You are amazing at up cycling and really inspired me. Just a suggestion, wash your bias binding several times, it should take out the sizing and soften it up so you will be able to use it for the elastic casing. Hope this really helps. Your blouses are lovely.

Hello, an ardent sew/crafter here...perhaps pop the binding in a pillowcase or one of those drawstring bags used to wash delicate things in, then pop in with your laundry? I remember, too, we used to get small mesh drawstring bags to use to hold laundry tablets! One of those would be ideal! Hope helps.❤ @@afrayed_upcycling

Hi Scarlet(t). New to your channel, enjoying your vids. A suggestion…could you make the sleeve slightly longer, and sew an internal pleat/flap into the wrist/gathered area to enclose the elastic, instead of adding the extra satin bias binding? Then sew down the internal flap as you would bias binding. Best wishes, Lu x

You can source softer cotton bias tape, tends to be patterned and is lovely to work with. However it does rend to be more expensive and I’m sure you must use loads in your makes. If I had the amount of scrap fabric you have (not embarrassing at all by the way) I’d invest in a Simplicity bias binding making machine and make my own bias tape, making your garments and accessories even more unique.

26 degrees is usually Spring time here in Australia, which I can’t wait for. Our winter is around 20 degrees on the Central Coast NSW so it’s not too cold. For Europe that’s a nice Spring day. We have a 40 degree week in summer and that’s challenging but I love it here. I’d be a real cry baby in England or Wales complaining about how cold I am. I love your wonderful creations by the way. Hi, love your videos. I'm also dabbling in upcycling thrifted fabrics and clothes... self taught sewist from way back. Re bias for elastic casing, maybe also try stitching lace or bias onto the right side of fabric. No scratches then. I am right now upcycling two pair of pants into one, jeans and cool boho pants... a bit tricky... a work in progress... 🤞🤞they turn out great! hi from ontario ,,, this was fun.. i had a nightgown home business 35 years ago... made long good quality flannel gowns..and i never had a complaint about elastic, which every gown was finished with that. Dont be nervous ,... maybe stitch around twice if you worry....like you , i also had to keep costs down to increase a profit...advice to keep in mind your cost of handling a garment , adding more steps and materials must increase your final price....and im not sure about satin bias tape does it wash and wear well....good luck with your course

I like to use scrap fabric pieced together to make my bias tape, its helps use up some of the smaller bits of a project. Although it can be tedious and time consuming, I prefer it to store bought bias binding because I hate having to wash the sizing out of it before I use it.

I have been inspired by your work, I have a question about pattern grading? My measurements are not as the patterns are and my top is one size my middle is another and then my hips are another. I would love to be able to order a pattern by putting my sizes in and the pattern be made to the sizes I give, I know there are systems like Luterlough (may have spelt that wrong) but I find it too complicated to grade the pattern as even then there is some grading required as it works off "Normal" proportions, and who is NORMAL! Keep up the good work Scarlet.
