I hope if Tom continues this he reads the pacifist again, the 0 damage ability only has a 20% chance to trigger if it has turned a soldier into a civilian which only happens when they are adjacent to each other. Once you are out of soldiers it basically becomes a useless unit and can't save you which is what happened in the first run

Hey Tom, the extra life doesn't need to be on the field to proc, it just has to be part of your militia, so it'll trigger even if its not on the field, they just put it on the field so you can risk accidentally destroying it with like a claymore or an improvised explosive

I played this a bit after last video and found that it's really hard to get a specific build going, as there's very few ways to remove creatures from your deck in any way that you can reliably control. On top of that, the number of options you get between rounds is not really balanced against the boss' difficulty; which means you're very unlikely to get complex builds off as the pieces you need for them don't appear before a boss just kills you. As a result, the best builds I've found are purist builds that self-replicate and multiply damage, with maybe one or two things tossed in that permanently increase their damage, and using the Internal Affairs Officers to remove as many civilians as you can. Try: 1) Hell Portal. Yes, just Hell Portal, let it poop out a bunch of Hellhounds and watch it carry you all the way to victory. Maybe add a Demon Slayer or Dog Catcher for bonus spice, if you're lucky enough to find one before the run ends. 2) Self-replicating Spider + Death Worm. The spiders keep buffing themselves until the entire board blows up, Death Worm gets a bunch of damage _per piece marked for destruction_ meaning it scales better than almost anything else (except Hellhounds). The difficulty with this one is that it's again very unlikely you'll get both of those early enough to get the build going before you lose. DARRRR sounds fun, but isn't worth it. His damage scales off of how lucky you got pulling beasts every single round, and is hampered directly by the sheep's self-replication ability as the more it procs, the less likely it'll be for DARRRR to even show up, and suddenly your 200+ damage becomes 10 and you die like in the video. In a similar vein, getting some dragon builds going seems fun, but rely too much on RNG to really pull off. Red dragons need sheep early so you build a decent pile of them, and then hope you'll get a red dragon at some point (you won't), then hope he doesn't eat them all before becoming remotely useful (he will), and then hope you'll get some stuff that improves with fire like seed pods to make up for the disappointing damage output before you run into a wall of boss HP (again, you won't). Gold dragons need you to continually roll gold, silver, an alchemist and scrap metal, all of which is pretty much never going to end up happening. And don't even get me started on the were-dragon, what a piece of garbage. In all, good concept, but needs a whole lotta work before it can live up to its potential.

I've beat this demo a few times now and it has a lot of promise. Spiders are also an insanely op strat. I think some non-boss encounters and a bit of balancing would add a lot to the game.

If you can get an early hell portal, that is gg. Got it during the second boss and went up to several thousand damage per turn. Just make sure to eliminate all other militias besides the hell hounds. Crazy.

hellhounds with a tax accountant and whatever shrine that doubles damage was how I got through. It was only two or three rounds for the final boss, doing ridiculous damage. But the RNG to get that setup was real, probably 100 or more games...

Tom the one up works regardless if its on your board or not. Also the pacifist needs to convert a soldier before having a chance to negate damage

Tom at the end when it said "You freed 10 of the 50 of the 48 lower states" The reason why it was so hard to read is partly b/c most people don't know what the "lower 48" are and it was written in a dumb way. it should say "You have freed 10 of the 50, lower 48 states." The lower 48 refer to all the states minus Alaska and Hawaii.

I think of these kinds of games as the video-game equivalent of engine-building games. I think "Strategy Rogue-like" is the technical genre, but if there is a more appropriate name, I cannot think of it.

This game needs plenty of work before the full release because I'm pretty sure the only way to win is to have a field with lots of hellhounds or maybe some sort of replicating spider build. Boss HP ramps up so quickly that it makes the best synergies like Darrrrr or the monster hunter useless because even getting like +20 damage is meaningless in the end compared to what hellhounds can do. Also removal is far too rare and simply awarding the choice of either a rare unit or some removal after every boss kill would make the game more balanced.

Best combo I have gotten have been succubus and paladins, get rid of the succubus after you gained a couple of vamps and then let a paladin "kill" them every round, had a couple of paladins with over 1k in damage at the end

how to win this game (literally the only way i've found to work lol): step 1: restart the game repeatedly until you get the hellgate on the 1st or 2nd pull step 2: hope you get lucky enough to pull something that can wipe all your civilians, like the ark of covenant or the internal affairs person (note the internal affairs person can mark themselves for destruction, so you can kill them off whenever you're out of things to destroy, hot tip) step 3: never take anything ever again step 4?: when you have 25 hellhounds hope for another internal affairs thingumy to kill the gate step 5: win

I almost won with "gold goo" but sadly it showed up too soon and my "replicating spiders" hadn't multiplied enough so there wasn't too much "grey goo" to power up the "gold goo"... sad :(

Pacifist only negates damage if you have soldiers for it to convert. Game winning strategy... get Portal as early as possible and then take nothing else. Those hounds can put out insane damage.

I tried the game out after you showed it last time and the highest damage, easiest way was to get an early hell-gate and get rid of everything else. The dogs synergize so much that you just AFK through all the available levels. There are several fun combinations though. Darr (From the Beast Master movies) can do some crazy damage with a lot of beasts. I got SUPER lucky and got a scientist on the first roll (changes humans into other random humans) and it turned 4x civilians into 3x Darr + 1x Apprentice Thief. Then there are some fun animals that get huge combos like the ferret (+2 damage for Darr) and a bird that does 2x damage for Darr. The easiest early strategy (only 2 uncommons) is Death Worms + Replicating Spiders. But as usual, the key is deck management. You are free to grab any units that will self-destruct. You might need some early damage. But after you get your core units, don't bloat your deck.

Full beasts and Darrr is an easy win. My darrrr ended up doing around 5k hits per turn (Current last boss have 10k hp)

Anyone know a game like this or luck be a landlord that’s on iphone?

Game has some issues with balancing. You could ''Get civilians and if they are next to a soldier they become soldiers.. + Get an engineer and some scrap, which turns into a robot if they randomly end up next to each other, and if the robot ends up next to a soldier it turns into a mech that does 2 damage for every mech. Really long process for some ok scaling. Or you could just get spiders. Just pick spiders and webs. No real process to it, and has the strongest scaling in the game as every connected web doubles the damage.

I think this game will have a lot of potential when it's finished, but after playing it for a few hours after your first video, it doesn't have a lot of replayability and it's not very well balanced. There's only some strategies that work and experimenting with the others just gets you nowhere

I wonder if Tom has realized that Sheep, by default, have 0 damage. Darr gives all beasts +3 damage, meaning that if Darr isn't on the field, none of his (large number of) sheep do any damage.
