Last time the captain mentioned that the storm is real bad. Then he went super calm and spoke of black soil. I think he died and ended up in limbo. That's why he sees Jonathan now. Jonathan is dead and now the captain is dead as well.

The texture oddities are caused by floating point errors. As they plunge through the void an arbitrary distance away from the engine's origin point, it becomes harder and harder for the engine to define the exact locations each point is supposed to be in relative to the others.

you guys have summoned the kraken, what actually happened is that you have fallen through the world, and as distance keeps increasing the float point precision of the game keeps getting erratic and as a result the shakes happen and the UI gets screwed up. (glad I've watched that scoot manley video)

It appears that you guys did actually fall out of the world, and as you fell deeper and deeper, faster and faster, the numbers that handle model rendering and positioning failed miserably. I expect your hand began to spazz because you were falling so fast that the game couldn’t animate the walking animation (which was playing as you fell because you were technically moving and there was no falling animation) fast enough and was instead was glitching between 2 frames. Also, I expect the menu glitched because your position was really far from where you were supposed to be, and the menu was rendering from where you were supposed to be, and the picture glitched and stretched as it tried to represent it in your position, when it was also locked to the position where you were supposed to be.

Disappointed in Simon and Tom. There was a prime opportunity to sing The Monster Mash after they joked about the pronounciation in the sound recording at 6:40
