No autotune. She is just pitch perfect. She isn't just a great singer, she is an accomplished composer and arranger. She has been quite aware of the placement, purpose, tone, and tabor of every note she sings and how it makes the whole song achieve her objectives. She really is much more than a singer. Just an amazing prodigy. I enjoy your emotion and your technical analysis when you do reactions. I've seen many reactions from many different people. I rate yours the best technical analysis. I'd like to see you do more reactions to Angelina. Every one of her performances are just amazing. And she is so versatile.

Already in 2020 in AGT you could hear her perform those runs and fry effects, and bohemian rhapsody is the proof she'll never need autotune : she starts it a capella and is straight pitch perfect (just look at the face Simon makes hearing that... he was stunned !) She's really matured but without loosing what made her so great when she was younger : her soul and charisma.

I'm 81 and have been singing and loving all types of music my whole life, that has always led me to the conclusion that while vocal techniques are very important you can never get away from the most important things in music, making people feel your voice or instrument! Angelina makes you feel what she sings! Many have compared her to contemporary artists like Amy Winehouse or Adele, but I think that is because they draw their music from the same sources, like Elvis, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and Etta James, among others! Angelina's grandma is Mery Zamani, a world famous painter with a lot of passion for her art and she has passed that passion to Angelina in her artistry of song! Where you see Angelina Mery is usually there close! Mery directs and produces much of Angelina's videos and provides much of the art work! It was Mery who was there to guide her through learning about jazz music and Elvis! Her hair reflects her love for Priscilla Presley, I suspect that also influenced Amy Winehouse! Her mom Sara Astar is always there for support and encouragement, her little sister Juliette is her constant companion and helpmate, Her uncle Michael is her Manager, they all keep her grounded and encouraged! Angelina Jordan Astar is going to do great things because she is so firmly grounded in her passion, empathy, skill, and just life in general! I look forward to many more reactions from you, one I would suggest to you next would be I'd Rather Be Blind an Etta James cover from a blue couch!

Elizabeth, thank you for your wonderful reviews! As other commenters have noted, your easy, natural expressions and non-verbal responses are often all one needs to understand the basics of your feelings about what you are hearing/seeing. Thanks! As an olde over-the-hill, web-footed, academic who has only recently discovered the miracle that is Angelina Jordan, it is so very hard for me to explain how she can crack into my crusty psyche or armored soul and cause all the appropriate heartstrings to resonate with her voice and, even more, with her emotions. However, your expressions and explanations often make it clear how I may understand at least a part of the process - and, additionally, feel good about the parts I can't really quantify, but can certainly enjoy. Total aside - being a cephalopodiatrist of sorts, I quite love the big-eyed orange critter on your desk, is it an octopod, decapod, or ... "other?"

I also wondered if the song ended a bit too soon, but then I wondered if, perhaps, Angelina was making a statement demonstrating the seemingly abrupt ending of our loved ones lives, leaving us feeling like there should've been a bit more to their existence. ❤️

I cannot understand how views for Angelina's Million Miles songs are calculated. Every time I watch one to the end, and leave the commercials intact (which is supposed to help the artist) I look at the total views minutes later and they do not show my recent activity. Angelina's official music video only has about 234K as of today 2/2/2021 but that will grow and grow Here are a few of her cover songs views: Back to Back 9.1M I Have Nothing 9.8M Feelin Good 3.6M Bang Bang 4.3M Born to Die 1.5M Young and Beautiful 1.2M Stay 1.3M Can't Help Falling in Love 3.3M Can't Take my eyes off of you 1.2M Yellow Brick Road 4.8M Bohemian Rhapsody 2.2M Lonely 775K My Way 790K Love Story 851K Diamonds are Forever 897K Million Miles (studio) 987K Million Miles(Lyric) 473K Million Miles official music Video 234+K Heal the World 779K as of last week. Not bad considering most of these were done when she was 10/11/12 years old, and why some of us fans consider her a LEGEND already.

