I live in the UK. Usually, as long as the noise isn't excessive, you are allowed to make this sort of noise between 8am and 8pm without being harassed. If a neighbour asks you politely and with a good reason (and you can put off what you are doing for a while) people usually use common sense and courtesy. (Having said that neighbours have been known to stab each other over weird disagreements!!)xx

I have had to deal with my share of insane neighbors but that was as the property owner. The kind of neighbors who complained if you started your car before 8am or after 9pm., or if I was mowing, if I worked in the garden, you get the idea. I once took my dog, who never left my property, and put him in a kennel for three weeks as these idiots kept telling the police my dog was in their yard. Yes, we had a fence. While my dog was gone, these morons called the cops 7 times to complain my dog was in their yard. All 7 times I told the police where my dog was located. After the 7th time, the police finally confirmed my dog had been in the kennel. I threatened to sue them if they didn’t stop and the police told them one more false report and they would be arrested. We finally moved. I simply could not take any more. Miserable people will make everyone else around them miserable. Peace is worth every effort.

Erik, neighbors always complain. After I had a very large tree removed from my front yard. A few days later my neighbor came over and complained about the guy stump grinding my stump. I told him that he did not complain about the chain saws and the crane blocking the street, but now your complaining about this. I told him to call the cops if it bothered him so much. And he did. The cop told him this. I can tell him to come back later then he can finish the job. The guy said no, I want him gone now. Then the cop told the Ken, maybe you can pay the man to come back at a different time. The Ken just walked away. Now fast forward 6 months. I called the cops on Ken, he hired a tree company to cut down three trees in his yard. And they started to use a stump grinder. I came out of my house in uniform,yes wearing my duty belt. The Ken called the cops that I was carrying a weapon outside. He was in fear of his life. Again the cops came out, these cops knew me. Then the cops told the man, he's on his property and he is allowed to wear his weapon, plus he works for a security company. And the friendly cop left. I only complained because he did it to me. After a week or so, Kens house was involved in a truck accident. A drunk driver decided to drive thru his house, and Ken decided to sell it as is and moved. Thank God for pickup trucks
