Edward Kay'est agreed. A lot of the characters were more fleshed out. Each season should have been 20 episodes to really have time to develop the full roster.

@@ThatCho In fact, the biggest flaw of the crystal is the absence of characterization of the characters, the viewer has no way of becoming attached to any of them, and the villains are really flat and without personality, while in the 90s there were so many subplots that they also made you unkind to the bad guys, proving their humanity even if they were bad, this last aspect I think is really important also on a moral level, notwithstanding the different positions (bad neutral etcc et) you are all beings that feel emotions.

@@VenereBionda Really well-said. I know that they are trying to stay true to the manga story-telling, but that doesn't mean they have to deny us of that critical characterization. The one thing I loved about the 90s anime was how complexly they made you think about what it means to be "a villain". I even felt bad for Esmeraude as her blind adoration of Prince Diamond made her extremely jealous & overly ambitious, ultimately leading to her downfall. Anyway, I wish Crystal had done better...

@@ThatCho The villains in the 90s series had even better stories than their Sailor counterparts, just think of the tragic story of Kaolinite who madly loved Dr Tomoe and would have done anything for him (it was not by chance that he was perhaps the most useful villain and to his stronger time than the anime as it has resisted a planetary sailor attack it has caught the true identity of Sailor Moon and managed to kidnap Chibiusa) All this and then die in such a brutal and cynical way, ignored and forgotten, even by whom she loved so much.
