I think the big issue with the Saw Saga is that they unalived Kramer on the third one, but then realized (too late) that HE was the soul of it, not the gore. People did not see the films only for the games but also because he was an interesting character. The abundance of Kramer's flashbacks from 4 to 7 and Jigsaw (and now an entire movie of him with Saw X) is the proof they still need him to hold the story despite the character is already cannonically dead.

A lot of people have different thoughts on what John meant by "an honest mistake". Some say it refers to Logan's honest mistake on mislabeling the X-Rays, and some say it refers to John's mistake of incorrectly measuring the dose he gives Logan, which causes him to not come to on time.

While I'm not a fan of a "new" apprentice we've never been introduced to, and an entirely new cast, I think it's a great addition. I love the whodunit aspect, and the two twists.

Hope you can check out “The collector” It was supposed to be a prequel for saw but it got rejected. It’s like Home Alone x Saw. It also has a sequel called “The collection” and supposedly there would be a final movie called “The collected” but it got abandoned midway.

My big issue is still the twist. "I replicated a trap from ten years ago and reproduced the exact victim injuries in the exact same pattern to fool the people watching the movie. Don't ask why John never did glowing eyes after that one time." Also the way so many of the traps rely on dumb luck; what if Ryan had fallen through the floor in a position where he couldn't reach the lever? What if Mitch hadn't stepped into the snare's radius before pressing play? Heck, what if Ryan hadn't fallen through the floor and gone into the silo with Mitch and Anna?

Cole, the pure joy on your face when Billy makes his appearance is one of my favorite parts! 😂 I’m glad I’m also not the only one who gets strangely entertained by Ryan throughout the movie. As always, thanks for all the entertainment! :)

So jigsaw is both prequel and sequel. Logan is indeed the first apprentice and I guess he was at war that’s why he’s not in the rest of the movies

Logan is the best and more effective apprentice HANDS DOWN! No question. I hope they do more with him in the future.

The biggest issue with Jigsaw is that it's theoretically not Canon to the rest of the franchise, due to timeline inconsistencies it can't be placed properly in the original timeline.

And now we come to the question you asked at the end of saw 7. Who were the three pig masks. Gordan. Logan. And One more. Well. The post credit scene in saw X in the bathroom. No Adam body. Lawrence said he would go back for him... Logan survived the game because John mixed up the dose of sedatives, and Logan mixed up the x-rays. Cancelled it out. So the theory now I have is that its the three of them. I would very much like to see them interact on screen together. Maybe with Hoffman surviving, starting a cult? Jigsaw International. A war of succession as it were.

My only problem with this movie is the twist is super contrived even for Saw standards and he ended with “I speak for the dead” instead of the classic “game over.” But I’m glad it exists for its traps and I feel it inspired Saw X in some ways.

And yes, I think you should watch Spiral since its still apart of the Saw universe and to just get it over with so you can move on to more horror film series. Would love to see you react to other stuff after you're done with Spiral. But yes, that one is also interesting and quite mixed among fans, myself included.

This one’s not my favorite but it has its moments. I’ve been a fan of the Saw franchise since I saw the original in the theater so I’ll watch anything in the Saw universe as part of a rewatch. I’m glad you’ve continued on and I’ve really enjoyed watching along!!

There's no movie confirmation but the writers of Saw said that Hoffman never got out of the bathroom when Dr Gordon put him there

Bringing back Tobin Bell & calling the movie Jigsaw instead of Saw 8, along with attempting to trick the audience that Kramer was still alive, was just an attempt to soft reboot the series & give fans what they wanted (which was more John) while still being tied to the franchise without necessarily contradicting what came before.

I hope you do react to Spiral! It has its issues, but I think the hate on it is overblown, there’s still a decent amount to like and despite being a spin-off it has enough Saw in its DNA to feel somewhat like the other films. It’s also directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (who directed II, III, and IV)!

I'm glad you checked this out. It was the first Saw movie i watched in the movie theater because i was finally old enough. The main game is pretty cool ( continuity was a little screwed because apparently John was the first to own flat screens 😂) , i actually really liked Logan as an apprentice , i definitely thought it was Eleanor. I remember after watching it i went back home and googled the website jigsawrules and was disappointed that it wasn't real. Would have been cool. Some movies and shows do that. And of course Tobin Bell in his shortest appearance yet which will be topped by Spiral with 0 seconds screentime 😭 . But the short time he had in Jigsaw he delivered like always ❤

I actually LOVED this movie. Great kills. Elaborate traps. I especially loved the last one, with the guy's head falling open like a CHILI'S onion blossom. "Scream, or don't" That was cold. I think you're gonna love SPIRAL.

As I said, I find this one a breath of fresh air after Saw V to VII. Before Jigsaw came out, I hadn't loved a Saw movie since Saw IV at the the time. This one I'm impressed. As for the apprentice, I STILL prefer Amanda. She's my girl!

