Angelina gave this performance an extra helping of tenderness and reverence due to the importance of the cause that Narges is fighting for in Iran. Great reaction, I think you nailed the feelings many of us have about Angelina. We are indeed very proud of this young woman. Thanks to her family being gracious enough to share all of the many videos, we feel included like part of the family!

My darling, you have no idea how many listeners cried along with you. A special performance by Angelina we will always remember. She sang it directly to the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize Award and her family. She is currently, and has been, in an Iranian prison for speaking out for women's rights and the oppression of women in general. Her two children (twins, a boy and a girl) and her husband now live in France. A couple of years ago the Iranian officials said they would release her from prison if she would agree to stop talking about women's rights. Narges Mohammadi met with her family and told them she missed them so much, loved them dearly and would love to be reunited with them, BUT, she told them she could never agree to do what they asked, to be quiet. So, she continues to be imprisoned and the world has taken notice. A woman reactor who knew the story watched Angelina sing the song and she knew (like all of us) that it was a very emotional moment for her. Angelina was quoted as saying she was, indeed, very sympathetic and hopes the situation will be resolved. The woman reactor said she could see traces of tears on Angelina's face that her makeup could not hide. The woman sounded very convincing. If Angelina felt that strongly about her appearance there and singing such a song directly to Narges Mohammadi and her family, it didn't stop her from performing a stirring and perfect work of art for all of us to cherish.

Adrianna, a standing ovation was proper. Even more proper is to shed tears for Narges Mohammadi and her twin children who are Angelina's age. Once the tears are shed, then action is warranted to spread the story of Narges to have the world join in a chorus for her release from jail. Every time I listen to her performance for this concert I am blown away by the utter beauty of her, her voice, the orchestra, this performance. I'm not sure our ears can feel more love than this. The recipient for this year's award was Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian dissident, now in an Iranian prison for her outspoken messages and activism for women's rights. Narges' two twin children spoke on her behalf at this event prior to Angelina's singing. They are Angelina's age and haven't seen their mother in years. She was able to speak with both before her performance. I'm sure this performance was a very poignant moment for Angelina--one quarter Iranian herself, and whose grandmother Mery is full Iranian. If you watched any of the videos of Angelina, you know the love between her and her grandmother is palpable--it's a beautiful thing to behold. I loved everything about this performance, and I appreciate your obvious caring for this lovely young women, no longer girl, as well.

The first song I ever heard Angelina sing was “Unchained Melody” back when she was 9 years old… I’ve been listening to “Unchained Melody” since 1955. Long before the Righteous Brothers covered it in 1965. The song was waiting for this moment and Angelina to come along. Written for a movie where a prisoner is longing for his wife… In the movie, Todd Duncan sings the song from a prison cell he shares with other inmates... But, this is the real deal now. A real tragedy. Angelina is singing for the Nobel laureate. A women’s rights activist who is sitting in an Iranian prison cell facing 31 years of sentences. She hasn’t seen her family in 9 years. And, they’re sitting there in front of Angelina as she sings... Imagine the emotion… Angelina presents this song softly, delicately and respectfully.
