I feel like it's something left over from a point in development when she was still wearing a skirt instead of a skort. They probably took notice of how much criticism the original got for it and decided to leave it out but the animation was already programmed in there and it was more effort than it was worth to remove it.

Truth is, the original was already one of the best RE games back then. Along with all the experience of remaking, capcom would have been closed if they failed RE4R.

@@mikedeng1449 They still have the success of monster hunter to fall back on along with DMC and a slight resurgence of megaman. their current failures have been in the fighting game department with street fighter 5 and marvel vs capcom infinite and dead rising 4 and the resident evil 3 remake. odds were had the 4 remake failed as much as the third entry did, they'd cancel all plans on further remakes and shift their focus on resident evil 9 and the newer entries to come and if that fails, they'd put the series on an indefinite hiatus. this isn't the first time it's happened with capcom, both megaman and resident evil have been put on hiatus, 2 megaman games got cancelled due to lack of sales in prior entries and lack of interest in games they expected the fans to spread word about instead of advertise themselves. As for resident evil, both mishandling of the fan favorites and the complete bashing of how resident evil 6 completely abandoned it's roots lead to the game eventually being put on the sidelines until the resurgence of survivor horror and it's limited resources in resident evil 7.
