This ident is more entertaining than any of the so-called 'programmes' on ITV today.

The Anglia Knight was originally a sporting trophy commissioned by King Willem III of the Netherlands for the Falcon Club back in 1850. 109 years later, an Anglia chairman spotted it in the window of a London Jeweler and the rest is history.

I live in the North West of England and 'Sale of the Century' was shown here in the Manchester area by Granada; that and 'Survival' are the only programmes I can remember that were shown across the ITV network by Anglia in the 1970's and early 80's.

When I was a small boy, in East Anglia, I wanted to grow up to be him - on a horse in armour rescuing people. Genuinely. Then I grew up and realised I didn't really like people all that much. 🤭 😆

Wow. Lovely to hear and see the “long” Anglia ident again after so many years. Top notch. Modern so called idents are bland and eminently forgettable.

Very different to all the other ITV logos. The sequence is beautiful and the classical music goes really well. I was surprised to find out Anglia were still using the knight in 1988.

No Doubt but we in the South West had the GOLDEN HIND, Drakes wonderful galleon for Westward TV, AND we didn't need the Handelean music to highlight it.
@Matt5718 ай бұрын
@@grahamnancledra7036 I had forgotten about the Golden Hind as Westward's logo. It must have been a sad day when Westward went off the air. I live in the Central region and I don't think I can remember a single TSW programme being networked, apart from when Highway was filmed in the south west
@grahamnancledra70368 ай бұрын
@@Matt571 There were a few; Some from the About Britain Series, a few plays, documentaries and for the kids Tube Mice, and the notorious That's My dog. Westward and TSW were more a regional station showing networked programming from Granada, Thames, LWT, and ATV etc, it's why we loved them they showed us our region and the announcers, talked to us. All that went down the tubes when the awful WestCountry took the franchise.
@Matt5718 ай бұрын
@@grahamnancledra7036 I remember Tube Mice, George Cole and Dennis Waterman did the voices, but I had no idea it was a TSW programme. I know Westcountry got rid of Gus Honeybun, I remember seeing Gus when I was on holiday in the late 80s and early 90s
