I really love how Subaru's mom was prepping a barbecue for the fire she thought Subaru was gonna start😂😂

According to Tappei, if Subaru had never gotten isekai'ed, his father would have helped him work through all his traumas and would have eventually helped him to heal. so yeah, the point is, subaru getting isekai'ed essentially ruined his life. as he would have gotten better without getting isekaied

Subaru staring at the clock waiting for it to hit a certain point so he can have an excuse to not go to school but also have a sense of guilt was so damn relatable

His mom is specifically highlighted as ditzy and unable to read a room. So when she reveals to Subaru who always felt she didn't understand him that she actually knew practically everything about him cuz she watches him so much it broke me down. I also loved the part where they tell the story about how his father saved a guy from drowning and then went on to become wealthy and then his mom told the other half of the story I loved it.

Subaru's inferiority complex is a relatable premise because everyone has been there one time in their lives. We all start out as confident about having some sort of hidden talent that we have perfected through years of practice yet somehow we lose the spark as soon as someone else shows us that they can do that talent much better. It's a bittersweet feeling. Though we only have two options: keep at the talent and make it to your own style in order to fit the norm, or abandon it altogether and go against the norm. We had an idea what Subaru did following this episode.

....Incidentally, I read that the author mentioned that Subaru's parents are *still* looking for him, and that his mom is *not* taking his disappearance very wrll....

The part that made me cry was when Subaru's mom told him that even if he doesn't live up to his father, it's ok, because he's only half of him with the other being her's, so he doesn't need to fill that huge quota. It was a touching way of letting him know that expectations like those are meaningless, and Subaru needs to just be himself. He managed to earn the respect of so many and the love of 2 beautiful women in the other world by just being himself, not the son of some prodigy or the popular kid who had to make everyone smile. It's a powerful statement that tells us that we're better and stronger than we think, even if we don't realize it. And, I also cried when Subaru embraced his father when he realized he'd never see them again and fulfill his promise of taking care of them, mostly because I wish I had the same relationship with my real father. I don't speak to him for personal reasons and he's the source of a lot of issues I've been dealing with, so any form of media that has strong parental figures like this touch me at a deep level.

A neat detail i really love about this episode is a lot of scenes, especially outside scenes, have this weird atmosphere about them, making it obvious that all of these scenes are from his memory. And I love how certain scenes, like his room or his kitchen, are completely clear, while other scenes, like outside, are very faded because he doesn't remember it very well, as he didn't go outside often

Subaru's father reminds me of Ichigo's father, Isshin from Bleach.

Did anyone saw the poster in Subaru's room? The girls showcased, Kirin Toudou (Asterisk War) and Julie (Absolute Duo), both had long, white hair as if to point out Subaru really has a thing for girls with white hair lol. But that room alone has so many references and things I missed on. Would love to see a video of how many references they made in that one room.

More isekais need to do this cause when someone gets isekaid we never think about their past life

As an angel message, the meaning of 777 is reassurance that you are moving on a path towards something better. So maybe when Subaru gets 777 mayo lids it means that. Or I am just overthinking it idk

It wasn’t pain he was feeling it was anxiety something Subaru had to deal with everyday, the novel explicitly states it.

Damn this video made a lot more sense about Subaru's early behaviour in the anime. It makes up a lot for his actions. And a bit more hurting since he never get a chance to show his parents about his growth.

Spoilers: Apparently within the light novel as soon as Subaru leaves the classroom Echidna turns around and see that Satella was there for the first time. This was technically supposed our first reveal of the witch of Envy.

This video made me notice a parallel between Subaru and his dad. Someone on the Re:Zero Reddit translated an interview with Tappei Nagatsuki, addressing how Subaru's parents met. Kenichi rescued Naoko from a sketchy man one night. He then proceeds to see her with the same sketchy guy the next night. He thinks to himself that Naoko seems to not read people's intentions well and that he should look out for her. Subaru has this situation with Emilia in season one. Emilia lost something so important (her insignia) and was still willing to help Subaru, a complete stranger. Subaru realized that that kind of kind attitude gets her nowhere to achieving her goal, and decides to help her (though in the end, he is the one who slows her down).

My favorite episode of season 2. 10 out of 10. It so grounded in reality it's shocking. I felt every bit of the emotion, the terror, and the finality of it all. It's one of the few and far between Animes to bring a tears to my eyes.

they referenced his mayo love in a quatret episode where there was a fight over which dippin or something was superior for flavouring chicken. HE USES MAYO FOR CHICKEN

3:43 - 5:14 mometns like this makes me wish the Rem/Sloth If was actually canon (as in subaru gave up, lived his life, a part of him caused him to relive his life, sending him ALL THE WAY BACK to the events in Arc 3 and then we resume the story). It would make subaru's guilt hit even harder, especially because he would feel guilty about how He truly gave up, and a part of him wants to redeem himself in his own eyes.

The moment when he said that the father reached 7777 i dropped my phone (thank god on a soft surface) and double facepalmed.

if anyone still sees this video, think about this. What is there was a if route where when he took the 2nd trial in the sanctuary allowed him to be like isekaied back into his world similar to the 1st trial but it was after a few years/ months after he got isekaied to lagunica and he sees his parents in constant depression. And after awhile he wakes up and realizes it was all a dream
