Don't be afraid of genshin just because it's "gacha", it's not as bad in genshin as people make it out to be, it's just a stigma because of all the other bad gachas out there; genshin feels like an AAA open-world aRPG title and is amazing for f2p. It has more in common with witcher 3 than with a typical gacha. The only place where paying gives you advantage is an endgame dungeon that can be replayed every two weeks. It's still doable without spending, just a bit harder and requires more game knowledge. And if you don't do a full dungeon, it doesn't even matter, you can easily do only a part of it and get the most rewards with any characters, as long as they're built; simply because you will have level advantage. People don't usually pay in genshin for advantage, really. But rather, for new characters, because more characters = more variety in gameplay. It's rare in these games, usually there's terrible powercreep but not in genshin; here even some of the 4 star characters that were released 3 years ago are still meta. There is a ton of exploration, a lot of lore, fun quests, a cohesive fantasy world where almost everything has an explanation of sorts and makes sense, and there's beautiful music and gorgeous landscapes. Just give it a try some time.

I refused to play genshin for a very long time, despite it being recommended to me left and right for almost 2 years. One day last year around April, I was feeling bored and wanted to play a new game. I know I love open world exploration games, I love combat, I love a good story, great visuals, and I need jawdropping music. I remembered genshin is free. I've been addicted for the past 7-8 months. I went from avoiding the game and laughing at people who play it to begging my friends to try it out. It has its flaws, like any other game out there. But man do the pros outweigh them. The game is simply amazing. Has so much to offer. I feel character demos only scratch the surface of it. Genshin will have you immersed the more you play it. Like some other people mentioned, try reacting to the version trailers, maybe the first couple, so if you decide to play the game, you don't spoil too much of the story, unless you don't care too much about spoilers. But I do recommend it!

Would have been nice to see your reaction to her due to her...attributes.😆 Games with a huge cast is not only a common thing in Gacha games but strategy-based RPGs as well long before gacha games became a thing. Whether you should play Genshin depends on how much self control you have since gacha games, in general, thrive on their ability to entice players to spend. You don't need to pay at all to simply progress in the game but it being an action-RPG, it does help to have some gamer skills.

Unless you have a gambaling addition, I would not be too afraid of the gacha aspect. I have never spent a dime and I have some seriously powerful characters. I do not want to spend any money as I am afaid it will make the game too easy. I hope they offer some good merchandise I can get a hold of though. If someone makes a good product, I want to support that somehow.

Honestly, Genshin is my first Gacha Game, and while I do spend a bit to help get new characters and better weapons, I was Free to Play for months and still got new characters. I have tried a few other Gacha games and Genshin is far less pushy with the Gacha mechanics and plenty of people play completely F2P and still get some new characters and clear most of the harder content just fine. Think of it as a HUGE (and I do mean HUGE, we are soon getting even more area on the Map) open world RPG with some Co-op and regular updates every 6 weeks, fun Events, side Quests, Festivals, and some of the best World Building and Music, and if you want you can chip in to help fund a totally free game that competes with $70 AAA titles.
