This cover is a perfect marriage of Scot Bradlee's musical mind and Hailey's vocals. How can it be so different, yet I totally got same vibes than I get from listening to the original song by Radiohead?

Anna, thanks for pointing out the arrangement, some do some do not, but Scott Bradlee deserves all sorts of admiration and compliments on his incredible ability to hear the vintage/jazz in all the tracks they remix and provide these incredible arrangements for each. The band delivers every time too, providing a true flashback of music evolution. I don't think I could ever say enough about how unbelievably talented Hailey is, so I'll just leave it at that, LOL! Great reaction!

anna... nice reaction and excellent breakdown... this maybe one of the best covers ever done, bar none. haley reinhart especially with postmodern jukebox is incredible. . all the other haley/pmj ones are great also: "all about the bass", "habits", "black hole sun", "mad world", "seven nations army", "oops i did it again", "lovefool" and the very recent "don't speak". i think what is so phenomenal about haley is not just her amazing silk to sandpaper voice but also her character and soul that she puts into the performances. even when she uses very little acrobats, her pure raw soft voice is amazing like in the intro of "creep". you see this even more in her solo platinum cover of "can't help falling in love" for the extra gum commercial which is truly stunning and frequently described as what love sounds like. you can find it here: (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ldt-o6iT2Z3bj6M.html)

This was wonderful, Anna. Beautiful reaction to a beautiful song. Hailey can really sing. I actually grew up listening to all the jazz greats of the Big Band Era. When I started playing drums, Gene Krupa was my idol. I cant tell you how many times I listened to the live recording of Benny Goodman's Sing Sing Sing! Personally, I like Haley's vocal intensity with all those growls, cries, bends, and other "creepy" techniques because she takes it up a notch at the end, as she does so well and the suddenly drops us down right where we started. I’ve listened to this performance least 100 times and have a fresh emotional response each time. Haley has a way of getting into the the emotions of her listeners, not just pulling for them, but somehow getting inside the mindbody and comingling her soul stuff with ours. This can be unnerving and confusing, otherworldly, but if you just go with it the emotional musical hoodoo is joyfully transcendent and unforgettable. Such is her power on stage.I’ve seen so many reactions to this performance that leave the listener sometimes in tears, so emotionally moved that they can hardly articulate a coherent thought. You impressed me by your ability to maintain calm and focused thinking as you responded emotionally. Your analysis was astute and documents Haley’s impressive vocal and performance abilities. I consider this cover iconic, it stands on its own under Haley’s strewardship. I experience Radiohead’s performance as existing in a separate musical world where I can go and fully enjoy a listen to their original version. But the performances defy comparison, so that’s where I settle the question for myself. Thank you for pointing out the arranging and the performance skills of the band. Scott Bradlee is the musical force that drives PMJ. All featured artists and band members are sharp performers, no less so Scott himself. The result is the high level of arranging and production that bring to us this collection of rare music. No small part of the success of this piece is the quality of the band playing so well this excellent arrangement that showcases Haley at her best. I’d like to hear your thoughts on her performance of I Can’t Help Falling In Love (With You). Thanks for this thoughtful review.

Haley's voice is like silk drawn across the skin, followed immediately by a full-force punch in the mouth. She really draws on her effects, and she uses them liberally. She's sultry and sexy one moment, and firey attitude the next. So. Damn. Good. I love both versions of the song. I won't even stand them next to one anther, nor compare them, for each suits a different mood through the arrangement and interpretation. Super impressive to have a cover that stands on its own. This was the first time I'd heard this cover by PMJ and I was trying to figure out why it sounded vaguely unsettling underneath all the more conventional smoky/sensual sound... and then when you pointed out how she was singing the consonants in strange way it all made much more sense, haha If you are ever looking for more extreme distortion to analyze, I'd want to recommend the band Slaughter to Prevail and their song Demolisher that illustrates a wide range of false chord manipulation. They also have a newer song, Baba Yaga, that utilizes a wider range of base techniques too. Plus the videos for both are so over the top that it's impossible not to have a good time watching them, haha

As a boy who grew up in a working class Chicago suburb controlled by the mafia, I am so happy for Haley. Haley is Chicago blues at heart. The video of her dad and her performing at Chicago-based Chess records confirms her roots. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pdOkpqt22JjLYKs.html From the the Naperville (a Chicago suburb) RibFest shown here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pbahoNuDy8WtnJs.html to seeing Haley on you channel - it is with great satisfaction that her talent is being appreciated. Obviously, Post Modern Jukebox is a great venue to showcase her talent. Thank you Anna for your reaction video.

