This PTC Creo 3.0 tutorial will show how to animate the assembly of ‘Bolt and Nut’ using the Creo Mechanism application. This application is used to move and analyze the motion of a Mechanism.
First, we will place the Bolt part in the assembly and assemble it at default location. Next, we will place the Bolt part and a pre-defined constraint set ‘Cylinder’ will be applied which provides two-axis joints, Translation and Rotation. Later we will apply two Servo Motors on both axes to run the Nut over the Bolt like a screw mechanism.
The Pitch used in creating the Bolt and Nut is 0.05 (1/20) inch. That is why one servo motor will run at a velocity of 360°/second that will provide rotating motion and second servo motor will run at a velocity of 0.05 inch/second which will provide translation motion. When we run the Dynamic Analysis for 20 seconds the Nut will travel 1-inch distance over the Bolt.
By watching this tutorial viewers will observe as well as learn the following tools/commands of the software:--
1. Placing components in the assembly.
2. Applying component references to fully constrained components
3. Using pre-defined constraint set which are used for creating mechanism.
4. Using Creo Mechanism Application.
5. Inserting Servo Motor.
6. Dynamic Analysis of Mechanism.
7. Using Playback command which is used to replay the previously run analysis.

Did no one realize that the nut turns into the wrong direction? By turning it counterclockwise it would never run deeper onto the screw.

In servo motors setting fill the angular velocity -360 degree per second instead of 360 degree per second. The direction will be changed.

Hello thanks for the modelling.. I wanna ask would it be OK for the nut if had not given the translational motion since because of the thread it would already have moved by just the motion of bolt.?

This seems unnecessarily complicated, as it is usually the case with any creo function. Refer to solidworks screw mechanical mates, and see how easy it is to do it using solidworks. Solidworks > Creo
