My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

Hi Anna, welcome back. Here's some of Angie Elvis Easter egg breakdowns. She put in a lot of Elvis references, really amazing the respect & homage she paid to Elvis. Angie really blew this one away. I love what she did with this story This was filmed in the same place that she did “My funny valentine” at Melrose Gallery and Antiques in West Hollywood CA. There's a picture of (age about 1-2) baby Lisa Marie Presley on a golden couch like Angie's cousin sat on with a white dress. There was one of Lisa also (when she’s about 3) with white dress & she had curls like Angie’s other cousin Athena had (from her uncle Michael's kids). Plus it acted as a double meaning for us watching Angie growing up. Her sister Juilette was the older one in the white dress like Angie was in, when she was 10-12 before she changed at 13 & her, her mom Sara & grandma Mery made clothes for her performances. (Angie made it modern & nostalgic at the same time. She’s emotes the story, for she is a true master story teller) The black jumpsuit & red guitar is for the welcome back tour in 1968. The hair was for Priscilla his wife & Angie sitting on the couch too. Chandeliers, mirrors & furniture was for Graceland, the Piano player Rob Christie wearing red like Elvis piano player & you'll even see that Angie's (Elvis stance) put her leg out & bent like Elvis did. Angelina did a lot of homework & paid a lot of respect & gave us a lot of Easter eggs & there’s still more. As she usually does on her videos. Angelina is just amazing, beyond words & other singers/writers/artists/people. {She's Angelina Jordan Astar} The barefoot Angel with a 1000 voices. Here's also an original she performed live on 7-7-22 at Kongsberg & another Official cover she dropped on 7-23-22. (And a short awesome cover she did from Labrinth) “Million Miles” by Angelina Jordan kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oNV7hMiHx7rMqnk.html Angie wrote this after her grandpa died in 2019 during the filming of AGT-C “I have nothing” by Whitney Houston kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n75gmpxqz7SWZok.html Official cover Looks like they even gave her the rights to her version of the song. Dropped 7-23-22. She’s 16. I love how Angie put in some of her jazzy back phrasing & R&B in it also. “Mount Everest” by Labrinth covered by Angelina live in concert at Kongsberg 7-7-22 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/er-Gq9GKlZymh6s.html. Go listen to the original short song & you'll be amazed what she did with this song.

Glad to see you’re back reviewing Angelina. This is signature Angelina: taking a classic, turning it upside down, slowing the tempo, making you understand every word of the lyrics-with a mesmerizing version that respects Elvis in so many ways, but is all Angelina. I don’t know what criteria people might use to say someone is the best singer they’ve ever heard, but I listen to Angelina everyday. I’ve never felt that way about any other singer in my 70+ years. Not even close.

Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. ♥👣

Angelina's hair style, her leather suit, the guitar and even Rob Christie's red suit were a tribute to Elvis Presley. Priscilla Presley wore her hair up like that in the 60s, Elvis wore a leather suit and played either that same, or similar, guitar in his " '68 Comeback Special", and the red clothing worn by Rob Christie, Studio Director of Republic Records and 2-time Grammy Winner pianist is similar to the red clothing that the other musicians wore when they performed with Elvis during that same event. Thank you for your in depth reaction!

Angelina's performance is amazing and the video is visually stunning. I love how the singer is portrayed at 5 different stages in her life -- an infant, a toddler, a tween, an impatient teen and an adult reminiscing about her life. It's a beautiful story even if the words are a bit sad. All the homages to Elvis and Priscilla are a very nice touch. One of the best music vids I've ever seen.

Finally the melody fits the lyrics ❤️ What a storyteller Angelina is, and since this is an Elvis cover, the hairdo is probably a tribute to Priscilla Presley, and not Amy in this performance 👍❤️ Love the Black leather and the guitar as a tribute to the King himself ❤️ And even the red suit on the piano player is a tribute aswell 👍 When that is said, this is so, so beautiful and I got goosebumps listening ❤️ Have a great evening, Anna 👍❤️

Thank you. Another great commentary from you on the barefoot princess! Angelina's starting phrase was as powerful as it was unexpected. And throughout, her attention to detail both vocally and visually as well is something of a trademark for her. The outfit and guitar give a nod to Elvis' 1968 comeback tour where he introduced this song. The progression of girls (first her two cousins, then her sister) hasn't been explained as far as I know. Also, the unfurling of the furniture at the beginning is unknown symbolism. BTW, Angelina performed 3 summer Concerts in Norway in July. Too bad you couldn't bop over there and see her.

