Well this might be the most embarrassing moment in my drag racing life. After a test run at Bradenton Motorsports Park I set off the extinguisher system (deliberately), but the wrong one! Instead of spraying my engine bay my own car gave me a money shot!

@@mostneuter yes but if you go back and watch video from Tom’s earlier fire, his system is above and beyond the minimum, if it wasn’t things could have been much worse, the minimum isn’t really enough.

But he must do a couple of dry runs so there is muscle memory where what is. This was not that bad and he pulled the wrong lever and had trouble to find the other one.

I’ve always believed that if you have any amount of money tied up in a car you race, you need to have a fire suppression system in place. Crazy stuff happens constantly

Clean up on aisle sick. Really sucks you had to pull the fire suppression but the part where it hits you square in the face was perfect. Really hope you get it figured out before Sick Week. This is truly my favorite race car. Would love to see some 5.xx runs next week.

I had seen the clip of the extinguishers going off in the intro and cringed every time. I didn't know why there would be a water line in the cockpit, but that was my first thought. When I was 18, I was driving a company car, making deliveries, and it got hot. I pulled into a gas station and was pouring water over the radiator, and a co-worker popped the cap and jumped back. I was holding a big watercan and couldn't get back. It sprayed my face real good. The only good part was when we got back to the shop, the bosses gorgeous daughter did first aid. It was painful but enjoyable.

That black Ford II lincoln is a legit as a used car gets !!!!!!!!!!!!!Hand made before the brand had Ford in front of it..Lincoln WAS its own brand then. The green one is such a beautiful example.

I have seen many of the NPD collection and he has a sweet collection of all original cars the only collection that I know is bigger is the Brothers collection but many of them have been restored but they do have many originals too and one of the biggest Hemi collection that I have ever seen

I dig hot pits for a steel mill, and we have dry fire suppression systems. I’ve seen videos and have seen equipment in person that have had the dry systems go off….. man. Thank god it wasn’t. It would be like getting a “class a” extinguisher to the face. Good call though man. Good save

Probably needs to practice that fire extinguisher procedure a little more often just to get the muscle memory down so it becomes second nature. I know he's dedicated to safety unlike a lot of channels.... uncle Chet comes to mind.

The Goodyear looks a lot better than the Hoosier, and that Steve Morris engine is the baddest big block turbo combo on the planet, he definitely has something there , the 481X has nothing on the SMX , I'd take a SM engine over anything else no questions, Tom your car is neat how it can live that many miles and still run the numbers, I understand the maintenance is mind blowing but I don't see any other motor doing as well as a SM under those conditions, can't wait

I know you are going to be busy for a little while with sick week. I was very curious not knowing anything about the fire suppression in the cars in the video. In the beginning you stated you pulled the wrong handle. What does that mean? Is the car sectioned into two systems, it would be awesome to see a video about how it works and after you used it, were you satisfied with the coverage? How big of a fire are they rated for Thank you so much .

Tom, with all the electrical and computers that you have in your cars you should get a Novec fire system. It's gas based not water. It's made for the environment you have in your cars. Zero 360 FIA 3.0kg Novec 1230 Stored Pressure Electric System