I love this version of Creep. This song is what made me start watching reaction videos like yours. I generally only watch reaction to this one or Haley's new one with PMJ Don't Speak. PMJ is generally really good and creative. Allison Young is another one that joined PMJ is a few videos that I love like Mr. Blue Sky.

I discovered you through your reaction to Angelina Jordan, and followed you over to Dimash. I have liked their music for quite a while now 😊 I like your analysis a lot. You pick up a lot of interesting details on a more complete level than most, both on vocal and on posture. I like that a lot 😊 I would love you to react to Pentatonix 😊 They are an acapella group of 5 who do amazing harmonies. I’d recommend that you start with either Hallelujah or Sound of silence. 😊 I just want to point out that Hallelujah has the original group setup, while in Sound of silence their bass singer has left the group for personal reasons, and been replaced with another one, which is the guy with the white jacket to the very left in the lineup. And in case you wonder… they don’t do much studio work on their songs, because their philosophy is that they should be able to do the same performance in concert.

@@annavaskelainen There are many live performances on KZfaq, but most of them are fan-cam videos, and with them you lose the sound quality. I have found a few for you. Each of them have a little drawback, so you have to kind of “pick you poison” among them 😊 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gtOfqqmez86peac.html Sound of silence. This have real drums added at the end, which take away from the amazing beatboxer they have (Kevin). Apart from that the sound is good. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pdOIfpBhttmoYI0.html Hallelujah. This is fan-cam. So the sound quality is not the best, but it is still ok. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/htR-a5h0rqy6dok.html Aha. This is a live performance at A Capella Academy in 2017. It is very informal, and might not be the one you do a reaction to. You might find it fun to watch after 😊 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fNiqgrJ-r5nNZqs.html TV show Christmas. This is nice, and they perform 3 songs (2nd start 5:22, 3rd start 8:23). But they are Christmas songs, a bit fast, and don’t really show off the amazing harmonies that they are known for. They are still really good, and show what they can do live. In the first two songs Kevin is standing on a board in order able to get more effect from the percussion with his foot. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbiDnJmgttbUpIU.html TV Christmas. Beautiful song. No beatboxing, ordinary a capella. But all of these show that they are able to do live what they do in their music videos. 😊 Being classically trained, I think you might like their Dance of the sugar plum fairy 😊 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oNpjoqSqsMWtd2w.html This is a music video. They are known for the composition of their videos too 😊

I don't believe there is anyone, including the original artist, who doesn't think that this is exactly what this song is supposed to be. Anyone, regardless how homely or comely, who ever became helplessly infatuated with another person has had these feelings of inadequacy. While the writer has brilliantly described it, the composer (Scott Bradly) has detailed it with striking precision and Haley, with her richness of talent and beauty, has displayed just how powerful that emotion truly is. That someone can give us this or any other emotion without having to endure the experience, is a gift to anyone who will have it.

Haley is the most impressive singer working today IMO. There's nothing she can't do, and she is like a cartoon character...like Bettey Boop and Jessica Rabbit in one. I would love to see what you think of her (also with PMJ) cover of Tove Lo's "Habits". It's a such a dark and pitiful song, and she makes is fun and 30's jazzy. It's a total transformation, and it's quintessential Haley Rinehart

This version of Creep spent 58 straight weeks on the Billboard Jazz Digital Chart. It is by far the most successful song ever performed by PMJ and Haley is by far the best of the best vocalist to have ever performed with PMJ. Two other covers that Haley did with PMJ, "Seven Nation Army" and "Oops, I Did It Again", are almost as good as "Creep" and should definitely be reacted to by you for your subscribers enjoyment. As each cover is uniquely different vocally and I might add mind blowing. As really, all of Haley's covers she did with PMJ are very excellent. Her own music written and performed by Haley, is quite eclectic and is also spectacular as well.

I enjoyed your insightful observations, Anna! I never heard this song before I heard PMJ's and Haley's version. After listening to this several times, I decided to listen to Radiohead's original. I couldn't believe how the original is TOTALLY different from PMJ's version! I actually had a difficult time listening to the original all the way to the end! And that's okay - it's simply not my style of music. My introduction to PMJ was last year when I stumbled across "All About That Bass - PMJ European Tour Version" with Haley Reinhart, Morgan James, Ariana Savalas and Casey Abrams. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l7KejZR_ttOWpZ8.html