Lyrics Million Miles by Angelina Jordan When I was child I walked the streets They see me growing up Knew you were all I need I see him in myself through all the years It's like he's in my tears I think what he's given me The smiles and the memories But now he's not here to hold my hand In the light of the blue sky I'm not alone to fight I'll never regret what I do We're a million miles apart Is pulling my heart Like an empty bubble to be thrown Now I can't make it stop But I know in my hеart I know that I'm never alone I know that I'm nеver alone I know that I'm never alone Never alone Never alone, no He said I'm watching you from the moon I'm everywhere, see everything you do I can't see you but I know your here It's like you're in my tears I think what he's given me The smiles and the memories But now he's not here to hold my hand In the light of the blue sky I'm not alone to fight I'll never regret what I do We're a million miles apart Is pulling my heart Like an empty bubble to be thrown I can't make it stop But I know in my heart I know that I'm never alone I know I'm never alone I know that I'm never alone I wonder when I close my eyes Are you in my dreams tonight? I wonder if, I wonder if I wonder are your friends the stars? She deserves to be way bigger than she is. She don't sound like any other - meaning; have you heard her sing, you would know it's her, if her voice came on the radio. But im glad she does it her own way, and aren't just in it to become a star ASAP...and just wants to get megahits fast, and become rich and famous.. She doesn't care about that at all. So mature and grounded, even at 6 yo. Also the amount of faith she has in herself, and the way she does things. Behind her i her mother. who is just amazing. Not pushing her, - like many parents do. Making them these immature brats.. Like Jojo Siva is a good example of. or rather her mother. Who benefits on her daughter's success, and...just... blah.. making her daugher into a brand for kids. HAving her face on toys, clothes, bed-linen etc. Just spoiled her to the moon. That's where Angelina really shines. She's always been grounded, and also unfraid. She' still as a young girl, only sixteen. Eventhough it feels she's older, because she have showed herself to the world already, and already been around for some time. She is also so brave, and trust herself and what she does, or rather - Loves it. With control, and her originality, the way she meet these big songs head on: I put a spell on you - putting her unique style on it at 6...y...o! Then..at 13; AGT.. The Bohemian Rhapsody, and also Yellow Brick Road.. If I didn't know it was Queen and Elton John, i would think it was her song, which it actually, kinda becomes, as original she makes it her own. No one had heard it done - non of them - in the way she did. Again... She was thirteen. She is an example of those people; She didn't choose music, and ''i want to be famous superstar'', but instead one of those people where music found her; She's born to do what she does. At thirteen she was already where most are much later. AND SHES STILL JUST at SIXTEEN.... That's 1-6... 16.. She don't need to hurry. Just keep working and walking the roasd shes walking. We gonna hear more from her... Guarantied! Looking forward t it alraedy

Angelina not only sings with great feeling, she also writes with great feeling. Her original songs are all so real, and about meaningful things. He first "What is Life"... the name says it all... it's an 11 year old contemplating what life is. Her second song "Oslo" is about her home in Norway, and how her heart will always be there. Her third song "Shield" is about her family and how they always keep her protected. And now this song written to cope (and help others cope) with loss of a loved one. There's absolutely nothing superficial... just real messages about real things. This is the kind of artist the world needs more of. Regarding the possible autotune... you mentioned that some singers are able to achieve the autotune effect with their raw vocals. Having watched this girl amaze over and over again with the vocal techniques she is able to master, I have little doubt that if this is a thing that _can_ be done, then Angelina has probably mastered it. As far as suggestions, I have about a hundred, but I see a lot of "rather go blind" in the comments, so I will throw my hat in the ring on that one too (very "charismatic voice" on that one ;)

Elizabeth you just earned a new SUBSCRIBER! Well done to read Angelina's quote about the masterpiece she created in Million Miles. Angelina has 3 other originals, "What Is Life", "Oslo" and "Shield" but also wrote new lyrics for a number of covers, most notably the Amy Winehouse songs, "Back to Black" and "Rehab". Recently I read a comment written my Jack Brown which says very well one of the things I love so much about our barefoot princess. Jack wrote, What I enjoy most about Angelina's singing is that unlike a lot of singers who approach a song with an attitude of "I'm going to use this song to showcase my vocal talents", she uses her vocal talents to showcase a song's lyrics and melody. You can tell she feels a special relationship with each song she sings, and when she sings, she conveys perfectly to the audience what the song means to her. That's what they call a "stylist" and they're rare, in any era.

