It's so helpful to be informed of how Mars retrograde infuluences us on every level! Especially because with the shadow it may occupy 6 months of our life. Mars anger and frustration is sometimes difficult and challenging to channel and I like using this wisdom as a guide to know how to interact with life. My life is one colossal retrograde lately, Annie. One big "off day." This past Mercury retrograde was a nightmare. Usually its just a barrage of "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage, Google Chrome has encountered a problem, and Mozilla Firefox just straight up doesn't like you." But this one went deeper. Stuff from a million years ago that I never wanted to hear about again came rising out of the grave like Night of the Living Dead. I'm really curious what this Mars Rx might dredge up. Hopefully it'll help me go back and bury some old business once and for all. Your point about time management really makes sense. I started some new healthy habits at the beginning of the year that I've been totally slacking off on and need to remember how much I love. No more "It's snowing, I can't go for a run." A little snow never killed anyone. No more "This might not work for someone else's schedule, I can't make this appointment today." They'll just have to work around me. There are definitely some people on edge and pissed off around me. I am trying to get out as much as I can to get my business done to avoid a blow-up. Funny you mentioned the Bach flower remedy. I've been thinking about buying some incense to burn to get rid of some negative energy around me. So happens someone did just buy me a punching bag. I anticipate having to beat the living you-know-what out of it quite a bit in the near future.

To me mars retrograde or any retrogrades act like a Saturn transit in it opposite sign.Wihice to me mean focus and concentrate resources and strength.Be in a sowing mold rather than a harvest mold

It officially starts April 17 but the energy is getting strong already. If you are feeling the slown down and loss of momentum, maybe holding off might be better.

Hi Annie- I've been one of your subscribers since your second year on KZfaq and I've learned so much from you and really appreciate all the extras you do to keep us accurately informed. I have a Gemini Mars retrograde in my first house at 23°37' on my natal chart. I noticed that the upcoming mars retrograde is almost exactly this position. I also have an Aries moon Gemini rising and Sagittarius sun. Would this mars retrograde affect me or anyone else with similar placements differently? Should I still apply what you have laid out in this video?

Hi, Fire :) Thank you for being with me for so long! Someone that has placements that tie in to the exact math of a transit will definitely feel more notable personal affects. It is true that sometimes people with Mars retro at birth have a different experience of the mars retro transit but in general, the recommendations are the same. What seems to be different most often, is that the guidelines that we are to follow in the retro transit, are sometimes more natural for the native to implement, being used to that energy all the time. I do sometimes see ambitions raise and things flow more for the native during the transit so follow your personal flow, but the guidelines (like not starting a fight/lawsuit/etc., not launching something intended to be very long term, etc, I think would still be just as valid.

Hi, Elise. I am sorry you have been struggling. I love the modality EMDR for helping to clear out trauma that could be a part of your depression. You can likely find a psychologist that does this modality on your insurance plan and just pay your copay. Most practitioners have a sliding scale if you have to pay cash. how about doing acupuncture during Mars retrograde? I started this Monday on 14th of September because of my chronic pain in neck, shoulders. Is that okay it's with needles? My natal Mars is in 12th house in Taurus but 12th house starts in Aries. My natal Mars is very weak aspected.

This is a great question. For someone who is helped by acupuncture, going months without it during this whole transit doesn't make much sense. I would say to stick with practitioners you know and trust and follow your intuition to make sure before each appointment you are meant to be there that day. If one of the needles feels weird, speak up and don't let it stay like that, have them adjust it. I think keeping all that in mind, continuing your treatments would be well-indicated even through the transit.

4 years later and this is still very helpful, thank you Annie! Question about this, I got married a couple of years ago (but long term relationship), and I changed my name on the marriage certificate but didn't change it anywhere else. Mars is in my 8th house now and I would like to make the change. Do you think it's a good time to do so?

Hi, Jem. Now is a good time to research the process of changing your name on other docs but I would wait until the end of November, December, and first two weeks of January before actually doing it (unless you are otherwise intuitively guided).

Dearest Annie, in your blog you write in your Mars retrograde article: "... Mars also co-rules Scorpio, which rules deep investigation, so anything involving research, studying, resolving mysteries or enigmas, studying esoteric or psychological topics will be greatly supported..." But during Mars retrograde nothing new should be initiated...Is a course of study a wise idea to start for that matter...or anything that furthers your skills which could be great since the business generally is slow during the retrograde and you might have more time on your arms. I am puzzled a bit...Although it seems as a logical step if for example you are laid off and/or look to advance in work/spirituality...What are your thoughts on that? Thanks.

Hi :). General study is always well indicated with retrogrades. Committing to an official course of study may not be, depending on lots of other factors. If the course of study is no more than 2 years, it could match the Mars retro cycle. In some cases the study commitment will be followed through with, in other cases, the course of study may lose steam. If it is a course of study that is very short term, like 6 months or so, it may have enough oomph to follow through. If the course is expensive and requires a long commitment, it may behoove one to wait until it is direct to decide. I have two short term course offerings I am waiting until July to open enrollment for. I think the energy will be more clear and strong then. There are so kany factors to take into consideration with deciding about action during Mars retro but in general, unless synchronicity is screaming to say yes, or unless the stakes of the commitment are low, I would likely hold off.

Hi, I signed a contract for purchasing a house, that was done when all were clear, no retrogrades etc. The house is still been built, and it will probably be completed during Mars Retrograde. The Closing will be likely during Mars Retrograde. What do you think about closing on a house during Mars Retrograde? Will it be best for me to delay the closing after Mars Retrograde?

Hey, Ruyi ~ If you are sure about the house, location, etc. and its primary intention is as a home, not a business venture, then closing during Mars retro might be just fine. Where I see it likely to have an effect is the workers who are supposed to be finishing it may not follow through as expected and it may take longer than planned. If you are fine with that or have a backup plan in this instance, then that wouldn't be so bad. There could be other factors that work against the intended completion, but again here, the purchase itself could be fine in the retro. If your finances are set and they won't be an issue then that is a good check to support the venture during this time. Blessings on your new chapter!!

you are so welcome :) do also remember that there is also another mercury retrograde and venus retrograde ahead. of the 3 transits, I like mars retro for closing than either of the other two. mercury is retrograde from 7/25 - 8/18 (with shadow periods before and after) and venus is retro10/5-11/16 with (shadow periods before and after). I most like to avoid mercury retro for closings if the purchase is intended to be long term and even if it isn't it can make contracts more challenging to catch everything important and other effects. venus rules money so I try to avoid new purchases with that one if possible. but ultimately just trust the flow. I am sure there is a Divine Plan at work :)

I have a Aries sun sign and rising sign in the month of April I will be getting some cosmetic procedures done that I have wanted for a long time. I finally have the funds as well as the time to get them done. I was extremely excited but am now worried since Mars Is going to be retrograde. This is the only time I will be able to do this. I would really appreciate any advice you could give to me:) thank you and have a blessed day

I would say more discernment is required with sexual connections at this time whether you or someone else initiates. The odds are increased of possible partners not being forthcoming with relevant information. For some, Mars retro slows sexual drive down or invites situations that end in frustration. In some ways, it could favor previous partners over new ones. Hope that helps.

Can I sign the contract for purchasing a house ?

Contracts aren't governed by Mars, nor are houses so in general this is a clear time for home purchases. The one thing to watch is if it is intended as more of an investment than a home space then the retro energy could have effects there, specifically drive to complete a project. So for instance if it is intended to be a 'flip' or a renovation and then sell or rent, momentum may slow from the transit.
