Just can’t give up the extra xp, carry weight, ap, vats accuracy, melee attack damage, cheaper prices/ better sale prices, quicker criticals, and good enough sneak bonus of the unyielding set.

This is absolutely something I’ve been needing to hear! For years people have gone with UnY only. Chameleons has so much value and not just for Non PA Builds. A full chameleons PA set let’s you stealth kill Earle keeping Stabilized I’m confident a stealth Holy fire can out DPS the enclave plasma flamer if you have stabilized (NEED TO BE IN POWER ARMOUR)

Awesome video! 3 Chameleon x lifesaving x autostim or 2 lifesaving x 15crit fill elders mark with 20 luck for crit every second shot. You can use shielded raider underarmor for ap and more perk points for more dps with the less luck you need. Submachine guns only need 20 luck instead of 24 with critfill, or 30 luck instead of 34 without critfill.

I've been playing the game for about 3 weeks now. On and off since around launch but never got past 60 until starting again 3 weeks ago. So, I'm on a full health stealth commando build using a 15% crit recharge Fixer and 23 luck to achieve crit every other shot. Because I'm full life I have no need for unyielding and I've been thinking I would get one of each type of enemy type specific defenses, so one Exterminator, one Troubleshooter etc. and this video just threw a wrench into my plans. Turns out I'm getting chameleon! I just recently bought the plans for limbs for the SS set with my gold so that stings a bit, but I guess it'll be worth it in the end. Thank you for all your wonderful stuff mr. Turtle. As a newbie to the game I've been getting so much info and help off of your videos. Now, off to farm some scout armor!

On the Fallot main series, I've always done sneak, I freaking love it. But in Fallout 76 you can hear me from a mile away. 😂

5 pieces of weightless armor plus the chameleon mutation provides slightly better stealth than 5 pieces of chameleon armor. I've only tried this with secret service armor, so it may be different with other armor types. As a bonus, the chameleon mutation gives an extra 40 DR when it activates. Both standing and crouched.

I leveled up my original character using weightless armor and the chameleon mutation. Worked pretty well and the armor was cheap but I got tired of not showing up in photos.

This...this has my attention. My first play through was a sneaky rifleman/shotgun, or at least I felt sneaky. I obviously was not THIS sneaky. I am just way too lazy of a player to do the low health unyielding builds. I know the dps can be crazy. I need to build up some cores on my sneaky commando alt, with the changes to legendary drops I have "plenty" of modules. Edit: I see that enhanced detection sees right through stealth, bummer.

It works in chameleon power armor too. I hope you go over power armor stealth again using chameleon. As it actually works now and is a lot of fun, and surprisingly powerful.

I like the information for min-maxing purposes - as in getting to your goal with the minimum investment. Speaking of this, a full set of covered scout with shadowed and no sneak perks is basically good enough for normal purposes. At some point its easier to invest in more damage or survivability because dead enemies don't detect and those who still detect you ignore stealth anyway.

You can actually trick the detection when shooting enemies, if you are outside of their coded detection range nothing will ever spot you. In events if you are away from other players you are able to stay hidden aswell even if you shoot targets but if a player gets inside of you detection radius or you get inside of that players detection radius and that player is detected you will be detected aswell, the game mechanics have changed last year this way, now all have a zone of detection radius around them, more stealth means the radius is smaller on you when you shoot a target you radius of detection is getting larger and larger, and if it colides with another players detection radius you are going to get detected. Also Chinese Stealth Armor is better and i have said that for so long, hopefully people will start to listen now :) You can also have the light on always while using chinese stealth armor.

Does the chameleon effect from mutation/weightless armor or the stealth suit provide the same as a full chameleon armor? Another question would be can you sneak as easily with chameleon power armor??

very similar build to mine even the ghillie lol. I have 1 chameleon piece on my SS armour and all sneak cards maxed including legendary. I still find that I can just put my Chinese stealth armor on and literally no enemy will ever see me (except the queens scorched minions for some reason) when I am just creeping around right by them. if they start moving towards my position I just move left or right about 6 feet and theyre totally lost.