But what does your own feeling have to do with the ability of the interpreter? I don't like Her interpretation of Queen, "The Show must go on". Please do not get it wrong (although this statement is complete nonsense, superfluous should / is) It is sung great, only Her interpretation has something disharmonious for me. But these are MY feelings and have nothing to do with Her ability and Her singing talent! Isnt it?

I think one of the most stunning aspects of Angelina's career so far is that her awareness of what vocal choices and how she presents her performances has always been there. She has after all, performed (and learned from) 125 covers from 65 often iconic artists. She is an intelligent and focused sponge and picks up all those vocal and emotive tools for her use. First the choice was "match the original" or if not, how to change/improve it. She has become a master at that. As for auto-tune, I doubt she needs it ever, maybe it is added some as a commercial consideration. Proof that she doesn't need it is in her Norway's Got Talent a cappella performance of "I'm a Fool To Want You" with the competition judges in front and fellow contestants behind (all well older than her) and she delivers a rock-solid performance. Great reaction!

I only recently started listening to these reaction videos and try to find those that are created by vocal coaches, as I receive an education on singing and the voice as an instrument. This education is not for my own singing, as I truly can NOT sing, but it helps me be better informed of what I'm listening to, giving me a greater appreciation for a vocalist. YOU are my favorite! You clearly are a master of your craft and communicate well while also revealing your own feeling about a performance or artist. Your enthusiasm is contagious, making the clip very entertaining (in addition to the education). So, thank you for what you do. One thing I would have liked to hear is regarding her tremendous talent as a songwriter, ESPECIALLY at this age.

The thing that makes Angelina such a consummate vocalist is that from the beginning she has always strived to express true feeling in the songs she sings, even as a young child. It seems that some people find it impossible for young children to express deep feelings, but there is always the natural born virtuoso, though rare, she is one. The way it can happen is that a baby is exposed to a certain type of music which touches, and resonates in their spirit. The music may inspire them in a way that makes them try to imitate the exact type of musical sounds that touch them so deeply. Angelina does not use auto tune because she has perfect pitch, and she has trained herself, over her young life, to also have just about perfect voice control. If you are able to take the time to follow her progression through her many covers, you would see her development along the way. Along with her great talent, she has put in the work. Oh, and one more thing. She is also a virtuoso in her performances because she is a consummate storyteller through her interpretation of songs, which gives her the ability to tototaly capture her audience.

