Artists signed to Universal Music’s renowned classical labels Deutsche Grammophon and Decca Classics were honoured in no fewer than 10 out of 25 categories at the recent OPUS KLASSIK 2020 awards. In this most challenging of years, the organisers succeeded in staging a ceremony live at the Konzerthaus Berlin, with the necessary safety measures in place.

I've followed Anne-Sophie since she was a teenager and she never disappoints. AND I believe her regard for John Williams is very real. I believe she has commissioned a concerto by him and we can only hope that it materializes.

Indeed, and Maestro Williams has since written the violin concerto for Ms. Mutter. Here’s hoping it will have a premiere in 2021 and will be released by Deutsche Grammophon.

When looking at (or I should say “listening to”) the works of John Williams, don’t forget the films he scored for director Mark Rydell - The Reivers, The Cowboys, Cinderella Liberty, and The River.

Did John Williams ever imagine this score could be rendered with such aching beauty, which captures some essence of transience as in Stevens' line, "Death is the mother of beauty"? Oh the cry in the wilderness of this violin, heard way beyond the stars!