Great reaction and analysis! I love this version as well as the version by Elvis. She really knows how to find the heart of a song and uses her own arrangement to put the focus on the words and what is being said. She's a great storyteller! On a side note, please ignore the person in your Comments Section calling himself Jim Jack. He is a troll that goes from one Angelina reactor to another, leaving negative comments, criticisms, lies, and says she is a mediocre singer and other singers are better than her. We fans, The Angels, know about this person and are not sure why he has so much hate for her. My guess is that his favorite artist is not receiving the same type of attention Angelina is. Thank you for your continuing support of Angelina and we look forward with more reactions of her!

@ClandOp
@ClandOp Жыл бұрын
@@103mrg Yes, the renditions you mention are different from the originals because AJ slows the tempo and jazzes those songs up. (Anna, if you're reading this, you really need to check out AJ's cover of Wicked Game -- maybe compare it to Diana A's cover.) But in terms of the arrangement, here AJ BEGINS with the bridge ("Oh, let our love survive") before she starts the first verse -- really different, like Bohemian (where she begins and ends with the ballad). So my point is that she essentially re-configures Suspicious Minds using major elements from the original, and reimagines it in the ARRANGEMENT as well as the PRESENTATION.

In the Studio and on the stage, Angelina has been called "The Boss" for a decade or more. She has a vision and directs everything to that goal. I'm pretty sure a 16 year old Angelina said "It's my video, and I have decided my cousins and my sister will be in it!" No,... didn't really have anything to do with the song.

Just like she did with Queen’s song, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, Angelina created a completely new and different arrangement. Song writer, Mark James wrote “Suspicious Minds” and after not having personal success with it he allowed Elvis to perform it. After hearing Elvis’ uptempo and pop style arrangement, Mark was not a fan of it because he felt Elvis’ version didn’t do justice to his lyrics. I am sure that Angelina’s sensitivity to the lyrics and her sublime vocal arrangement, in conjunction with pianist, Rob Christie’s music arrangement. Mark James would have been quite pleased to her their performance of his song.

Anna, I enjoyed your reaction and analysis to this performance by Angelina Jordan. Since becoming a Angelina angel, I have done my best to introduce Angelina to new people. On KZfaq, I began by enticing reaction channels to feature Angelina with good success and thank each reaction channel as they do introduce new people to the artist they feature. About a year ago, Angelina's team told us angels they believed reactions were hurting Angelina's analytics. There is some logic that if angels are watching reaction videos then they have less time to watch the original video. We enjoy reaction videos and don't want to hurt those channels so the solution was to suggest reactors encourage viewers to watch, like, share and comment on the original video. Thankfully hundreds of reaction channels have implemented our suggestions and we encourage they do so for each artist they feature.

Elvis Presley and his producer Felton Jarvis cleverly covered this *Mark James song from 1968 in 1969* , Elvis' last #1 hit in the US and #7 of his most successful songs. Felton Jarvis took the original arrangement completely and pushed the song with more speed and additional instruments (wind instruments, violin etc.) and a spectacular backing choir (in the studio version) and of course with Elvis Presley's voice. Pianist Rob Christie changed the musical arrangement and Angelina the vocal arrangement, but she didn't change the lyrics. Angelina changes the lyric structure, starting with the bridge and giving the song a different meaning. Once again many people don't hear and understand the song until when Angelina tells the story. 💯 *AJ* 💯

From the first time I listened to Angelina continuing to this moment, what grabbed my attention was the emotional reaction I was having. It hasn't ended. Perhaps and hopefully it never will end. Her opening phrase of Suspicous Minds was loving anguish to my emotional sensors. I believe that however she acquired such perception and ability to translate and communicate emotion to sound, that ability controls the sound that emits from her. It comes straight from her heart and soul through her vocal cords.