You indicated that you hoped she would have more originals. Here are some originals she has already done in the past couple of years that you will thoroughly enjoy reacting to. Shield ..... This is hauntingly dramatic pop... Sounds like from a James Bond movie! What is life? Her first original composition at age 11. There is a big pile of over 130 videos on KZfaq with Angelina Jordans rehearsals, covers and originals... She is born 10th January 2006 in Oslo/Norge (English is her 3rd language ;-) ), sung her first notes of a Whitney Houston song with 18 months (link see down), started researching the internet for Jazz 3 yo, entered Norske Talenter (Norwegian Got Talent) 7 yo and won it 8 yo, was on AGT The Champions (recorded Oct. 2019, aired Jan. 2020) where she didn't won - some rumours say because she/her mother didn't sign the contract with the enterprise of Simon Cowell for to stay independend - meanwhile she has signed with Republic Records (musicnorway.no/news/industry-talk-michael-astar/). "Above the water": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ialjeZOTsLHPY4k.html - interesting voice - even if this is not my preferred genre ;-) ... here her "mini concert" from AGT the Champions (Watch out: With these videos other reactors have the most problems with copyright claims...): "Bohemian Rhapsody": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bc2Bn82pyseypYE.html "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hLyCirx20J64Y3U.html “Someone You Loved": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zs2fkrd60prOpH0.html Besides she is mostly making her very own arrangement there are some very interesting videos of her, where she uses the original arrangement or a big one of someone else like "I Have Nothing" (Whitney Houston Tribute) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m7qTqdmAm6iXeaM.html or "Fly Me To The Moon" in the arrangement of Quincy Jones (rehearsal with concert mixed audio for his birthday party in the O2 arena): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbObqtKiurSym3k.html . And here is a video where it is explained (with English subtitles) why she performs barefoot: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d5N_fq-k0bWbZI0.html and here an Interview in the Norwegian TV (with English subtitles) from 2015 after she has published her book about the story why she is barefoot when performing: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y8lzf6eKlam3imw.html In addition to school she got also vocal training at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program (I read, that this school said, they couldn't teach her more stuff because she has all learned what she could learn in this school ;-) ) - and btw. she plays also grand piano, violin, flute and guitar, make her arrangements herself, wrote a book, sew clothes for herself (partly with art from her grandma like in her first AGT performance and in her music video "Shield"). So she is a real all-rounder and I think all her fans are eager to see and hear what she is doing next... All the other things like more recommendation, chronological playlists and so on you can read in the comments of the mega-fans like Fernando F., Rusty ... And a little explanation: Her cover "I put a spell on you" b/w studio version at 9yo (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pN12n9J0tb7ec6c.html - btw. she made most of her cover arrangements by herself!) based on the original from Screemin' Jay Hawkins (from 1956) - Live: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bdF3g8uh29fYf5c.html or another version of it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pdh-o6tnzt_Tm30.html and here a version from 1990 in Tokyo - I feel, this is like the version Angelina has taken as the model, but I don't know it ( ;-) ): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eMhplMppx8nMj4k.html or as Audio-Studio-Version: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bpiTl9FyutzXp2w.html) that's real fun - if you watch this too and may be after this watch Angelinas cover again you will find out that Angelinas cover is a real tribute to Jay Hawkins :-D Thanks a billion again for your reaction! … and see you soon with your next AJ reactions - with greetings from Berlin/Germany :-D Best regards Andreas

I Would have to go with no Auto tune because Angelina basically has made that Powerful Extended note a trade mark she has done this in many different ways over the years at the end of feeling good , in Bohemian Rhapsody and Yellow Brick Road on AGT where Auto Tune is not allowed she just added a little break in it this time. I see it as something she has done many times and has no need for Auto Tune she just has a voice that can do what other singers cannot do !!! 😎😎😎😎😎.

It wasn't the extended note, it was the little run after, which had impossibly short notes. It's possible they decided it didn't sound good later and adjusted the run, it's also possible it was added deliberately for the effect. Could also have been her natural voice of course.

What always stops me in my tracks are the physical clues to how young she actually is in many if her performances. In this one, she is apparently in her first "teen" year (thirteen?) -- so glaringly confirmed by the fact the she has just emerged from her second (the pre-teen) growth spurt. Her hands and feet are simply ENORMOUS compared to e.g. her head and face. At the time of this video, her body is catching up, she is growing extremely tall but physically still kind of out of proportion. At the time of this writing (2022), she has grown into a well-proportioned young woman - still in her teens, but her bits and pieces are falling perfectly in line. Fortunately for those of us that love her musical abilities, minor issues like "growing up unevenly" has never affected her ability to take us along for beautiful musical journeys.

You said: "She (Angelina) can choose to have continuity and timbre". I have no professional education or experience in this matter. I 100% agree with your comment. I have been, what can be called, obsessed with the voice of this young person. You also said, "So many fantastic singers I hear in her", "Reaching back to roots and imitating what she heard before." "Here... she is super aware and intentional". May I suggest that just as there are individuals who have "photographic" memories, in some way Angelina has a (permanent/fixed) memory of emotions as represented by tones. A frequent comment of Angelina is that she sounds like, but not the same as (insert the name of the song/singer). One of the first comments I made about Angelina a long time ago is that Angelina combines the tones/timber of the artist that projects the emotion she determines is appropriate for her performance. Many times, the result is a combination of several singers. In other words, the emotion she feels results in a sound. This reasoning assumes, as stated above, she has a repertoire of memories of emotion tones by individual. Is it possible? Sometimes the easiest answer is the correct answer. Thanks for the great reviews and great music performances. Of course, this whole spiel could be the bupkis of an aging man.

