The worst thing about this episode having no Hartfoots is YOU KNOW the next is gonna be like 60% Hartfoot

We have set the bar so low for this show that we are giving it a 7 just because something happened after 5 episodes. Honestly this feels like they had a billion dollars for vfx and a dollar for writers.

The part when SS-Obergruppenführer Galadriel proclaimed her “Final Solution of the Orckish Question” to Adar was really “amazing”

How is Galadriel saying to Adar she wants to kill all Orcs "but you shall be kept alive" and 30 seconds later she wants to kill him. The writing makes no sense.

I’m surprised they forgot about their remark on their last episode review when they said how goofy it would be if the tower was blown up and fell on the climbing orcs in the next episode, when that’s exactly what happened.

I like how the entire fate of the Southlands was decided by like 50 orcs and 50 men in a small village.

I love how the writers forgot the Bronwyn gets hit by 2 arrows but in the next scene it was just 1 😂

My favorite part was when all of the orcs paused their raid outside of the tavern to allow the villagers to cauterize Bronwyn’s wound. And then burst in as soon as she’s good to go. Very kind of them

My favorite moment was, when Halbrand rode after Galadriel, overtook both her and Adar and swooped around coming up from the front of Adar. Brilliant. Maybe he would like share his teleportation technology with the rest of the cast.

I actually laughed out loud when Galadriel was speaking with Isildur and starts telling him about how it's better to be humble when she sees he's upset about being relegated to stable duty. This from Galadriel? Really? Didn't she essentially tell the entire Numenorian court to come at her during their first meeting? Such terrible writing...

This episode made me realize the orcs are actually the good guys. Think about it, the orcs just want somewhere to live in peace, "just as worthy of the breath of life, just as worthy of a home" meanwhile you've got this racist, genocidal, Elven commander who wants to wipe out every single orc. "Your kind was a mistake... and even if it takes me all of this age I vow to eradicate every last one of you" - Galadriel.

My favorite part was when Elendil told Galadriel that his wife died by drowning and she replied, "The sea is always right." Poetic.

The Southlands is supposed to be the size of a whole country and there's no more than 30 of them and a village with three houses. Ladies and gentlemen the most expensive show ever made.

I think Halbrand does know he's Sauron and he's on some ridicolus arc where Sauron doesn't want to be evil anymore and just wants to live in peace. He's been making comments throughout the entire series alluding to his past as Sauron "I finally found peace, for both of our sakes let me have it" "When the Southlanders and you find out what I did you will cast me out" then asking Adar "Do you know who I am". These writers have been trying to humanize the Orcs so why wouldn't they do the same with Sauron. The arc is, Sauron was betrayed and struck down by Adar so Sauron was like, you know what, fuck it, I don't want to be evil anymore, so he meets Galadriel floating on the raft, he feels bad for that he turned her into this vengeful cunt, they go to Numenor, he feels like he can live in peace there and noone will ever know what he did, Galadriel convinces him to go back to the Southlands, he doesn't want to at first but then he realizes he can go be the king of the Southlanders and do right by them and make up for some of the evil shit he's done and get his revenge on Adar. Galadriel and the Southlanders will eventually find out he's Sauron and he will be like, no wait, I'm not evil anymore I just want to live in peace and make up for the evil shit I've done but Galadriel will be like, no fuck that i'm a vengeful cunt I won't have it and he will eventually turn evil again. You have to think how idiotic these writers are and then you will realize what they are doing with Halbrand/Saurons character arc.

I really love it when the Queen of the most powerful nation shows up with a few hundred guys to fight like 40 orcs over the fate of Mordor. Man this show actually has no idea what stakes are.

Fuck me, if I have to hear "Commander of the Northern Armies" another ten times...

Galadriel is a legit villain. The queen was running around trying to help her people while Galadriel is just standing there for trying to be badass wtf

Elf Orc guy is easily the most compelling and interesting character on the show by a mile.

My favorite part is when Galadriel tells the bad guy that she knows the orcs were made the way they are against their will, and then gleefully discusses torturing and committing genocide on them anyway. Our hero. This isn't a story. It's a character assassination.

