In her interview, Anna stated that she does not compete with anyone on the ice, but simply tries to skate as well as she is capable of at the moment. Her winning gesture at the end says just that, not that she already felt like an Olympic champion. This is the rare case when an athlete loves sports in herself, and not herself in sports!

Absolutely agree with your comment. She really love figure skating and she skate her soul out. Always try to do all her maximum at the moment. Actually, she planned to land 3 quads in her free program but because of broken skate in three days before the start of the competition and need to roll with new skate and her knee injury start to interfere so she decided to do only 2 quads in the free program that is her maximum at that moment. She didn’t want to take risk because she wanted a clean performance at the Olympic game that is her dream. The look (her happiness) at the end of her free program said everything that her dream became true, two clean performances. Both of her performances are brilliant. @luceafarul579 Жыл бұрын
@@minus21334 I’m not doubting her abilities. I’m saying that it’s simply false to say this short program of hers is more difficult than Kamila’s. The ISU doesn’t agree. Kamila’s short program is clearly more difficult. And it also isn’t easy to do what Kamila does. Her port de bras simply cannot be beaten-that’s hard to do , sometimes especially with slower music where you can’t hear the cue nearly as much because in order to do the kind of Port De Bras that Kamila does you concentrate so much on upper body and also disassociate it with your skating. All three girls are very capable of skating to fast or slow music, it’s just a matter of their personal taste, not because they aren’t capable. The only difference is for Anna she’s a bit of a “all-arounder”, for Sasha she’s more of a jumper, and for Kamila she’s more of an artistic dancer.

It's even more impressive when you consider she apparently did this with an injury and using rental skates. Not only was this the Olympic gold performance, she got the gold with the highest score to date. Shouldn't have been a surprise since she won nationals with pneumonia. "Shcherbakova Iron Will" indeed. She's recovering from knee surgery now, but doubt that'll stop her seeing as nothing else has. Regardless, I admire her... stronger person than me or most. She’s the best because she’s the most complete skater NOW. She doesn’t have the most difficult technical content, so that doesn’t make her the « best » skater in term of technique (Trusova beats her on this point), but she’s mature and consistent she knows how to perform when needed (she had planned 3 jumps for her free but she felt like doing only 2). It could have been insufficient to beat Trusova but luckily it worked. She clearly have the artistry on her side too so she’s a complete skater with technical difficulty (2 quads, even though that’s not the highest someone can do), and maybe one of the best choreography and artistry today. I was expecting Trusova to win and I would have been super proud of her if she did (5 quads!!) but I’m happy with Anna too, they both deserve it, it’s a shame there isn’t 2 first places !!

Actually, Anna planned to do 3 quads in her free program but because of broken skate in three days before the start of the competition and her knee injury also start to interfere her that’s why she decided to do only 2 quads that is her maximum strength at that time. @@maouimaisnon2535 I’m pretty sure anna planned 3 quads for the team (not sure just what I’ve heard) Sasha has also had a very stressful season with no golds so I definitely feel for her. I reckon they could of put Sasha in the team (because 5 quads with a triple axel is risky) and then they would all have gold. For kamilla i don’t think it’s unfair at all, because sport is about being fair and being able to compete with a positive drug test is unfair for others
@maouimaisnon2535
@maouimaisnon2535 Жыл бұрын
@@annabanana4549 Kamila’s test wasn’t positive at the olympics, that’s why they allowed her to compete. The positive test was about Russian Nationals, and never should have arrived this late. But Eteri should have put Anna or Sasha instead of her, even if one of them failed they still would have win the team event. (If the test had come earlier, they could have had Kamila replaced by Liza, and the podium would undoubtedly have been 3xRussia). Now for Sasha’s short, doing a 3A was her decision. Her coaches had planned a 2A, but it was the Olympics, she wanted to put all the chances on her side and give her all (that doesn’t surprise me). If she had kept her 2A and skated a clean program, she would still have been behind Kamila and Anna (and Kaori). I think she did a better score with a failed 3A than she would have with a clean 2A program. With a 3A, even if it was risky, she still had the chance to make it and pass in front of Anna AND Kamila (since she failed too). Those points would have been precious. Unfortunately that didn’t work but she knew beforehand that her 3A wasn’t really consistent, she knew the risk and still went for it. Because it was her only chance. So I get why she did it, and it’s very Sasha-ish of her (I like her recklessness, she wouldn’t be the Sasha we know without it). So I think going for a 3A was the best option she had, failed or not.

