Timothy Lake fishing for trout in the Mount Hood National Forest. I will be kayak fishing for trout (trolling) as i make my way across the lake to fish from shore with my ultralight fishing setup. I have fished timothy lake quite a bit already this season and have managed to catch a lot of big trout and some Kokanee as well. I have been mainly kayak fishing on the lake, which has produced the most trout but fishing from shore has produced some decent trout as well.
My trolling setup for Kokanee and trout has been a simple one, just a 1oz sinker setup on a snap swivel running on my mainline, to a bead, then swivel, about 18" of leader running to my dodger, then running a wedding ring setup behind that.
I didn't have to fish very deep to start getting bites from the trout, but when it comes to kokanee, you typically need to be fishing a bit deeper, especially as spring turns into summer and the water begins to warm.

good to see you out & about nick! That's a long drive for us from the Wenatchee area, but it really looks pretty. We may have to make that drive once we get our kayak trailer. Bonafide SS127s are *not* easy to load on top of the truck!! I need to get a non-res license anyway so we can hit the Garibaldi area for clams & crab this summer, and maybe a little surfing too!

Better off just using some small pliers and your trout net to release if your trying to prevent ick or other diseases for the fish human hands have more bacteria then just a little water wetting on your hands.

For the Guide Select Pro, is the 7'6" or 8' better? And is there any reason that a Celilo wouldn't do just fine apart from sensitivity?

What a Great Day Fishing Nick! I hope to make it up there this year. Question- What type of line and leader do you use ? I used to fish that Luhr Jensen when I was a kid in California .( with good success) You have convinced me I should still be using them!🤦

Kokanee in that lake still tiny? Assuming they are. Haven't been up there in many years. Early morning like that, try flatlining. Lose the lead and put back 100' or so.

What kind of kayak is that? I took my pup on mine for the first time yesterday. Dumped me in the lake real quick. We will get the hang of it. We will be in the marker for a better one someday.