I really enjoyed this movie because I fell for that twist in theaters. I was like HOLY SHIT THEIR RETCONNING HIS DEATH? I don't know, this is one of my personal favorites because of that and as a reboot to the franchise, it did it right imo though I preferred them bringing back Hoffman and Eleanor's great. I love that they wrote in an obsessed Jigsaw fan who may just become Logan's new helper because El's sort of a Jigsaw expert. Logan to me is as smart as Hoffman because he's working on the inside and possibly even better than Hoffman as a Jigsaw apprentice just because he didn't work his game out of vengeance. Though I'd love to see Hoffman vs. Logan. Logan may be my favorite Jigsaw apprentice side by side Hoffman. "I speak for the dead!" Logan had great motive and I literally did not see the main character becoming the new Jigsaw killer but I loved that twist and it made sense with it explaining at the end. I find myself loving this movie the more times I watch it. I don't know, it just felt like a great way to bring the franchise back and creating a new story with a new Jigsaw killer trying to rid of the corrupt cops and make the city a better place. Honestly, probably the best choice to continue the Jigsaw killings. But I need a Hoffman/Logan confrontation :D. Spiral I will say isn't my favorite at all but go ahead and watch it and give your own thoughts.

Fun fact! to others who still don’t get it. Logan Nelson is the very first apprentice of Kramer. Yep. He’s not just another apprentice but the very first apprentice of Kramer himself. like Eleanor said The game was built 10 years ago which was before all the other saw movies. And Nelson seems to be the most manipulative and intelligent apprentice of Kramer. So in short this was basically the very first saw movie but since it’s now in the future where Kramer is dead. His first apprentice only helped him build his traps and not actually help him capture criminals… That makes him the very first apprentice of Kramer who made his move 10 years after the very first game Kramer built. Therefore it only comes out after several other saw movies. Compared to amanda, Nelson is more manipulative, Intelligent, and a very good trap maker.

for me, the saw series ends with the seventh part, what comes after it doesn't count as a continuation, after all this time, I'm still impatiently waiting for the great return of hoffman who will continue the work of jigsaw even if he considered him unworthy of continuing his work. 27:00 see that's what makes me think Hoffman has been around for quite a while. How would've John known that she was the reason for the death of the baby? How did he get that information. Only a Detective/cop would've known the information and got information to the details. I would say Hoffman did some digging, and found her. Logan may be the guy that made the reverse bear trap from the first one and has been there since the beginning...BUT ..I think Hoffman's been around longer than they've said he has. Maybe we'll learn more down the road.

I have a suggestion for a song reaction. The Jig is up by Ice Nine Kills and yes it's about Saw. I think you'd really enjoy it. I recommend you watch a version that shows you the lyrics cause it's sometimes hard to understand. Hope you'll think about it. Love your reactions

I enjoyed this movie more than I enjoyed the Hoffman saga, personally. I am trying to appreciate these movies more, but initially I only enjoyed 1, 2, 5, 6, and Jigsaw. I don’t enjoy the insane amount of apprentices John acquired over the series, but I liked Amanda, Dr. Gordon (favorite) and Logan. Amanda gets a pass for me because it was more of John trying to take her under his wing (which inevitably failed), and besides, it didn’t last long anyway. I like the idea of the apprentices in the future being in the medical field (and wished the overall story didn’t hang so closely to the police department). I still haven’t watched Saw X, but Spiral left a bad taste in my mouth. That’s the broad strokes version of my thoughts on this series. I do enjoy watching them, but there’s so many things I wish they didn’t do. I just realized that since I haven’t seen Saw X then I can only give my opinion on 9 movies and I liked 5 of them. I must not dislike the others quite as bad as I thought I did because I still consider myself a Saw fan.

Unpopular opinion here, I actually like this movie. Although, I wouldn’t have done the “this happened a decade ago” cliche, but rather have Logan using an advanced mask to appear as John Kramer and mimic his voice in order to continue his legacy. The man was in the military and maybe an excuse could be used that he was also a black ops soldier, so he would have had access to special technology, which would explain why the game we saw in this film was so advanced in comparison to the others. Also, part of the reason why I like this film is how I went from disliking Ryan to liking him, as he truly felt remorse for what he did and he also did try to save the others. He even tried to save Anna from firing the gun when he realized that it would backfire on her, despite knowing shat she did and was trying to kill him. The guy may not have been a fully developed character but he had the most out of anyone in the movie.

I don’t consider this canon but it is somewhat fun when I don’t consider it part of the main story

One of my favorite movies in the franchise. Logan is an awesome Jigsaw protege and he is still alive. Halloran and Anna got what they deserved. And you know what's funny? That John actually spared Logan not only because his crime was an honest mistake, but because John nearly became a murderer in a way he understood - he overdosed Logan and didn't give him a chance during the game. And in fact, if it wasn't for him, John's games would have been more hypocritical - would have come from anger and vengeance. And the cherry on the cake is that John didn't force Logan to stay as an apprentice - he let him go.

