2020 has definitely changed Anne-Marie's life, like many of us. She decided to go to therapy during the lockdown to deal with her anxiety. Anne-Marie has not only discovered the benefits of going to therapy or how to deal with her feelings and concerns, she has also found a part of herself that she didn't know about. That’s what’s come out in her music.
In this chat, Fearne and Anne-Marie talk about starting therapy, knowing your own worth, anxiety and creativity as Anne-Marie reveals a new project on the horizon. The Pandemic has changed lives around... What did you think of this week's episode? Is there anything that resonated with you?
Anne-Marie is a singer and songwriter from England. She appeared in two West End productions as a child - Les Misérables and Whistle Down the Wind - and has featured on several hit singles till date, including Clean Bandit's ''Rockabye'', ''Friends'', ''Ciao Adios'' and ''Alarm''. Anne-Marie has been practising Karate since the age of nine and has tried her luck in professional karate championships at least three times.
Anne-Marie’s second studio album, Therapy, is out on 23rd July, and her first book, You Deserve Better, is available from 30th September.

The older i get the more I'm enjoying honesty from people more. I like the fact that this podcast is so open, honest and talks about mental health. I'm HUGE on mental health since i myself suffer from anxiety and depression and I've experienced my first ever panic attack during the pandemic. So after that happened, i was OBSESSED with watching any videos that would relate to my current situation. I would watch hours and HOURS of contents because it made me feel safe knowing that others go through the same thing as i do as well. This pandemic really took a toll on me and at first i didn't think that it would because i don't go out that much anyway but i believe just hearing about the chaos in the world every second of everyday really raised my anxiety to a high level which then triggered a whole lot of issues which to this day I'm still experiencing.

Thank you Fearne and Anne-Marie. First off, I love both of you and think you both deserve happiness. You’re both beautiful people inside and out. Anne-Marie I love your music, your voice and your heartfelt lyrics. Fearne, I’ve always enjoyed your sense of humour, your wit and your music knowledge, (asking all the right questions when interviewing the stars). I too suffer with self doubt, self hatred and become self absorbed. This has been hard for my better half and my children to deal with! I’ve had some counselling in the past and it helped a bit but I’m still working on myself. The pandemic forced us to stop and with less distractions in our lives we were forced to take a look in the mirror at ourselves! I didn’t like what I saw as not much had changed from a few years before! I feel stuck in a rut with so many things and I blame work, my health, not having enough money etc. etc. for my unhappiness! Ultimately, that will never lead to improvement because you need to take charge and work on what does make you happy. It’s so hard, (and I’m still not even halfway there) but I’m trying. I really loved listening to you talk about your experiences and I hope you continue feeling strong enough and brave enough to continue with your amazing work. Whatever doubts you have about yourselves, there are so many who love what you do. Take care of yourselves and concentrate on what makes you happy. ❤️❤️

Loved your conversation - awesome. Were all trying to fit into a mould of what society finds acceptable! How we should look act and be and feel..which is an impossible feat when we can only be ourselves and are each individual! No one is the same! How are we all meant to be the same..At 60years old I've finally allowed and understood that the only version I can be of me is myself..our bodies change from babies to children- teens - adult - old...not one person can escape this ..and despite these changes we are still ourselves I wish I could hand you all a wisdom of 100% acceptance of who we are. I'm sure we would all be happier. Great podcast.

I think celebrity culture has alot to answer for...I'm not sure when it all started to the point its got and now with social media added to the mix..I think it was in the early nineties though that this celebrity culture thing really took off because when I grew up in the 70/80's it was not such a thing, becoming a nurse, teacher, doctor and other professional training or trades was still something to aspire towards. Now it seems material success or just to be famous even without much talent has become much more of a thing.Where is the pride is actually doing a job well and taking self esteem from that.I think many might realise that appearing to have it all, especially without hard work or application will leave you on the empty side no matter, there has to be some deeper motivation and purpose for true happiness. Celebrity culture has tried to sell us the lie that having loads of nice things and going to parties and being popular is the most important thing in life but look how many people it has made deeply miserable..look how many have been lost to this lifestyle,so sad. So much of it I think has become about making money unfortunately and money has become the biggest motivator for many.I am not advocating poverty either because thats no fun but material success and making money has become too equated with being successful and happiness generally...having said that,it definitely helps, lets face it. Alot of people do not want "normality"now because they do not feel valued and seen in the jobs they do,they feel taken for granted and underpaid and are often lets face it not that well off after haven given all of themselves after a full working week..no wonder many see normality"as a poor option. We have to start valuing each other as human beings, simply recognising one anothers humanity, not the car we drive or house we live in or how much is in our bank account but the content of our soul.

I had face Depression and Anxiety when my Country was in a lockdown since Last year in 2020. When they extended the lockdown, it makes me feel being trapped and being alone. but you know, I am feeling much better. IN my country, they are doing mask mandates, and places starting to do proof of vaccine. Unites States is pretty crazy.