It's so wonderful to see you're back, Elizabeth! Such insightful comments from you from many points of view. I think Angelina had always had a huge arsenal of sounds, placements, timber, etc in her voice. She just has refined them over time. One year in Angelina's vocal development amounts to ten for other artists, IMO. She has quite a nice vocal range, from a warm lower register to a very loose higher chest voice. Her runs, vocal fry and vibrato are to die for! Her voice seems to envelop your soul when she sings, it's truly something unique from her. As to the message of the song, as you said, it's like kind of cathartic and also comforting for everything that's been going in the world all last year and still goes on. Many people have cried their eyes off listening to Angelina's song, or picked up the phone to call a loved one they haven't seen in a long time, etc. In marketing we say it's a "Call for Action", lol. But in this case is telling the listener to let go of all the pain, anguish or loneliness they've been experiencing or to really keep in touch with family and friends that you haven't seen. All of this says so much about Angelina as an artist and particularly as a person. This is her first original song released under her newly signed contract with Republic Records (UMG) and although she could have chosen a more pop-ish, upbeat song, she chose to send this message to the world. Such a caring, genuine, humble, soul. 💖

I love it when you totally nerd out on a performance. I helps me to hear elements that I sometimes don't catch. Thanks!

Thanks for reacting to this amazing song. I was hoping you'd get back to Angelina! Keep reacting to her please. Also look at the Lyric release of this song, it features animated artwork by her grandmother.

You might be able to answer your autotune question by listening to her other videos of this song (I have seen two others). Good to see you reacting to this. These days it seems that every reactor claims to be a "voice coach," but too often they don't have much to say.

Angelina released this for Republic Records in November 2020 maybe 10 months after her AGT "Bohemian Rhapsody" performance.

I've been following Angelina for around 5 years, and knowing how particular Angelina and her family were, with who she signed with, because of not wanting to have to be pushed in any certain direction, or style of music, and having a say in all she does, I would be willing to bet my life, that Angelina would not use auto tune, or be forced to have her voice changed in any way for any reason. I'm not trained in music in any way, but I have listened to all her songs dozens of times, and even though I am old, I'd still be willing to make that bet, based on what I've seen and heard over the years from all of her songs. There is one song, (Above The Water) done by a Norwegian duo(TRXD), that does Electronic Dance Music, that they had Angelina sing, that I wouldn't make that bet about, but even it, I feel safe to say, is all Angelina. You really do need to go deeper in to Angelina's list of songs. I saw a comment once, that the person said "Angelina doesn't 'cover' songs, she completes them".

You astutely mentioned John Legend, Adele and Amy Winehouse, she's done brilliant covers of each of them, as well as Lana Del Rey, Frank AND Nancy Sinatra, Billy Holiday and many more. I like her tributes to Aretha Franklin, Avicii and an earlier tribute to her grandfather: You Were Always On My Mind. Angelina Mondays perchance? Just a thought.

There is a third release of this song called Million Miles Official Edition that you should watch as it’s a lyrical video with she and her grandmother’s illustrations. You should also watch the second performance she did on the AGT Finals. She also wrote another song when she was 12 called Shield that you should watch as well. It’s an homage to her family for protecting her. Have fun with Angelina!

@Diane_Dove: I found the 'Million Miles Official Edition' (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jqdhkqaGxrOZYn0.html) and was a bit disappointed as I thought the video imagery a bit trite, however when I looked for and found the official lyric video you mention (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hM57hctmv9rZh58.html), it was the one with the beautiful graphics which, if by her grandma as you suggest, explains the knock-out suit Angelina wore at the AGT recording of 'Bohemian Rhapsody', which I understand was also her grandma's work. By the way - no sign of autotune in those two recordings of the same song, although, like Elizabeth, I definitely heard it in this one ... R (Australia)
