I find it ironic that throughout the entire series, the only character who actually changed and grew, was Kouga. He starts off borderline evil, uncaring, and as hotheaded and cooky as Iuyasha. But he actually changes. He stops being evil, stops eating humans, mellows out some, and learns from his mistakes when stops trying to challenge Inuyaha to win Kagome, and instead tries bringing her gifts. The only personality trait he keeps is being cooky in battle.
@sirjedisentinel9 жыл бұрын
shadowspider9 Well if I remember, Sessomaru also goes through changes. He hates Inuyasha because he's a half-demon (tainting his family lineage), he blames Inuyasha for the death of their father, and is furious that his father's sword Tessaiga was left to his younger half-brother. The series basically sets him up from the beginning as an antagonist. ... AND THEN they introduce Rin. And his character changes and becomes interesting.

Sango should have been the one to relate to him the most. If you think about it, she should have known what it’s like to want to be with someone after they’ve been brought back from the dead. Also, sango wants to shame inuyasha yet she wanted to be with a unfaithful womanizer who kept sexually harassing women.

Bruh I know kagome uses osuwari too regularly but the only reason she keeps it on Inuyasha is because of how reckless he can be. The beads of subjugation are a pretty big factor in why Inuyasha learns how humans feel, and how to behave with more empathy, even if it just seems like a heartless gag it has a purpose. And sango absolutely resents mirokus lechery and only marries him when she's convinced he's officially chosen her alone. they could definitely be more empathetic about kikyo but the gang spends almost all day every day listening to Inuyasha bitch and moan and insult everyone constantly. It makes sense that they see "sit" as a valid consequence for his arrogance and seemingly apathetic behavior sometimes. Inuyasha is an official good boy but he's also incredibly crass and impulsive. Kagome is a 15 year old girl trying to keep Inuyasha safe while also trying to respect other people's feelings. She knows Inuyasha will be okay but the random people they interact with who are emotional and vulnerable do to some demon nonsense or what have you, they need kagomes empathy and compassion in those moments where Inuyasha can be insensitive. That's why the beads of subjugation are important because it shows that as much as Inuyasha wants to be a nice human man, he's part demon and has a lot of growing to do. Osuwari is harsh but growing past your inner demons IS harsh and that's basically what they're there for.

WARNING INCOMING RANT IF YOU ARE A FANBOY OR FANGIRL OF THE SERIES DO NOT READ: I WILL NOT BE RESPONDING SO DON'T ATTEMPT TO DRAW ME OUT: Going along with the point of the abusive relationship in InuYasha is the fact that the fucking Peanut Gallery of Shippo Songo and Miroku ALWAYS AND I MEAN ALWAYS side with Kagome and literally couldn't give two shits about InuYasha even though the majority of the emotional load is being carried by him. He's the one whose heart was broken by betrayal he's the one that had to learn to open up to others and he's the one that genuinely wanted revenge. Yet despite the situation he's in especially when dealing with Kikyo none of those so-called friends ever tried to talk to him about it and try to understand why it's such a touchy situation for him. Instead they keep on telling him to choose one (Kagome) and not at any single instance has any of them ever felt any sympathy or empathy for him. But what do they ever do blindly side with Kagome whenever she gets violently upset. over the most mundane and pettiest things. They get upset whenever Kagome feels jealous over Kikyo and beats InuYasha down with the morality stick yet whenever he feels jealous over Koga they put him down for being jealous while she revels in making him feel that way. In the end Kagome isn't actually in love with InuYasha she's in love with CONTROLLING InuYasha she wants his every moment to be solely about paying attention to her and her pitiful woes, yet InuYasha is forced to deal with all the past baggage and regrets from before they every met on his own. And that the one that truly loved him was in fact Kikyo who during her dying moments asked him to let her go because she had no right be be amongst the living even if it was to avenge their tragic betrayal.

I find that Inu Yasha being stripped of his free will is the cruellest of acts given to him. In a much MUCH better story such as Berserk: The idea of Will in that world is that all is controlled by an evil entity that made characters (Such as Griffith) choose a path to satisfy that entities goal. His was of War and Glory so that He can rule an entire country of his own. But the sad part of it is that it was all staged so that he can become a Demon (Or angel) as one of the GodHand. As for Gatts (Or Guts), He had to fight his entire life to keep a semblance of Will, althought to great consequences. Quite the personal war. However for Inu, His free will is being dictated by a school girl, all played for laugh. Watching that show, I never had laughed at any of those *SIT BOY* moments. It wouldve worked if Kagome was the vilain and tried to control Inu Yasha (A La Magneto to Wolverine), That wouldve made that show way better!

