The worst part about this movie is that we were promised an Arceus cameo, but it was literally for three seconds.

They also completely misrepresented all the legendarys. I mean come on, Dialga and Palkia could have solved the spacial distortion themselves, and why is Groundon and Kyogre so small!? And yes Ash has long sense overstayed his welcome.

OK, let me listen the reasons why you hate this movie: 1. It contains Ash. 2. It has donuts. 3. Ash and friends are off course of the main objective. 4. It has the whole "friendship" cliche. 5. It advertised Mega Evolution, Cosplay Pikachu, and a lot of legendaries. 6. Team Rocket only has one purpose in the movie. OK, my question is: how is this different than the formula for other Pokemon movies? What makes this one SO much worse? Because it had a lot of potential? But why? Because it included LEGENDARY POKEMON? Is that it? Honestly, it is a mediocre movie. But, compared to ALL the other Pokemon movies, it's the same, if not BETTER than some of them. The whole friendship cliche, the off course coincidental destination, the advertising? I mean, why do you think they make these movies (besides money)? TO ADVERTISE OTHER POKEMON MERCHANDISE TO CHILDREN! I honestly don't see what makes this movie so "bad" in your eyes, ESPECIALLY when you're comparing it to all the larger movies. Yes, Hoops's catchphrase WAS annoying and overused, I will agree with that. But it was mischievous for a reason. That's just how it acts. I mean, it's Pokedex entry even states this. It's just that: I never saw this movie as bad. I actually took the destruction of the city as a GOOD sign: it means that the Pokemon Company is ready to make content for younger children while adding more epic and extreme violence to entertain older viewers. This is just my opinion, and this video is your opinion as well. But, you must admit, advertising this movie as the WORST Pokemon movie ever is a little harsh. (Also, F. Y. I, there IS a desert in Kalos: it's north of Lumiose City. Just wanted to point this out.)

A lot of the nit-picking doesn't actually make sense. I'm over analyzing your analysis, with a bit of "Subbed Knowledge" to go with. (Hoopa destroys things because he wants to) JP version explains this: The villagers started wishing for Hoopa to show his strength by besting mythical pokemon the world over, and Hoopa got drunk on the power. ("WHY DO YOU WANT THIS THING!") Yatta yatta: Restore Hoopa to his true self and help him and the city progress together, yatta yatta friendship. (Ignore, you addressed this later) (How did you get into a Desert from Kalos!) North Western Kalos is a Desert area. (Doughnuts) Actually, the Doughnuts make perfect sense a cultural delicacy from a region of the world who worship/appease a Pokemon known for it's RINGS would have a Delicacy paying homage to that pokemon, say a pastry of dough in the shape of it's rings? I thought it was INCREDIBLY clever. (Are you surprised?/Alles-Hoopa-Ring!) I for one think his catchphrases are cute, and I'm sure you know is common in Anime, just like One Piece's "Signature Laughs" (Adverts) Seriously, it only makes sense that in a battle of the most powerful of them all, or "Clash of Ages" as it were, it only makes sense to go all out with Mega-evolution. The only "blatant ad" was the Cosplay Pikachu, who mades sense for Hoopa to prank Ash with "look at all these Pikachu! Which one is yours?! ...Why is that one wearing a dress... wait... no... those don't fit at all..." (Translation Error) they make more sense in the JP yeah, something along the lines of Ash actually controlling the rage only enough so that it could speak to Hoopa instead of outright coming out of the bottle. (Ash and Team Rocket: One shot wonders) No, you're totally right, the writers could've done something WAY better seeing how fleshed out those characters are to implement them into the story better. So, I personally Adored the movie, and I recommend anyone who agrees with my nit-picking of nit-picking to watch the movie, and if you can, I TOTALLY recommend Subbed.

I loved it! I must say I have to respectfully disagree. One of your main problems I noticed was the whole 'Are you surprised?' thing. While you saw it as annoying, I saw it as cute and like a little sibling who just wants you to appreciate them.

Also, Palkia and Dialga should have caused some world fluxuation. Palkia is ruler of time, Dialga of space. They clashed once before, and "should meet on the same plane." so, just something else to add on to your rant.

