank you. Your appreciation for the old jazz is rather rare among younger people, but it certainly plays a role in your appreciation for Angelina's astonishing gift. This is the music I grew up with. I had the great good fortune of seeing Louis in concert in 1957, and in 1956 I saw Ella perform live with Jazz At The Philharmonic. Most memorable, especially Ella!

That video you put together was pure magic , a masterful combining of three super world class voices, and that one was a child of 8 is just indescribable . for a 8 year old to stand toe to toe with those voices is just.... just.... sorry I cant find the words I need. thank you for your dedication to the "Barefoot Princess of Song".

Thanks for this, Debra. In many cases it helps to gain perspective when we listen to the songs Angelina sings before hearing her interpretation. After this performance, Bjarte, one of the male judges, commented: "It won't help, Angelina--no matter how many times you say, 'Don't you cry'. I can't help but cry. You know I promised you and myself not to cry, but you hit something inside me whenever you sing, and you hit something in many people when you sing. And I'm thinking to myself, in 10 years you are 18 years old--I think that is unimaginable. I don't know what more I should say, Angelina. You sing so amazingly good."

An astonishing montage makes the evaluation of that magical girl even more impossible ... by practically refining herself, at an age in which the little girls normally plays with dolls, she was able to compare herself, without absolutely disfiguring, with 2 immense stars of jazz. If they had been alive they would surely have embraced her, just as we would like to do, once we stopped crying. Thanks Debra for the sweetness, sensitivity and skill with which you gave us this jewel. ❤️❤️

As I've said many times, Angelina's covers can only benefit from close comparison to the originals, and this video is definitely proof of that. I've done this same thing before, just for myself, and I was impressed by the way Angelina uses the same general vocal arrangement of Ella's, but without sounding anything like Ella. To me, it sounds like she's modeling her vocal more on Dinah Washington (although I have yet to find Dinah Washington singing this particular song). BTW, in case listeners didn't catch it, there is irrefutable proof that this version by Ella and Louis is the exact recording that Angelina is basing her performance on, at 6:23 in this video, where you can hear Angelina singing softly to herself, away from the microphone, "Don't you say, oh…" at the same point in the song that Louis "ad libs" the same line. Very cool.

I caught that on about the 30th viewing over the past month since I became aware of AJ that on that specific break, as she seemingly takes an intake of breath, almost completely to herself (ie. away from the microphone) she speaks a quick riff sequence of words. I had been left with what I guessed to myself that it would always be a big mystery to me what she was doing there. And as I watched Debras amazing mash of the trio of legends together I heard at 6:24 Louis distinctly speaking what you’ve deciphered for us. This find brings me high joy. I’ll be forever amazed as to why Angelina chose to incorporate Mr. Armstrong’s vocal riff into her interpretation!?! It’s phenomenal, as if she was singularly extolling gratitude to one of her jazz legend mentors. So much appreciation to you Debra for creating this art of the legends together🌹

A lot of people don’t make the connection between Ella Fitzgerald and Angelina, but Angelina went to school on Ella every day and twice on Sunday. Yes, she has the flavor of Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Etta James, and many others, but it’s all pinned together with Ella Fitzgerald who could sing anything and make you love it. In fact Angelina’s style today is heavily influenced by Ella Fitzgerald, that’s why we are so addicted to her, but for her to understand and produce that sound at 7 or 8 years old is incredible, and to fashion it into her own style by the time she was 12 is incomprehensible! This is the clip of Ella singing “Summertime” that shows where Angelina learned how to use her voice as another instrument, and notice the stripped down instrumental and the slowing of the tempo, something Angelina uses to perfection. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q5iSnMqXmJmbkYk.html

I have suffered through most reactions to Angelina with bad sound,bad picturequality,syncing problems and bad editing and you surprised me today. Everything absolutely perfect. 🧡. I never got to enjoy Ms. Ella's performances in person, however, I was one of the fortunate ones to enjoy her company in person. I was a room service waiter in the early 80s in Dallas, Texas. She was a guest of our hotel and I brought her breakfast one morning. In the mere few minutes with her in her room, I felt as if I was in the presence of a dear grandmother. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever met in my 65 years. It seemed as if she wanted me to stay and keep her company. I regret not being able to do just that. I will take that memory with me to my next plain of existence and hope to find her there where I can do just that. Thank you for igniting that memory again and for this great piece of music.

This must enter the Hall of Fame of Angelina Jordan Reaction creations. Great ART!!! Thank you Debra!!!!!!! This solved the mystery as reflected in Louis’s vocal riff at 6:24, which Angelina recreates away from mic as she seemingly is having an intake of breath. This one accomplishment is a STAND OUT JOB!!!! Had to watch it again and you're still lovely and Angelina is now 16 1/2 yrs old... Awesome job with the side by side. I have listened to her hundreds of times, and I still can't wrap my head around what she does and how she does it. As a jazz musician its just hard to phantom that a little girl could reproduce all of the subtle nuances. She has an crazy vibrato, outstanding phrasing and an amazing feel for the music, not to mention she is changing the arrangements to suit her voice. She is singing songs that require musical aptitude. it's not about about hitting notes or being on pitch as it is with most child singing . These are not straight forward songs. I have heard many wonderful little singers with great talent, but this girl is on a whole different level. How many 7 year old girls are singing this type of music.. most of them have probably not even ever heard of legendary artist like Ella or Billy Holiday or Frank Sinatra. I can't wait to see where she takes this gift. Unfortunately her music is from an era long gone, but I have a feeling that she is going to be able to take her amazing skill set and apply to more contemporary music. I have some of her originals and she exactly that. A true gift to the world, I just hope that all the world gets to hear the beautiful little girl sing. simply amazing!!!!

Thank you for this videos beauty. This is the music I grew up with in the 50’s. This is when performers had to really have talent. Angelina Jorden has this same type of talent. She is going to become a super talent.

Wow what a great compilation! You are a magician (or a musician) to put that trio together so precisely. When I first saw Angelina I thought she was Billie Holiday reincarnated, but by the end of the show I decided that she was Ella Fitzgerald reincarnated. Which one of them desperately wanted to be a superstar? I thought Billie because she died youngest. But neither of them lived in superstar times. Only other one I can think of is Amy Weinhouse...but she didn't have the discipline Angelina has. Which takes me back to Ella, who had both the discipline and the maturity that I think angelina has. It's hard to tell. We won't really know until she goes through adolescence.

I have enough years to know how Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald sound, my parents loved them so I developed my music preferences starting with Jazz and blues. Angelina Jordan she's a rare precious stone, we haven't seen her real potential.

Most of the reactors haven’t a clue as to who Ella or Sachmo were, let alone ever heard Summertime. They lack music knowledge. One young reactor said that Angelinas voice was a throwback to the 80’s, I just had to laugh. Kudos to you and the beautiful work you did to combine these legends. For me Ella has always been the greatest female vocalist, and Louis, well he revolutionized all of 20th century music. Angelina is the first voice that might equal Ellas.