What a glorious production, praise to everyone involved, so perfect for Angelina Jordan she rules the universe with her talent. Again, the great talent of Rob Christie playing the piano. The Cinemaphotography, a total MASTERPIECE, Excellent ART Cole McCarthy! Great touch, the cousins and sister get a cameo. Mery, you should be so proud, AJ's grandma produced this. Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and AJ's voice has been unique since she was 7 years old and now at 16, she controls us as an audience, leaving us hang on every word and phrase. Thank you for returning to Angelina. Your reactions to her performnances are always worth watchng. I am certain you know that the song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

She has a wonderful voice and really gave this her own twist. That’s admirable. However, I don’t think anyone can beat Elvis on this one, so I see it as a very nice and well done tribute to this classic. Your insights into her techniques were once again very interesting. You always manage to point out nuances in voices and performances that I would have otherwise missed. That’s very much appreciated! 💜

Hey Anna, great to see you back in circulation! Angelina is coming along very well, her voice is maturing very nicely! This is one of my favourites of her recent works although I didn’t like EP very much; her interpretation to me is much more sympathetic with the theme!

Rob Christie Playing Piano: That dude playing the piano is Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Barbara Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) Angelina stated that she would rather perform than take a breath, and she has never been forced to perform, it has been her decision.

Genius: Exceptional intellectual or creative power, the greatest musical genius of our time is Angelina Jordan. Can one be hypnotized by sound? Shamans use rhythmic drumming and chanting to achieve control over a mind. Angelina's is unique in that she has the ability to create audios that trigger your brains "frequency following response". She has the ability to create a euphoric addiction to her total being similar to drugs, but without the side effects, she is in fact, like nothing I have ever experienced in the past, or more than likely to in the future.

Iso kiitos reaktiosta! Glad to see you back again. You said, "late to the party." She gave an excellent start to the concerts in Norway, where she once chose a more current song in contrast to all the classics she is known for. Why not join the party with that named Mount Everest? You find it here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ga5zdMp23bDQc4U.html If you want to prepare and listen to the original, it's here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/od2ijKeFrbHcmXk.html I would appreciate a more 'angelina-fied' lyric and maybe a more extended interaction with the guitarist. It reminds me a little of the Swedish singer Alice Bab's glory days.

I always love your perspective on anything you are seeing. You see so much and share it all n which is fabulous. it's great to hear an opinion so based on knowledge of the voice. About the kids .. I personally don't think they're younger versions of her .. I believe they're supposed to represent Lisa Marie Presley growing up .. since she's saying "we're caught in a trap .. i can't get out .. because i love you to much baby." Angelina is such a good storyteller that she would never be telling a story about a relationship that is falling apart because of suspicion and suddenly add a little scene about her growing up in Norway. 🙃 I have been surprised how many people say they think it's her growing up. But the story is still about Priscilla and Elvis and she is pointing to the effect that their child has on the thoughts she perhaps sometimes has to just walk away ... which she actually did a few years later when Lisa Marie was older. (The younger two in the video are Angelina's cousins and the third is her younger sister, Juliette.) Thank you for your reaction. She did indeed make it her own. In a way it feels to me that Elvis told the perspective of the male and she now told the perspective of the same story more from the perspective of the woman. Pensive, pained, hopeful, hopeless - etc. I love it and your reaction. Thanks again.

To start, you are a super well-informed and well-spoken reactor. Probably one of the best! Secondly, in the way of suggesting something I haven't seen in your current catalog, I think, is the artist LP (Laura Pergolizzi). She has been around for a while as a songwriter for some serious pop stars as well as a singer since the early 2000s. would love to see your take on this incredibly unique vocalist. Her song "Lost on You" (Live session) is what I would suggest as an Introductory track and my personal favorite "when Were High" would be another. Keep up the great work!

Yes, Anna, the two little cousins and her sister represent both her physical and artistic growth, especially with the next image being Angelina now at 16 years old. I love how Angelina has pared back the party vibe from this song, started with the bridge, and lays open the story meaning and truth. I love your detailed comments about how she achieves this powerful performance of Suspicious Minds. Mistrust and lying. The two relationship killers. I like her diction, too. I can always hear all of the words. Your English is wonderful, and I love listening to Finnish. I can even understand a bit of what you mean with your signs while speaking Finnish. Thank you for your time and effort for this reaction. 💜