Third, Hoopa didn't give the people what they wished for. Hoopa stole their food, and in return gave them Gold to make their farmlands more bountiful, so the people kept feeding Hoopa as thanks until they started stroking its ego and asking it to do battle with other Pokémon. At first, Hoopa battled small Pokémon, but then began fighting Legendaries and growing out of control. *I can't believe your false facts just made me defend this movie. THIS Movie....*

to be honest, I wouldn't want to question the kind of stuff that happened in pokemon because it just makes ur veins pop out specifically the towns and the pokemon center placement just say it's just convenient for the polt, and try to brush it aside

This movie could have been so much better, the trailer promised what would be a godzilla king of the monsters style event, and what we ended up with was so stupid, the battle was over so quick, arceus only showed up for 2 seconds and then left, the movie and the battle should have been longer, same way with diancie and the cocoon of destruction which should have been more epic with the battle leaving the forest to the town where xerneas would still sacrifice himself but not just saving the pokemon, and forest but also the city and people

The real reasons why Ash, Pikachu, and Team Rocket are still in the series are: 1. Brand recognition. People are familiar with these characters so keep them in, why change it. Plus since Pokémon is aimed directly at children usually these kids (before streaming became a thing) wouldn't watch the older series' so the current series that was on TV at the time is the one they grow up with as their first Pokémon series. So fans of all ages will have at least the protagonists and comedic antagonists as the same and bond over that while the locations, side characters, and Pokémon change. 2. The same reason why the Pokémon games ironically haven't "evolved" their formula over the past 25 years. The Pokémon Company sees no point in evolving the formula because this shit still sells like hotcakes. If you're making a billion dollars a year in revenue doing the same thing over and over again why change? Pokémon is aimed towards kids and parents who are familiar with and nostalgic for Pokémon are going to buy their kids the new Pokémon game. But just as much as kids they have a devoted adult following as well and they're where the real money is, so why risk changing things up and pissing off your audience? Sword and Shield for instance were very obviously made as cheaply as possible and it shows. Again it's gonna sell like crazy, better to cut costs and get it out for the holiday season than risk spending too much on improvements and potentially even losing money on a venture. This is part of how Pokémon is the highest grossing media franchise in the world. They make more than Disney! And Disney is much the same as far as operations go. Because it makes gazillions of dollars. That's capitalism baby. If innovation could lose you money, don't innovate. Safe investments make money.

I personally don't think that this is the worst pokémon movie. For me that spot goes to the 16th movie "Genesect and the Legend Awakened" mostly because they took possibly the most favorited pokémon from any movie prior - that being Mewtwo - and completely ruined it. When I saw the trailers for it, I was super excited to be getting Mewtwo in another movie - though in the trailers we never hear Mewtwo say anything, which I'm guessing was on purpose - and then I saw the movie and found out (spoiler alert) that It wasn't even the same Mewtwo. It was a different Mewtwo with the same backstory, except they've never met Ash and are portrayed as a female, where the original was portrayed as male.

How has ash done all the seasons of the anime in less then a year? How has he done those seasons, plus the movies in the timeline where the movies are canonical in less then a year? The pokemon universe is stuck in a timeloop or something because I call bs on ash being able to go to so many regions in less then a year. It just gets stupider with every season and makes me wish they would just do what power rangers does, rotate the cast with every season/region.

I tried to give this movie a chance. I like Hoopa as a Pokemon, and after some encouragement from a friend (who likes this film), I thought: "Why not? It can't be *that* bad...can it?" Long story short: Yes, this and Diancie are easily the worst Poke' films I've seen. They both have good ideas, and yet the execution was so bad...not even Keldeo's was this frustrating.

I haven't seen the Sun and Moon anime but after catching up on the XY anime, I find that XY is the best season so far and they ruined Pokemon anime but turning Ash into basically a 50's anime character in art design. Did they fire the artists after Season 7? :(

I remember a guide book I used to own that said stuff like how farfetch'd was endangered due to so many people thinking of it as a delicacy and an episode where ash, friends, and team rocket were stuck in the middle of an ocean, the only thing there was James's magikarp, and some of them started fantasizing about eating it. also, hoopa annoys me a lot because, aside from the reasons brought up in this video, he seems like a discount kyubey. travel-sized, grants wishes, and to me, they even sound similar.

And Latios died in the Heroes Movie. Even if it were the same Latias and Latios, the Latias would have been very happy to see Ash again, but she didn’t seem to remember him either
