I feel there was a missed gag opportunity with the canopener joke in the show. Sam brings the can opener close to the doorknob. Then the screen swiftly pans to the upper left to show a window build into the door just offscreen that she breaks with the can opener and unlocks the door from the other side.

Yep this^ I'd add a closeup look of intense concentration on Sam's face in between showing her raising the canopener to the doorknob and the cut to the other side of the door. And maybe a callback later where she says something along the lines "I've never used one before, Okay? It's an OPENER, it supposed to open things!"
@BloodWired
@BloodWired 8 ай бұрын
I have a suspicion that the English actors also thought the script was weird and purposely dropped the “prying device” line to show how stupid it was to use a can opener. I like your idea though, because it would also double down that they have no idea how simple tools are supposed to work.

Even though this video is pretty old I appreciate that the opening segment doesn't go the 10-minute disclaimer "this is my opinion and I demand that you respect it" route. A lot of creators sadly don't trust their audience so they tend to make their disclaimer a backhanded "here come the pitchforks!" spiel. As you said in your Top 10 Worst Mr Enter Videos list, rule no. 1 - never insult the audience. And being from 2017 I like how this video sticks to that rule.

I admit this episode has one of my favorite Enter bits where the old wizard returns since... what the original 2014 Nicktoons month John did and Enter asks where he was and he says he was getting real maple syrup (which BTW I admit is one of those things that have made me more picky about the syrup I buy then I was before) and the wizard saying he actually likes Totally Spies. One of my favorite examples of internal consistency was on Power Rangers. There is gravity on the moon. This is shown multiple times over the years. They kept consistent with it. Also, the Rangers generally only have secret identities to the general public. The bad guys always know their real names. On the shows that it's secret, they only morph in front of the villains. They always avoid being seen by the public.

The best and most iconic one in my opinion 23:33 To be fair, isn't that the type of joke of "Character with Y thing saying Z thing is ugly, not realizing Z thing and Y thing are the same" ? And Clover isn't the brightest bulb so..... that kinda fits 25:12 Jerry. Just pull the trick of "kidnapping the people with the spy gene for interviews, and sent them back if they failed". You can even say "sure. go ahead and tell people i tried to recruit you into a spy organization. they won't believe you without proof"

40:18 Fun fact, in WW2 this exact thing was done by the British, they literally just walked up to some German guys home in neutral Goa, knocked on the door pushed their way in, then tied up and kidnapped this German guy and his wife, and as they took them to their waiting car, the German guy screamed his head off, and basically no one cared. It was only after multiple minutes of screaming that a police officer STARTED to make his way over to the group. This operation was done by the SOE, basically Britain's WW2 Spies, so really this plot point isn't all that unbelievable. "Operation Creek", look it up fairly fun read honestly.

30:40 There actually IS an in universe explanation for Clark Kent's glasses. Back in the day Superman had "super hypnotism" as a power, and his glasses were made out of a couple pieces of glass from the space ship he came to Earth in. The Kryptonian glass works with his super hypnotism power to put out a constant suggestion of "this man is not Superman" which leaves a post-hypnotic suggestion for anyone who looks at a picture of him after the fact. I'm not kidding, that actually is true. Also because of all the fetish stuff I kind of want to mention that it is a canon fact that Mount Lady from My Hero Academia charges groups of men for the privilege of being stepped on by her. There were giantess and foot fetish clips in the review so y'know, I guess I just wanted to ruin some people's day.

Speaking of Clark Kent's glasses, someone posted a picture of Zoe Deschanel when she wasn't playing a wide eye quirky girl compared to "New Girl" with the caption "I now understand how people could have been fooled" (because while there was a resemblance she looked like 2 related but not identical people). Christopher Reeves in the Richard Donner cut of Superman 2 when he reveals himself to Lois also really shows the transformation; bumbling Clark loses his glasses after Lois "shoots" him, and there's like a "Jeckle Hyde" transformation just with acting. Just saying, it's not quite as laughable as Scooby Doo or Bugs Bunny putting on a dress and everyone somehow overlooks the tail and fur.

I feel like this episode could've been much better if it turned out their moms were retired spies and that's why they were opposed to their children doing a dangerous job like they used to. Or something like that.

Figuring out how to open a door with a can opener might be a fun challenge to give to LockPickingLawyer.

I disagree. The dialogue isn’t the worst portion of this show…the plot holes are. From can openers that open doors to spy genes to detecting spy genes to not using said machine that detects spy genes to suds that make you have spy genes to no one noticing loud, violent kidnappings to spy genes and more spy genes to women who with no training hack into computer mainframes to viruses the sizes of golf balls, everything is just wrong. Like, even for a kid’s show this is stupid. Grade F for lack of logic.

Me: How do I crack the case of where my hidden fetishes stemmed from? Mr Enter: Oh that's easy. Use a can opener.

Hey has anyone figured out how to open a door with a can opener?

The reason why you couldn't open the door with a can opener is clearly because you don't have the spy gene. Haha xD

I personally love Totally Spies. I appreciated seeing 3 badass girls who could take care of themselves when I was a teen. And it has another season coming.

Don't worry, I won't skewer you for talking about korra. I like parts of the show but it completely fails to live up to continue the legacy of Avatar the Last Airbender