On my Anna Saultron Build I run for the visuals a covered ops with shadowed mod and 4 pieces combat armor shadowed (heavy) all pieces unyielding together with a fixer I can run west Tek with out being seen. Most of the times I run around with 45 HP.. I don't know how much they took over from Fallout 4. 5 pieces of chameleon made it impossible to detect. Put that together with muffled legs and shadowed arm and body armor and you where THE GHOST.

I've been under the impression Sneak Perk & Agility caps at 125 Sneak Stat(or 25 Agility). 1 Agility = 5 Sneak Stat. Sure you can 15 Agility + Sneak***(131 Sneak Stat) but it still caps at 125 cause that's the stat maximum. Just having 25 Agility is 125 Sneak Stat so you don't need Sneak Perk at that point. I wonder if Chameleon is uncapped when added. So basically get 125 cap + Chameleon for 156?(25% Shadow effect) invisibility does improve Sneak as well though don't know how much.

Stealth melee is so much fun with thorn armor. While rolling for unyielding i ended up with a full set of overeaters and a full set of chameleon. The chameleon build came out pretty wild. 3 have poison resist and 2 have fire resist and all got bonus detection stats. I can pretty much sprint right into them and stealth atk with a machete. The true samurai.

Im trying to test the tradeable versions of this set (Forest scout/anything with shadowed. Civil Engineer with jetpack) I feel like the extra shadowed provided by covert scout is really where the biggest improvement is, i am using a flamer not a suppressed weapon and the stealth is good but they do quite like to shoot right where I am without me exiting caution.

Hands Down UNY is the best for maintaining Stealth with Loud weapons. I used the lmg, EPF, EPR, and a few other weapons that are very loud. Fast time to kill and very high agility is needed so you don’t get spotted. The quieter the gun the less Agility you need. Same thing applies for range the further you are away the less you need agility to maintain stealth

Interesting build. Personally, after the CSS was introduced, that’s all I use if I’m going stealth. At low health with Bloodied pew pews. I can clear the Burrows without being detected. Unless it’s for DOps.

Woah, great video. I wasn’t aware that 4 chameleon pieces offered better stealth than unyielding. A great alternative option for full builds! A couple of questions: 1) noticed you replaced Ground Pounder with full Commando and Conc.Fire perks. Is that the new meta now? Did GP lose some of its effectiveness? 2) Brings up the question whether this uber Chameleon stealth build would be able to stealth around on Daily Ops when stealthing is restricted ?

How does a piece of harder to detect, while sneaking compare against these other effects?

Great video! Unfortunately for me, it'll be awhile until I will get to try out stealth builds since I'm barely over level 300. I invested all of my perks and mutations into melee and specifically using the settler's gauntlet so stealth guns are a foreign concept haha

Being able to ditch the sneak perk definitely opens up some build options.

There are so many wierd quirks to the systems of 76. It's a miracle anything works honestly.

I believe I said it before but, they need to change how chameleon works. I think chameleon should work while moving, but to balance it, it would deactivate once you stop moving or fire. I believe only way to counter even that is to have on shadowed perks on those pieces so that even if chameleon deactivates you still have some form of stealth. It's just regular stealth without chameleon. So even when you fire you're just harder to detect instead of being completely invisible with chameleon activated while moving.

Looks like multiple chameleon "reduces effect of light sources". So it's same stealth as if in the dark. Tho, the best defense is a good offense. :P So if all UY, high action points, just waste them all before they can attack! LOL

After spending over 5000 scrip for a single Uy SS right arm, I'm sure I probably scrapped a dozen chameleon pieces. I guess i should have kept a couple...lol

So what I'm hearing is that the special stats from unyielding is not worth losing by wearing any chameleon. Yeah, you're invisible, but everything else suffers. Carry weight, XP, prices, AP, HP, everything.

Chameleon only working when I'm completely still makes it a non-starter for me. I wouldn't say it's completely useless but as far as I'm concerned it might as well not exist.

This is why I am currently trying to roll another uny piece to replace my chameleon groll. Not worth it.

Good for research, but completely unnecessary in gameplay. I run full secret service unyielding with no shadowed pieces, no sneak perk card. With 30+ agility I'm very rarely ever detected. I'll take the extra 15 to all my other attributes over a little extra sneak that barely affects gameplay.
