I'm impressed you remember your 5 year old pokemon journey so well! I have absolutely no idea what pokemon I used on my first journey. Pretty sure I used blastoise, but other than that I have no clue.

My first experience playing pokemon was only using my starter for the ENTIRE GAME and getting stuck before the elite four because I couldn't figure out where to find waterfall in Silver. My typhlosion was level 82 by the time I got to the league.

One of my earliest Poke memories is that I was getting murdered by onix repeatedly until I started another game with Squirtle and couldn't believe it when it just deleted onix with Bubble

this brings back memories, like not understanding typing and beating Brock with a chameleon, or me finally understanding typing and beating Misty with 3 oddish

I remember only beating Oras after restating it 13 times

I played Silver first and I just remember having a Feraligator and a Togetic named Toby and I was stuck at capturing Lugia and never could cause I had like 2 pokeballs and just kept taking the game out to try again. I don't think I ever caught it...

My first game was Crystal and the only part of the game I fully grasped was Type Match Up. I had no real sense of strategy and got rid of moves that didn’t do damage because I thought they were useless. I only gave my Pokémon moves that were the same type. The fact I beat the elite four was nothing short of a miracle

As someone who couldn't read when playing his first game either (or rather his brothers games), I often restarted their games and then tried to make up for the lost progress before they notice which ofc wasn't possible but I think I didn't save most of the time so no big deal after all ... usually

Dumb thing I did was think a shiny wooper I caught in my Diamond version would change back into its normal color. So I named it hate and tossed it in the box. Times that with a number of shines over the years (at that point of time i had 12) and me not learning what a shiny was until X and Y when I was 21. I am dumb

Dumb things I did when I first played pokemon- 1st- only used one pokemon and nothing else, so I had a level 50 Venusaur and a bunch of randoms on my team that were level 5. 2nd- when I learned to actually use the other pokemon on my team, I seemed to forget taking pokemon from the PC was a thing, so for the whole game my team was just my starter plus catches from Routes 1, 2 and Viridian Forest 😅

One of my first memories with Pokemon was in Pokemon crystal (my first pkmn game) i remember taking Chikorita and catching a pidgey, i tried taking on falkner and got defeated abd one person in the game told me that flying type Pokemon r weak to rock type so u went and caught a Geodude and after i defeated Faulkner with rock throw i thought it was the BEST move and so i defeated all gym Leanders up till Morty and i wasn't able to defeat that steel type gym leader (forget her name) and at that time my geodude evolved into a graveler and was at lvl 50 or smt like that

8 year old me used the masterball on Kecleon because I thought he was super rare. I used him, Volbeat (I liked moonlight), Sceptile, Swellow, Mightyena, and a Machop I never evolved for some reason even though he was high leveled enough

Did we all have the same Pokemon experience when we first started? lol My first game was Fire Red, I chose Bulbasaur on accident because I button mashed. All my Pokemon's nicknames were just the first few letters of their name (So Pikachu was Pika. Nidoran was Nido, etc.) ... Except my Bulbasaur, for some reason I nicknamed him Grasshass...idk. I used my Master Ball on a Pikachu, and I didn't really understand the concept of leveling up a team, so I ONLY leveled up my Bulbsaur. I couldn't beat the Elite Four. Asked my older cousin to do it for me, to which he happily obliged until he realized I only have a level 84 Venusar lmfao. Good times.

You're not alone!! I was VERY DUM too with Pokemon. My first pokemon game was Pokemon Emerald. So I was still a big Noob. I was so dum!! First dummy act that I did is not being able to find the way to Petalburgh city. It took me like 3 days to know where it is and it is just on the left side of the second town... I beat Roxanne, the first gym leader, in like 5 times!! All because I didn't know how to SAVE THE GAME and I was too stubborn to google how. I did managed to figure it out on my own, but it took me like 2 days😅😅 I also remember bragging about beating Roxanne, with my over-leveled Marshtomp, and my very under-leveled early route pokemons. I even remember bragging, I should be the gym leader instead, instead of her. I also released a shiny Poochyena because I just "feel like it" (which made me face palm, after being a pokemon fan for 1 year after that) I also didn't catch a very rare female Wailord all because it was "female" and not male (I'm very picky of the gender of my pokemon) Which I run away from and I started searching for a male one but no luck, until I rage-quitted and never again. Also, my Swampert's moveset are all HMs. And the hardest gym leader for me was Juan (face palm) Because of his double team spammer Kingdra. I've had my Gardevoir learn Thunderbolt (she was level 37) to beat his level 46 Kingdra. And omg!! Even if she was underleveled she was still able to beat Kingdra with Thundetbolts. Aaaaannnd I should probably stop typing now...
