Thank you Troy. It is a joy and honor to be able to work with our children and each other. It is wonderful to work with someone who knows what needs to be done, sometimes before I do, without being told.

Amazed at how well you two get along. I fished my whole life with my Dad and at times he could be very volatile. Enjoy your repairs and am guessing your Dad at one time worked in a boatyard with his overall knowledge. Keep up the good work Matt you and your Dad are a pleasure to watch. Matt you both are very good at what you do.

Glad to see the father and son team working together. I'm from Gloucester Mass, Americas oldest seaport where lots of families worked the ocean together. Sadly that doesn't happen too much out here like it used to, but still a viable seaport. Glad you can make a good living still working the ocean responsibly

I can't imagine pulling that many fish over the rail at one time, just amazing and very exciting to watch! A body has to be in great physical condition to do that kind of fishing, all the bending over, hard on the back, then down on your knees to bleed 'em, also just on your feet for such long periods of time! I have immense amounts of respect for the jobs you do, it's tough but you fishermen are tougher!

Man that is hard work i'm getting a sore back just looking at you guys hauling in the fish. I love of all your videos and I like the simplicity of the jig's you use the wheel the motor and all the gear that you use. As a matter of interest how is rock cod eaten, you guys fry it or steam it. I would imagine that it's one of those types of fishes that is consumed on a regular basis. Cheers from Brisbane Australia.

In Denmark we're only allowed to catch one cod per day, but our ocean are empty. It's almost impossible to catch anything and if you had the luck to catch one, it's filled with worms from the seals. Dang I wish that I could visit Alaska just once.

Extracting fish from the preservation box, why not make a container the size of the box and lift it directly with a crane and take it out of the boat and when it is finished it is returned directly, almost similar to dropping snow, but on the contrary

Can you separately target both cod and rockfish on the same trip? It seems that the cod shouldn't really be considered bycatch if you catch them in a different area than the rockfish
@EISAlaska
@EISAlaska 2 жыл бұрын
The black rockfish fishery is a directed (targeted) fishery. As we often catch cod during rockfish drifts and we are allowed to retain 20% by weight. As long as they come out of the district we are fishing in it is ok.
