True, a lot of people think it's all about the plugin, true you can argue it help, but it was the people, the recommended viewer would know about the people from their separate videos and coming together help the server grow into the biggest smp with members that don't even have 10 mil subs, and the members were involved in a lot of genre like pvp, redstone, building and etc.

I think this really shows the potential of Minecraft as a storytelling platform. In fact, storytelling is, in a way, the core of any SMP from the viewer’s perspective. Lifesteal is just capitalizing on that.

SMPs weren't about stories until DSMP. DSMPs success was so big because of how it put a twist on SMPs instead of casual playthrough kind of content. But DSMP has caused everyone to think exactly this, and now the over abundance of story/lore based Minecraft servers is so large that it's become redundant.

@@Erifire There are all kinds of different stories in minecraft worlds that emerge in different ways. There are the explicitly-told stories of the DSMP, the emergent drama of Lifesteal, and anything in between. Something as simple as a player building something in response to some other server event is a kind of story.

I’d heard of a few of the creators before and heard very small bits about the SMP. Tbh I kinda thought it was just a wacky PVP server the way people talked about it, but from this, it actually seems pretty interesting.

PVP is what alot of them are good at but they mainly focus on the story. PVP is just a part of it whether its an ambush or revenge or something else to make the story interesting

I find lifesteal to be such an interesting phenomenon. It's a group of content creators who most people in the minecraft community have heard of, but most people don't watch regularly per say. Everyone reorganizes them, but they've always been in the background. I think with the Dream SMP having ended, they have a chance at gaining an enormous community, if they make an effort to appear on the frontlines for a little bit. These people have so much talent and skill, it's incredible.

I started as a fan of the Achievement Hunter Let's Plays and then Hermitcraft, DreamSMP, Karmaland and now the Life Series , Empires, Lifesteal and QSMP. Every series had a hook, except for DSMP, and I think that part of its success was that story wasn't every intended to be part of the mix and it was live. People felt invested to tune into it because vods were not always uploaded. Some of it is now lost media because of it, but fans who were stuck at home had something to look forward to daily during lockdowns. I really do like the new servers and creators coming up. The folks on Lifesteal are quite innovative and skilled. The QSMP is doing a cinematic with loosely scripted RPG style story with admins as NPCs, a diverse set of creators from different communities and live translation which encourages the same daily participation of the content creators and the audience. And VODs are saved this time around. Edited and uploaded in days making it easier to catch up. While Lifesteal has been amazing content, I think this new way of trying to break language barriers is bringing audiences together with creators from all over the world and the community is better for that too.

NGL it's kinda been dead since Dream went to prison in my eyes. Everybody just kinda left the serverfor anyear and not much happened for a full year's worth of content.

@@DarthJarJarTheGodlike yeah, i think it definitely lost most of its audience but still had its lore and a good amount of clout left. but when Technoblade died i think everyone kinda just assumed it had ended (which it did almost instanty) and it lost all traction and sense of direction. (i mean, the server ends because tubbo accidentally nuked everything? how anticlimactic)

@@OzymandiasMC I mean to be fair, not only were a really large minority in all of the CCs fandoms were being spoiled brats and just jerks to said CCs to "continue the damn story", but also Techno just straight up died irl. It's definitely hard to finish a symphony or even a melody when one of the most important people in the crew is gone and never coming back. It doesn't really help that Alex was one of the only few people still dedicated to grinding and creating storylines for his character and anyone who would cross paths with him, so you know, once the one person motivated to still keep going ain't there anymore, what's the point right?

the main point is that if you watch one video of clownpierce or parrot or rekrap it litteraly give goosebums and after you completed it it's a chain that you watch other video as well and the storytelling where the knew how to low and high the pitch of your voice and the replay mod just look like you wating a short movie

@@KwikBR DSMP fell off a year and a half ago. The "finale" the other day, supposed to be this big moment, got 10% the views of what DSMP used to get. The Life Series gets millions of views a video. Hermitcraft has gone on for almost a decade and still gets millions of views and #2 on trending.

I mean, I'd say Hermitcraft and LastLife/DoubleLife/LimitedLife/whatever other name it has has also saved minecraft. Hermitcraft especially has been a constant of good, entertaining minecraft content throughout the years where minecraft has been "dead" before. Very good video nonetheless, LifeSteal SMP does seem to add a new dimension to Minecraft that other's dont. Good job

Yes, HERMITCRAFT + Grian's LIFE SERIES definitely. I'm sure LifeSteal has its own fandom, but just hasn't been mainstream.

One thing i feel like people misunderstand is, like you said, the allure of Lifesteal SMP. Many people make their own copies of popular SMPs by copying mechanics, but they don't understand that the main interest behind Lifesteal is the story, not the gameplay. So they can copy the features perfectly, but that still won't replace good storytelling or editing skills.

Lifesteal really revolutionized the idea of an SMP. If you look up minecraft content creators smps, there are a TON of content creators trying to make lifesteal copies. Props to you and all the members of lifesteal!

Another newer minecraft smp that i have been watching is the QSMP, including multiple members of the DreamSMP, but from what ive seen really only badboyhalo, quackity, and wilbursoot. But it is very entertaining, including both Spanish and English speakers, ran by quackity, who speaks both languages. There are all sorts of creators on there, even some who's channels dont even revolve around minecraft. The technology is very cool, with them having a live translation system using voice chat that you can actually see in game so that everybody can understand each other. Good smp, i recommend you watch it.

Well, if we are talking about WHOLE PLATFORM, than i know 1 russian youtuber, that have 10m subs, that has i think The best let's play series. He spend around 500 for 1 EPISODE. Theres a wholr team, that made models, animations, mods and, which is the main reason why its popular, the story. He is OG of Russian minecraft, truly a legend.