Before I was rooting for the tidal wave. Now I’m rooting for the volcano.

There is a shot when you see the Numenoreans riding over the top of the hill, Galadriel at the lead, slow motion, with the morning Sun directly behind them, a copy of Helm's Deep when the Rohirrim charge over the hill, Gandalf at the lead, with the morning Sun behind them. However, in their desire to copy they forgot they were traveling East into the morning Sun, not riding West away from it, which would be back to the sea. Later we see they're still riding, but East again to the village. It seems they didn't know where to go so they were out there just charging full speed in big circles towards the Sun, away from the Sun, back towards the Sun until someone stopped and said "Galadriel where the fuck we goin'? Let's just check out that village."

Was no one bothered when they threw a party with re-spawned villagers right after almost the entire village was slaughtered? Shouldn't they have a funeral or ceremony instead? Or that they compressed about 400 horses and numenorians on 3 ships? Or that the tower would have been way more defensible than a crummy wood/straw village with no walls? Or that bronwen was perfectly okay the day after getting hit in the shoulder by an arrow? Or that the entire kingdom of the southlands seems to consist of one old tower and one shitty village? I could go on forever with this...

You call that a BATTLE? I call that a circus

I mentioned this in my own review: Galadriel is so stupid that she had the bundle of cloth with the "hilt" inside it for at least a couple of hours from capturing Adar to giving it to Theo and in that time SHE NEVER ONCE THOUGHT ABOUT UNDOING THE BUNDLE AND CHECKING ITS CONTENTS. Our Heroine!!!

Totally agree with Alex, some of the worst script writing I have ever seen and that is without taking into account the writers are BUTCHERING JRR Tolkiens' work. I think Alex is rating this show correctly, OJ and AJ are rating it to generously imho though.

The time of day constantly changing at the end is unforgivable. It's so freaking jarring, and only an idiot could have let that slip by the editing room. That or a committee of bigwigs.. which is what I'm assuming happened.

I'm just re reading the Silmarillion and I weep at what could have been. It's such an epic tale and this show feels so small scale.

Am I missing something or did Arondir not tell Galadriel, commander of the northern armies who would know more about the item than he does that the corrupted Elf dude is running away with a MAGICAL AND REALLY DARK DARK ARTIFACT. Even if it was a fake, why did Galadriel hand him the fake item as if it's a picture of his family or something? And he took it without telling her...boy just say, "oh nah that's for you idk wtf that is but it's Saurons."

Anyone know why they decided to abandon the fortress & instead chose to defend a tavern where they can be attacked from every direction

It was pretty bold of them to definitely 100% kill Galadriel at the end of the episode with a pyroclastic flow. For all intents and purposes she is dead to me now you do not survive that

No one talks about the fact that if the Orcs and Adar hadn't dug the tunnels, the whole hilt thing would have essentially just created a cute little swamp around the volcano ? I start to think that the hilt was just an over complicated irrigation system for Morgoth to water his daffodils back during his summer in Mordor

strange how this episode felt like it was the episode where the story actually starts

Galadriel wanted to see the volcano's manager.

Battle for nothing, the smallest village with 50 villagers... the whole Numenor army went there from the other side of the world to save this one village... right on time of the attack of course... this show is written by 5-year-olds... some scenes were like jaw droppingly bad...

