4 ай бұрынCome along for another crazy trip, that didn’t turn out like planned! The 80’ had been up and running since we changed engines for a while, thought we’d test it out with a trip to Yalwal! However only an hour out of home towards Mansfield, the old girl decided that not today!
After some puppy dog eyes were given by Samantha, her dad let us borrow the 100 series to do a trip up to the Big Dessert & Border track!

1fz-fe petrol, way cheaper to rebuild you'd probably looking at 7,000 or 10'000, for fresh rebuild instead of $20'000 on 1hdtfte, and if you want to through a turbo on it the stock internals are good for about 500hp on the 1fz, i reckon it would be a better option, the desiel egines are more expensive to fix if something goes wrong, but have fun with what ever you decide on, like the content keep it coming, hopefully the 80 is back soon

Nothing worse than having the motor on the shed floor with issues. Nice upload on the trip. Hopefully you get a solution to the problem. I'd love to see a vid on the motor tear down to why it failed. Maybe someone can sponsor you a rebuild with the channels influence.. Cheers Jim

Toyota still sell new factory 1HD-FTE long motors,might sound Expensive but it will save you in the long run. Only saying that as another rebuild will end up the same, never had luck or even heard of anyone having luck with rebuilds. Might be because Toyota have millions of dollars invested in precise equipment and machinery to ensure the motors are manufactured and built to the correct specs, I know old mate in his shed can wheel a spanner but……

Spend the coin and get a ft or a fte easiest conversion and there by far the most reliable motors that bush big power with simply supporting mods, and it’s still keeping everything Toyota so everything just bolts in

I'm curious as to how you get that to happen. Could have just as well been a lemon. Maybe time to join the 1hz family or maybe consider a Triton as a basher? 4M41 ftw. That dose on Brad's 80 was impressive. I'm still baffled as to how it happened.

@jarrod1687 Hey, I know Mitsubishi's are not that popular down under. But they are very good (triton/ pajero). Especially the 4m41, good engine. 1hz I mentioned because a stock one you can't break.

lol who would put a Isuzu diesel to replace a Toyota one, just get a factory long motor look after it and it will go around the clock

@@phs84 after you own a 4.2L hz or hd series engine and try and get power out of them, here is why! You are right with low power, they do go forever, but not quickly haha

@@TheEverydayExplorerAUS the 1HD-FTE comes from the factory with 151Kw and 430Nu, that is more than the CRD 4JJ1, the 1HD-FTE is still used in marine application outputs upto 320kw from the factory.
