This is my 3rd update on the UK Antennas End Fed Half Wave Antenna!
I was getting some RFI issues so needed to re-think.

Update... I was on 80m for a good 2 hours last night with no issues 👍

Hi Matt, I've just purchased the 10 - 80 multiband halfwave (Feb 23). It's just been delivered to my work so not got my hands on it yet. I don't have the room at my home for a setup but my first use will be /P so I hope to put the transformer up on a metal pole strapped to a fence post and string the wire to a fibreglass pole at it's end, all this in the corner of a field at Flamborough Head. I'll try and update this post as and when I have some results and when the weather improves.

Nice video, I’ve only just heard of Uk Antennas from another channel and have been checking them out.. Going to order their 30m EFHW. They seem like a quality piece of gear

Interesting. I bought the same base 10-80 unit from UK Antennas and had intended to try firstly the 80m wire then extend it for 160m. Glad to see you got a result. If I have no luck I've got a couple of trees that might just be far enough apart, but not for a full length dipole or doublet, so I'll still be jiggering about.

Hi matt,you'll lose most of your noise if you mount the transformer 5-6ft above the ground and better still if you bury the coax too in a waterproof conduit 👍👍keep the videos coming 😉

Appreciate the feedback Andy! Yes it seems a lot better on 80m now, just been chatting for a good hour without issue, I will move the transformer and see what changes ;) when the XYL calms down lol

Interesting observations. A quick way of getting on 160m is to take the transformer out, connect the antenna wire to the pin of the pl259 attach a few radials to the shield and you e got1/4 wave on top band. Mine also tunes on 160 but it doesn't work very well at all😂

Thanks a lot Dave! I may try that! I've had a few local contacts on 160m but nothing much. It's a bonus band so happy days 👍🤣 I was on 80m for quite some time and got no RFI issues that I'm aware off 👍👍 thanks for watching mate 👍

On top band as a quarter wave you need a really good earth and a counter poise to limit RFI, also a good choke on the the coax near the transformer will help limit all band rfi. G4PEY

Thanks a lot Ralph! Very good info. You maybe interested in the other videos on the antenna. 1 video I tested the ham goodies RF choke with an MFJ CMC meter so was a great experiment 👍 thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 👍👍

@@m6ceb I also have the dx commander up and think it is the best thing since sliced bread .working on all bands as callum promotes and is still standing after all the winds ...but also have an eflw up only very low and when switching between the 2 antenna have found the enfed to be just about zero for noise level compared to the dxc which has also a very good noise acceptance..but I am looking to put the endfed up now a lot higher with an unun in to get me 80mtrs too..so enjoyed your pursuit of finding the best we can in smaller gardens..73 take care John m0asn. 🤞🤞😉👍

@@johnmarron1944 I had poor results here with the commander antenna very high noise. UK antennas EFHW works a lot better for me. I still get noise but more acceptable. The DX commander also took up my entire garden so the XYL wasn't happy 😂 you can see my commander review on my channel. Thanks for watching mate. Matt.

Can you mount the box closer to the radio rather than a long piece of coax

Hi Matt, I for one would like to know, did moving the antenna into its new configuration solve the RFI issues for you. Good on you for getting your own house in order first, nothing worse than that knock on the door from your immediate neighbours, I'm sure a few of us on here have had at least one knock in the past :-)

Thanks very much! I will test out tonight and see how it goes. It's hard to tell needs a good test to see if I still get issues. It's only ever effected 80m so I'm guessing it's the loading coil that's the culprit being so close to the house. I will test over a few days and leave a pinned comment on here. Hello Matt. I just ordered this 80-10m shortened version mate but i live at a very windy location in Scotland. Do you think its possible i would get away with mounting the transformer inside in my loft and running the main element (around 6ft of it from the transformer to outer wall) through a drilled hole in the wall and then outside onto a tree around 20m down the back garden. I live in a small flat so im struggling for space. The vertical idea with tue spiderbeam you used is impossible for me. I really need it to be stealthy. great video cheers

If you have a 1/2 wave on 80m could it be working as a 1/4 wave close to the 160m? Perhaps that's why it's tuneable.

Helpful thanks. I'm looking at ordering one, which spot frequency on 80m did you go for. I'm studying for my foundation at the moment, so don't know where to go with that one, any advice appreciated.