Realistically speaking, Kagome's constant time-travelling and mingling with people's ancestors and major historical figures could've SERIOUSLY affected the present timeline. They do it right in DBZ with Trunk's interference of the OG timeline created an ALTERNATE timeline. But here.......no.......no......this is plainly a fangirl's dream come true
@somedudewhodraws9377 Жыл бұрын
Yeh good point. In Z Trunks came back in time to warn them of the Androids but its different. He knew of 17 and 18 but not 16 and 19. Him going back in time cause Gero and 19 to appear. And it does not help 13 14 and 15 appeared as well. Kagome doing this all the time again could have messed up the present time like u said. I can tolerate a tsundere if they're written well, namely if their personalities balance out: for every short-tempered action they take, we get just as many moments where they are nice. That's the big problem with most manga: they play up the violent side WAY TOO MUCH, to the point of making the few "nice" moments seem forced and insincere. Asuna Kagurazaka, a character supposedly based on Naru Narusegawa, certainly has a temper, but never hurts the male protagonist in an over-the-top way, will not hesitate to help him when he's in a jam, is unashamedly willing to acknowledge when she made a mistake, is far from useless, and only hits him (usually ranging from just a light bonk to a not-quite-light-but-not-overly-brutal punch on the head) when he intentionally does something reckless or stupid that puts his own safety (or the safety of others) at risk.

I know this is an older video, but I will try to explain the whole "bad boy" affinity women and girls have. The notion is not to change the bad boy, but to tame him. The bad boy's appeal is, coincidentally enough, the same reason one would want a guard dog. The core idea is that the bad boy can be tamed so that they're kind and sweet and gentle with the woman, but ruthless towards their enemies, and will do anything to make her happy. You can see why this is doomed to fail.

My biggest problem with Takahashi, aside from her repetitive use of dysfunctional couples that aren't really couples, is that she fails to understand that some things just can't be played for comedy. A deluded, hypocritical, misogynistic dad trying to warp his daughter's mind because he refuses to accept the fact that she's a girl; a gynophobic boy who gets tortured routinely by a girl who claims to "love" him, and then gets beaten up by other boys because they are jealous of the "attention" said girl gives him, while other girls think it's romantic; people blaming others for their problems everywhere you look; bratty tsunderes that we're supposed to root for, but just come off as Jerk Sues; an utterly reprehensible person always getting away with their crimes without the slightest bit of consequence, etc. These things, among others, cannot--and should not--EVER be treated as something you're supposed to laugh at.

Inuyasha has that mixed bag that comes with being a gateway anime (at least it was for me) lots of good concepts and even good moments that I can look back on and like without complaint (The Band of the Seven and Saint Hakushin) but with iffy executions and tropes that started to grate once you became more familiar with anime and lost patience for it. I didn't mind love triangles when I first watched the anime, but now I can't fucking stand them. But there's still a lot of good memories I have of Inyuasha. I remember recording it (on a fucking VHS tape of all things) and watching it ritualistically. It was the first anime that I watched ritualistically that I didn't have a box set of (and even then my box set of anime was limited to season 2 of Sailor Moon). So I happily watch people rift on it, but I also happily remember the good times. Because that's life in a lot of ways. As much as I love Inuyasha--not to mention growing up with the series, there's one thing that BUGS me. Kagome. Oh my God, I tried to like her but she's just a spoiled brat. I hate the way she always yells at Inuyasha, treats him like a dog (literally) and abuses her power of saying "SIT" just for silly things. When Inuyasha acknowledged Kikyo, a former lover of his, Kagome would get all sad, even when she insisted Inuyasha on going to see if Kikyo was alright, Kagome would STILL get upset, what the hell? What always irked me was when Moroku, Songo and Shippo would always..ALWAYS side with Kagome, no matter what the issue was, never even bothering to know how Inuyasha feels. Her voice was degrading, her attitude was annoying, she was just not that much of a likable character. And other reasons So I can't blame anyone who dislikes or even hates this show

How is Wolverine a stereotypical "bad-boy?" He is a huge favorite among men/young boys; being their power fantasy fulfilment character, being ripped as all hell and a complete badass. And his live-action counterpart is equally favorited and drooled over by woman. Not to mention, he has a LONG list of problems stemming from REAL trauma he's had in his life. So he has every right to be moody and brooding.