Well... the battle was also quite awful: 1-Their "fortress" is a 360º open village, with 0 geological barriers in any of the sides and wood huts that can be easily set on fire even at distance (Straw roofs). 2-Bronwyn "the orckiller", who needs soldiers if you have this florist who can kill orcs like it's nothing, no fear, no doubts, straight to the kill. 2.5-The "wall of fire" from the cart is as thin as a paper, anyone can jump over it and won't even get a single burn if he doesn't fall. 3-Villagers are now somehow can overpower orcs, and with 2 words from a bad speech they lose all the fear from being attacked by monsters somehow. 4-Arondir duels the ONLY orc that doesn't have a sword/axe/dagger on him, maybe he overslept that day and forgot the tools for the work XD, otherwise Arondir would have been killed at least three separate times. And Bronwyn "the orckiller" saves the day. 5-Numenorians (who in the lore NEVER used cavalry in battle, said by Tolkien himself) come and use a chain to trip the orcs, do this showrunners know how physics work? Those men would have tripped from the horse at the 3rd orc hit. 6-Arondir and the boy somehow know of Galadriel, they must have seen the battles she participated (invented) on their phones in stream or something like that. 7-Isildur asking for permission to join the battle like a teenager in a football team to his coach... Numenorian "army" 8-Halbrand somehow teleports in front of Galadriel and fake Sauron despite starting the chase way later. 9-Halbrand attacks the horse to trip Adar from it, but of course they have to show that the horse is completely ok. Killing people -> OK, hurting a horse in a battle -> NOT OK Now compare this to ANY of the battles in LOTR films.

So all you care about is battles. Got it.

Sauron will reveal himself and Celebrimbor will take the one ring. Celebrimbor then leads a rebellion of orcs against the dark lord and is defeated, he wanders Mordor as a wraith until a Lone Ranger named Talion seeks vengeance for his murdered family and is possessed by the spirit of Celebrimbor . 😂

I just thought it was baffling to see Galadriel tell Halbrand not to kill Andar, then a few moments later she is about to kill Andar and Halbrand stops her from killing Andar moments later. The show really wants me to believe that this is the same Galadriel we see in FotR

Someone on YMS said that you could just watch the weekly recap for every episode and you’d basically miss nothing. Thought that was funny.

The part where the volcano said, "There is a tempest in me!" and morbed all over the Southlands and Galadriel brought me to tears. 11/10 would watch again

The fact that Galadriel is an absolute sociopath in this series actually goes show how low of an opinion Amazon's execs have for empowered females. She wasn't written to be empowered, she was written to mock women who show any sort of courage or assertiveness.

I feel like you are just accepting bad television with your 7/10 rating. You should rate the writing/story, characters/acting, visiuals, action each separately, then average them for your score. I think you will find your score is far lower.

Amazing how enjoyable an hour of watching Joe and the boys talk about the show is, it flies by so much faster than an episode of the actual show. Just listening to them has become my preferred way to “watch” the show.

I really loved how Galadriel embraced her inner Sauron and is going to do ethnic purification and torture orcs and adar. Such a great hero. I mean Adar is the good person and hero of his people. He is doing all for his family, even destroying world. Also... Gala got exiled so why would she still be commander of Northern armies?

My favourite moment was when Guyladriel yelled: ''GET TO THE CHOPPA'' and they all did and almost escaped but the choppa had weapons on it so Predator saw them as a threat and killed them all. Totally a 6/7 would watch again!

"Hey, I know you're just a child, and I'm a 200 year old + Elf, but you, young child, must be the one to burn your mother to save her! It can't be me, or any of the other grown adults just standing there, IT MUST BE YOU!" Oh, needlessly traumitizing children for life is TIGHT!

I still managed to fall asleep about 20 minutes into the episode. I'm so sad, only because I wanted to love this series.

What even would be the point of that sword opening the dam if there were no tunnels leading up to the volcano for the water to follow? It's like a prerequisite, without which the water just floods some woods and villages. Oddly convenient.

All I can think of every time we are told the Orcs deserve a place to call home and live their lives is the "LOOKS LIKE MEAT IS BACK IN THE MENU BOYS" scene in The Two Towers where they murder and absolute cannibalize one of their own cuz they are hungry.

Im still upset about this , a hundred year old elf , hides the blade in a tavern under the floor . That’s was his hiding spot 😑. And nobody thought to check the weapon that whole time 🙄

The very circumstances of the battle sound unacceptably dumb--(1) the people chose to abandon a stronghold and instead make their stand at an unfortified village where they can be attacked from 360 degrees, and (2) the tower was SO fragile that Arondir made it collapse with a trick shot. Even without mortar, a competently stacked stone tower will not fall over.

It aint a review of a tv show episode without Joe asking a question and then immediately shouting over them before they even start answering