I would also give Spiral a watch as well. It's still in the same timeline, but does not directly tie into the John Kramer storyline. The ending alone, as well as a couple of the traps keep it watchable.

i agree with you they oh john kramer was still alive gimmick was overused in this movie, it would have been better if they teased that hoffman escaped his trap(Which we will see if they revisit the bathroom trap dr gordon put hoffman in) and that he was behind this, or if dr gordon was behind this

I’m not a fan of either Jigsaw or Spiral (which I won’t talk about here) but I dislike them for very different reasons... Jigsaw specifically just lacks atmosphere and has no energy in it. It feels very soft compared to the other films and I just don’t find the story all that compelling. The writing isn’t great, but if the film had more in common with the established visual elements and presentation of the other films I feel like it could have smoothed out some of the storytelling issues. In the end, the film feels really sterile and isn’t very fun to watch. So, I only bother with it when reactors view it for the first time and I listen to their thoughts on it. Been LOVING your marathon of the Saw movies though!

I feel this is a decent sequel in the Saw movie franchise. It adds new elements like a anthor apprentice an explains some more of John Kramers past. What more can you ask for from a sequel you get some new stuff. Along with some explanation of some old stuff. Now about John sparring him because it was a honest mistake. It makes sense because he didn't put the wrong name on the x-ray. On perpus it was a mistake he didn't mean to cause any harm. Because if you look at all the other people he put into the games. Those people knowingly and willingly did those things. They knowingly and willingly hurt people or lied to people or kill people or themselves. They had a option not to do it but they chose to do it anyway. So they made a choice to lie , hurt or kill someone or themselves. That shows they don't care about life but in this one the guy made a honest mistake without knowing he made it. So John Kramer spared him an took him under his wing an helped him. Because even John Kramer knew an unstood that honest mistakes happen. He made some himself you lose focus for one second then you do something. You never meant to do like accidentally cut yourself or something. So John Kramer came to understand that the guy didn't swap the names on perpus. He was just doing alot of things an it just happened by random chance. Unlike the rest of the people in that game they knowingly and willingly did what they did. Fully knowing the consequences of those actions to other people. Then they never came clean about what they did so they where never punished for it. So John Kramer had some morals if you never. Knowingly and Willingly hurt or lied or killed anyone or yourself. You were making a honest mistake because you never meant to lie or hurt or kill someone or yourself. So you value your life an other people's life. But if you go out of your way to lie or hurt or kill someone or yourself. You don't value your life or anyone else life so you would get tested.

I myself liked Jigsaw, it was fun but definetely pretty weak. Still leagues better than 3D for me tho

Oh boy... this one was... something else lol. Plot and story wise, it could have been much better but I did find it interesting in the sense that they tried to make it seem like Jigsaw somehow faked his death. After we all watched him DIE in Saw 3. Of course, it's always a pleasure hearing John's voice and seeing him. Dude... Anna was such a... ugh. She is one of the most unlikable characters of the series and for good reason. I was sick to my stomach finding out that she not only killed her own child but the fact that she lied about it and made her husband take the fall for it and later "unaliving" himself thinking that he did it was super BULLSHIT and that pissed me off so badly. And... she got her dumb ass killed while also condemning Ryan to die a slow, painful death was just the icing on the cake. Of course, Cecila from Saw X dethroned Anna as one of the most hated characters recently. I also was shocked that John had a nephew that ended up dying due to Mitch. He got what he deserved as far as I'm concerned. The traps were not the best but I did like some of them. I think my favorites were the bucket heads, the cycle trap and the laser collars. They were wild. I also thought Logan was kind of cool too. I loved some of his quotes. "You have a choice: scream... or don't" and "I speak for the dead" was badass! But yes, this one has its flaws and issues! Not quite on the same level as 5 or 3D but up there lol. Another thing I liked was the opening scene and musical cue for that one. It felt super different from what I was used to. Hearing "Hello Zepp" in a very catchy and upbeat tone caught me off guard when I first heard it. Felt more like an action kind of thing going on! Was kind of disappointed that its not on the soundtrack.

I feel like they were doing way too much and they have so many unanswered questions. I do see potential in Logan’s character but it’s definitely one of my least favorites of the franchise

I like it but don't love it. It prob my lowest ranked saw movie but it's still a saw movie so it's great.

I like this movie but it is very illogical and I don't like what it does to the lore, and the whole futuristic technology in the game compared to what we've actually seen of John's first games, it doesn't add up. I still like it way more than Spiral though!

Again it’s another lazy reveal of another apprentice that never showed up. The messing with time twist was performed sm better in saw 2. Traps are pretty unmemorable except the spiral trap. I hate the way the movie is shot it’s so weird especially Billy like wha did they do to him. Once again they try to put in jigsaw for a little bit cause they know killing him off so early was a mistake.
