I've given birth 3 times and all 3 times I've had amazing nurses. The one who means a lot to me was the nurse I had when I was giving birth to my youngest. She stayed past her time to get off just to help me give birth to him. She was also there when the unexpected happened and she comforted me when I needed it the most. I'll never forget her she was amazing

My daughter had to stay one night extra after they discharged me, and the hospital allowed me to stay in an extra room that was used for storage . All the other rooms were full, but I wasn't walking out the doors without my baby, so I was so grateful.

When I had an ectopic pregnancy the L&D nurse that stepped between me and everyone else was absolutely amazing! I don't remember her real name but I will always refer to her as Jasmine and I don't think I will ever forget her or her baby boy (she looked like she was due any day and when the baby wouldn't calm down, she asked me to talk to him, it worked like a charm for both of us)

This is my dream!!! I’m currently a Junior in high school and it would be wonderful if you could do a video on how you got to where you are like the classes you took and what you recommend to get us to this point. Watching you do your job so passionately really pushes me towards this job more because I can see how much you love it and even though it’s stressful it’s truly such a rewarding job. ❤

Currently in nursing school, I had to take some pre reqs and an entrance exam to enter my program since its a public school in NYC and the classes I took where anatomy and physiology 1 and 2, chemistry, English, math , psychology. every school is different so just pick a school that offers nursing and speak to an advisor/or google the school website and search for pre reqs. also, if the school of your choice is competitive you'll want to keep your grades high, some school do not require entrance exams but majority do. Hope this helps!

A year after you made this video, but as a mom to a daughter who went through 7 years dreaming about being a nurse, but not knowing which specialty she might want to at least start out in, this was incredibly informative and well presented!! I have watched hundreds of videos myself as she was working her way through her high school CNA degree program, then her first 2 years at a university mainly completing all her gen ed and nursing pre reqs, then a year off of school being a fulltime CNA after not getting into her first choice nursing program at the nearby university she already attended, even with a 3.9 GPA, but then getting into one of the best nursing schools in the east, and graduating Summa Cum Laud 2 years ago. Finally we decided she should try for a first job in a NICU, after watching a few videos by other NICU nurses, but none were presented so well as your video about how it is to be a L&D nurse, at least on a good day! Most of the nurses we watched that were NICU nurses just talked about what their days were like, as it is hard to show yourself at work in a NICU and respect family privacy, but the way you managed to show as much as possible your birthing rooms and tools used....while not showing any patients was so very much more informative for future student nurses not yet starting their clinical and so not yet exposed to hospital settings...(my daughter started nursing school Aug.2020 during Covid lockdowns, so got very little clinical experience at all before graduating April 2022) Well, she is about to celebrate her 2 year anniversary as a nurse, in the NICU, and will probably stay with NICU as it is completely different than working with any other patient population, she would probably choose L&D if she ever wanted a change. A great informative video schools should show at career exploration seminars!!

Ever since I've started working in assisted living and memory care for 3 years now I have been surrounded by people going to college for nursing/doctor/phycological courses. I've always wanted to do something with children ever since I was very young and decided if I was to be a nurse, I would do labor and delivery!! I came across your videos and finally just a few days ago applied for college!! I can't wait to see where this journey takes me!🥳🥳

My water broke at 23 weeks and my baby has a very rare syndrome called amniotic band syndrome. I lost my babies twin between 6-8 weeks and when the twin died, it ruined my babies sac causing loose bands which have wrapped around her fingers and legs so she’ll be born missing some fingers, her left lower leg, and a 50/50 on her right foot. Thankfully Shriners has already reached out to us and got us on the schedule. As I type this, I’ve been in the hospital for 8 days. Luckily when my water broke, it didn’t completely pop. My baby still has a normal amount of fluid. I loose fluid everyday multiple times a day in small amounts but she keeps making fluid so as we sit, she’s going good. I’ll be in the hospital until I deliver. The doctors want to deliver her at 34 weeks but none of us think she’ll go that far but here’s hoping that my baby and my body work together to get her as far as she’ll go. I’m in one of the best hospitals in WA state so she has a chance of survival if born now at 24 weeks. But I’m scared about the mental disabilities that being born that early could cause so we’re hoping to make it to 28 weeks at least. I have some favorite nurses but there’s some nurses that are unfortunately here just for the money and it makes me feel so uncomfortable when I have to live here for now.

I got curious too. This is what Google saids: "Yes, labor and delivery nurses must lift, push, and pull patients daily, and they need to be able to move quickly to meet their patients' needs. @brittanybowen7710
@brittanybowen7710 Жыл бұрын
@@anamiranda9841 usually it depends on your cervix. So if you go in for an induction and you're completely closed, they're gonna use something called cervidil (idk if that's spelled right) and it goes up next to your cervix and hangs out for 12 hours to soften you up. Then they can put a Foley bulb in once you're open a little and it puts pressure on your cervix like the baby's head would and falls out at 4cm. Then that's when they start pitocin. Some providers will want to break your water then too, some will wait. I was already open and at a 4 so they just went straight to pitocin with me. How Long it takes after pitocin starts is just dependent on your body but they tell you it can take up to 3 days