I think the difference is Anna was smart enough to put out a 3A out of her programs. Sasha struggle her whole career with the 3A and takes it in her SP. This and the fact that Sasha looks like a mashine when she does other ice skating elements than jumps and anna like a elegant ice princess makes anna better. And shes a better olympic champion too. Sasha had a big mouth. Anna is a totally understatement woman. Sasha is too adorable to learn english. Anna speaks perfect english. And so on, and so on... I love anna. The one and only ❤

This has been such a difficult season for Anna, with its highs and lows, especially with the arrival of Kamila in seniors. In spite of all of this (including breaking her leg at one point in her life), and the hatred of some people, she has risen from all of this and showed the world (and herself) who she is and what she can do. THIS is the mark of a true champion, who never gives up, and finds the courage and inner strength inside themselves. This is what Anna has done. She is a true inspiration. And this is her well deserved award. She has earned this highest of accolades. I'm so joyful, happy and very, very proud of her!

Whenever people ask me why I supported Anna so relentlessly and held such strong belief that she was Champion material, I based it on her humble yet strong willed character. If you keep up with Russian skating, she was constantly bullied by the press, and her place in the Olympic team was hanging in the threads despite being Champion on multiple occasions, yet she remained dignified in her manner. She asserts that her job is not to speculate on matters and decisions, but it is to simply skate well. That kind of character brings people places, and she is pure evidence of resiliency. Her winning the Gold was very significant because she was constantly put down, and her sheer will carried her to the top of the podium because truthfully even she knew that she wasn't the public nor coaching team favourite.

I saw a short reel in Facebook and was feeling sorry for the red head who was crying and the clip seems sorry for the redhead, so I came to YT to watch both performances. Now I don't feel bad for the redhead girl. As an unprofessional opinion, the redhead girl's first 2 songs didn't synchronized with her moves. I think she put too much effort in preparing to make those big moves but it destroyed the performance, it only got better when she synchronized to the fast-paced song. The brunet girl who got the championship, in my opinion deserved her trophy. From the beginning of her performance I was instantly drawn by her facial expressions and her synchrony with her songs. Although not as many as big moves but overall I enjoyed the performance and wasn't distracted bec the moves and the song doesn't match. So I think the redhead still has a long way to go, she's still young so I hope she'll take this as a lesson when she cools her head off. She's capable but needs to see the bigger picture. I wish both of them well.

I'm a Sasha fan too. But Anna was clutch AF during this Olympics. Plus she had the ordeal where a reporter asked her (in a press conference after Russian Nationals) whether she thought she really deserved to be on the Olympic team. She looked like she wanted to slap him across the face 🤣

@@brandondaniels9471 All Anna had to say is I've made the podium at every competition in my senior career that's why I deserve to be on the Olympic team. And she should have been in the team event free skate. How the Russian figure skating federation did that and screwed her or Sasha out of the team gold is beyond me.

@@rsb512 I'm with you! However I think that Sasha (and Anna?) were still partially hurt from injuries. And Kamila was honestly their best bet to win the team title. Still would've liked to have seen Sasha win a team gold medal bc she prob wasn't gonna beat Kamila anyway. I still don't think people grasp how legendary the 3 Russian skaters are bc of the stupid controversies.

Sasha’s program was legendary because she was the first ever female skater to perform that much quads (even if they weren’t perfect), and just for that she deserved to win. But Anna’s programs were so technical and PERFECT, nothing to add. She deserved to win too for achieving this level of perfection. The two deserved to win gold.

@@maouimaisnon2535 stop kidding yourself....Sasha doesnt deserve to win for her clumsy 5 quads. Anna could do that as well, but she didnt, because it's awful presentation wise.

@@minus21334 tell me you know nothing about figure skating without telling me you know nothing about fs.... Sasha was literally 5 points away from the gold medal, she totally could have win too. No, Anna CAN'T jump 5 quads (even clumsy) in one program. Most men can't. What Sasha achieved is an exploit on its own so stop minimizing it. (and in fact, objectively Sasha's technique on quads is far better than Anna's). Sasha literally gave her best performance of her entire career. Sasha deserved to win for her risk taking, and Anna deserved to win for her perfection. They both deserved to win, yes they are different, yes they don't have the same skating, and that's fine, it's a SPORT you don't have to be perfect you just have to give the best you can. They both did the same insane efforts to get there, unfortunately there is only 1 gold medal, and of course Anna deserved it. But YOU are no one to say one olympic athlete or another doesn't deserve a medal. Be humble please.

@@EgW21 only some particular fans of Sasha and Kamila who don’t happy with Anna’s gold and wrote very badly about Anna, but the whole world are satisfied with Anna’s gold because both of Anna’s performances show a real figure skating. Anna and Kamila are complete skaters just Kamila couldn’t stand the pressure and made a lot of mistakes so she missed the podium. Sasha is very strong in technique term but she made a lot of mistakes in both of her performances. Hence, the result is very accurate that Anna is the well-deserved Olympic champion. Just I feel very pity for Anna that some of her own people keep talking and writing bad of her no matter what achievements she has brought to her country. She is the real hero who bring the pride to the country but some Russians try to put her down and raise the other skaters that really shocked me. Have been following Anna’s figure skating path, her fighting spirit and personality really make me admire her. She is a golden girl.