He was made about this so he randomly had Logan fall in love with Jean because he didn't want Jean and Scott to be happy.

Some of the bad boys you listed aren't liked because women want to fix them, in some cases, it's because there's a chance for them to redeem themselves. Examples are Vegeta, or the original Vergil (not the remake one, that one''s a complete psycho). Especially Vegeta's arc is extremely lengthy (Spans the whole series, really) and a lot of women I know like him for the same reason Bulma eventually does: there's good in him, and when he turns over a new life, he's actually a good father too. I agree on some of them though. Add Loki from the MCU to the list too...

I admit I liked this show as a teenager, mainly for the magic and battles and Miroku and Sango, but I never cared for the necklace. It was necessary the first few episodes to defend herself while Inuyasha was still being violent, and for a few episodes later down the line when his demon half took over and Kagome had to defend herself and others, but the time, she used it vindictively, hurting him just for laughs or just because she couldn't control her own jealousy and anger. It wasn't funny, and the joke wore out its welcome immediately. This is not funny, it doesn't send a positive message about relationships, and it could have been written out of the show all together. So yeah, I'm with you on that f%$# the necklace and Kagome.

Someone commented on it here, and I'm sure I have too, but just in case; it's only the anime that has unfortunate implications of abusive relationships; none of that is present in the manga. I agree wholeheartedly Sage. I really don't get the author's fetish for whipped main characters. It's just incredibly annoying. It's kind of frightening to admit Inuyasha gets off lightly in comparison to Rumiko-bitch's previous shitty main character, *Ranma Saotome* who was just a more submissive Inuyasha. I wonder how Inuyasha (or any of her series became so popular) when they're so frustratingly written. The "romance" is stale, bland and most of all, overbearing when you think about it rationally. Inuyasha's and Kagome's nonsensical relationship is built upon childish bickering and power struggles. Why? Why do so many fucking authors have their main couple bickering like children? Can't a relationship be more playful and fun? There is no reason in seeing *Kagome* and *Inuyasha* consistently trying to overpower one another. Miroku's and Sango's relationship is simply built upon lust... Simply put. Quite frankly, that doesn't cut it for me. What emotional connection did the two establish before it was revealed they were romantically interested in each other? Miroku touching Sango's ass and flirting with every girl he lays eyes on does not establish the two understanding each other emotionally, It just depicts Miroku as a shameless womanizer who Sango stays with because there's no else to lean on. Pathetic. Shippo, what was the point of him again? He was so useless and so ungodly annoying I wanted the author to kill him off. I don't know what it is with Rumiko and her arbitrary tiny extensions, (Shippo, Rin, Jaken) to other more prominent characters like Kagome and Sesshomaru, but these unnecessary characters really didn't need to be in the show. There are other ways of going about giving your characters more dimensions than just lazily giving him/her an extension, especially ones that can't even fucking fight in an action-oriented series. CHRIST. On to Sesshomaru's character... really, fangirls? He's so bland I could puke. He does nothing proactive and is mostly just talk. I hate characters like Sesshomaru who are all bark and no bite Inuyasha's horrible... rightly put. Great review, man. Any chance you could do a review of the amazingly overrated and obnoxious piece of shit *Ranma 1/2* :p

Okay, I have to admit, I loved Zuko and Vegeta. Not for simpy being the token 'bad boy', but for their struggles and how they overcame them (and the whole bad guy gone good is kinda my thing). As for Vegeta, he actually worked to get to where he is today. Unlike Goku, he actually struggled to attain his goals, constantly playing catch-up the with his far superior fellow Super Saiyan. I admired Zuko for his change in heart and ability to adapt. It was nice to see characters actually (to some extent) grow and change, unlike many of the protagonists in shows like these. Maybe it was the fact that he didn't just start out 'morally correct' and 'perfect' like so many protagonist. Maybe it was the fact that these types of characters are always the underdogs, always being out-shined by the ridiculously op mps that made me really root for them and, therefore, like them. Probably a combination of that and more. Anyway, I really enjoyed the video. I just recently discovered your channel, but I'm loving it so far. Keep up the good work.

This review is a tad harsh, and a lot biased, but it's funny as hell! Not to mention all the truth in your arguments! Honestly, Inuyasha is just another major example of Rumiko Takahashi's failings as a writer and storyteller. Pretty much all of her manga (and their anime adaptations) are easy to get sucked into, which means she has a pretty good grasp on how to make interesting concepts. But most of them get stale pretty quickly. She has trouble with pacing, and CLAMP level problems with making actually good endings, or just making endings at all. The only works of hers that I would measure with actual quality are Maison Ikkoku and Mermaid Forest. And some of her oneshots are pretty decent too. And this is all without mentioning her bad habit of double standard abuse from her female leads, who also have the annoying tendency to be tsundere. Her over-reliance on "they bicker constantly, so they're obviously in love" just got on my nerves so quickly! But Christ was she popular back in the day! I think I remember reading that she was the richest women in Japan for a while! I don't hate you at all Rumiko, but there is only so much padding and stupid running gags I can take!

+cloudstrife4534 I hated when she killed off few popular villiains mostly Kagura and Kanna , especially the way she finished off Kanna , which was not only rushed but had no real reason to it , as to why oh God why we could not make this bold twist of having Kanna be the only Naraku's detachment that outlived her creator and it was eve hinted out before her death that she could have actually lived throught it , also she was really an under developed character. Kanna could have been putted to good use as she was the closest detachment to Naraku and knew most of his secrets , but instead they had her killed in a pointless battle.

It's so hilarious that you keep saying kagome like that. I have had a joke with my friends for years about inuyasha how half the dialogue in the series boils down to: "KAGOMEEE!" "INUYASHA!" as she's getting stolen away by the demon of the week.

The entire "noooooooo" grunt opener is basically my reaction to hearing Rumiko's next neverending series (Rin-ne) is becoming an anime soon....

Oh, man. 6 years later and this intro is still one of the funniest I' ve seen.

The skit in the beginning is still probably my favorite Anime Abandon moment. My mind, from time to time, goes back to Bennett snarling "NOOO" with a feather duster in hand.

You should have inserted KYOJI!!!!!!!! from G Gundam when you were showing people who were screaming names.

I recently just completed the whole series and I find this review hilarious. I gotta admit. I watched this when I was really young and I absolutely adored the series and wanted Kagome and Inuyasha to be together. Would've easily sided with Kagome and justify whatever she does. Its super blurry to me so I decided to start from the beginning and completing the timeline with the Final Act. As a grown adult now and going through a bit more of life and relationships with people around me, I don't know how many times i cringed with their repetitive toxic actions towards one another. Kagome and Inuyasha's relationship is probably one of the best examples of a toxic relationship. But what do i expect from a 9th grader and obviously a half demon who cant understand her because she is reacting and not communicating well? Am i right? damn. I wont lie, there were scenes i loved, cried and laughed but I speed-watched most of the episodes and skipping some scenes because it was draggy and repetitive. I also find the dub version not to my liking. I know that they would definitely defeat Naraku in the end but it does matter how it ends and I am more of a practical person. I felt like i was left dirty with the ending. I still could not understand how does Kagome staying in the past not affecting present times. Personally, wouldve been more realistic if the reincarnation of Inuyasha met her in present time and with the years gone by she would have 'growth'. I needed closure thats why i am watching these review videos. Anyway, thanks for this review!

Inuyasha kills the big bad old demon boss with his sword and Kagome with her bow and arrow!....which totally isn't Link and Zelda strategy against Gannondorf you guys!

More than anything the love triangles and the terribly skewed relationship dynamics in favor of the girl characters really killed it for me when I watched this 10+ years ago. Its a shonen in name only. As far as I know, only girls with romance fantasies liked this crap. Ranma 1/2 is like this too- but at least its more laid back and funny.
@LightningAsh8 жыл бұрын
Only for the first 30 episodes. After that Ranma just gets straight up annoying, repeating the same boring-ass jokes and gags it used from day one. Not to mention Ranma has possibly the most unlikeable cast of characters I have ever come across in anime. Bar none.

I watched Inuyasha long ago when it first aired, I liked it. I was also 10 to 14 and even through my memories of it are all I have to go on I've been able to pick it apart. Kikyo is easily the biggest cause of confusion for me even to this day. I still believe to this day that they couldn't have made a more boring uninteresting character with the personality of plain instant oat meal if they had intensionally done so.

Lol I remember I watched the entire series with my ex, she just finally saw Dragon Ball and was frothing for more. She was determined this was the new thing, I kept saying how if inuyasha stayed in modern Tokyo it would be so much interesting to have him dive between realities. Seriously. Think girls just like this show because it does capture that teenage girl thing really well, that's about it tho.
