Gotta love the Beatles.❤

The Beatles are actually the biggest selling musical artists of all time. The list is as follows: #5) Led Zeppelin - approximately 350 million units sold. #4) Michael Jackson - approximately 400 million units sold. #3) Garth Brooks - approximately 500 million units sold. #2) Elvis Presley - approximately 750 million units sold. and then finally #1) The Beatles - approximately 2.1 BILLION UNITS SOLD!!!!!! As you can see, no one else even comes close to them. They are as relevant today as they were 50 years ago, and they are currently tied with Adele for the biggest selling album of the 21st century (with the album titled "1"). So, so many great songs. Man!!! What a reaction!!! But pretty darn accurate. They led what was called the British Invasion. The British bands got inspired by American music of the 1940's and 1950's. Also with Little Richard's and Elvis Presley's rock and roll, the British bands carried music to a new level.

Try some earlier Beatles when they 1st came out. , I Saw Her Standing There, I Wanta Hold Your Hand.

I would like to recommend another Beatles Diamond for you it's their song called "Blackbird". It's a song Paul wrote in response the segregation they saw taking place in the US back in the 60's. The song was inspired by black girls.

In August 2021, The Beatles: Get Back, a new documentary film directed by Peter Jackson utilising footage captured for what became the Let It Be film, will be released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures in the US and Canada, with a global release to follow. It was originally going to be released in 2020 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Let It Be album, but was delayed to due the COVID-19 pandemic.

American bands? Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers Band, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and Neil Young., Santana, Janis Joplin and Steely Dan. A little later on Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and so many more.

All the Black artists we're not listened to by white america until Elvis came out. Then Fats Domino, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, and Ray Charles took off. These were the Beatles influences. The Rolling Stones were more Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, John lee Hooker, BB King, etc... Barry Gordy hadn't even kicked Motown off yet. actually, this song wasnt a beatles hit. it wasnt a nr1 song, but they have 27 other nr1 songs, such as Something, Let it be, I wanna hold ur hand etc etc. personally, i would consider the song, Here comes the song, as a hit song, eventhough it wasnt a tier S song from em or wasnt even a single in many places. thats why i always say beatles is underrated. all bands /artist would dream about having those type of songs, and it would be their greatest by far

The thing is, most of those English Bands, Beatles, Stones, Who, Led Zep. etc. were heavily influenced by the American Black music, Blues, Jazz, and Rock. Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Muddy Waters. But we also had Elvis, and Dylan represents the U.S. well. There was only one Beatles though.

I just started watching your reactions last week. It's great seeing such a lovely spirit being turned on by great music like this. The Beatles have always been my favorite band. Interesting side note: George brought in his friend Eric Clapton to play those weeping guitar solos! I'll try to help answer your question about why the big rock bands in history usually came from other countries. Back in the late fifties and early sixties, at the beginning of rock'n'roll, the first generation of rock stars were usually American solo acts. Sadly, at that time, there was a lot of segregation going on in all areas of commerce, including music. So, there were only a small handful of African-American rock singers who got celebrity level recognition (i.e. Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Bo Diddley); most others were marginalized or even worse ignored outside of urban markets in Chicago or Detroit or NYC. Motown started to change that when they had a whole roster of singers making it big, like Smokey Robinson, The Supremes and The Temptations--and they weren't about to let up until their artists got the recognition they deserved. But there was still racially motivated suppression happening in the entertainment industry. Unless these stars had huge hits that appealed to everyone, their exposure was limited. Then came The Beatles: once they got big, not only did they suffuse a new energy and excitement with their music, not only did they inspire young fans and aspiring young musicians alike with a "see-you-can-do-this-too" type of attitude, they also blended the music they loved into rock'n'roll, such as R&B, jazz, dance hall music, etc. In the process, they also influenced dozens of other fellow bands in England to do the same thing. For instance, The Rolling Stones were avid fans of the Blues and Soul music and started incorporating those genres into what they were doing. Thus, all these groups from England exposed kids all over the world to all of these different styles of American music that they rarely were able to hear before. Another reason also is that these English groups not only incorporated these types of music that had been all but ignored, but they put their own perspective to these blues and R&B and Soul songs which had shown the potential these bands had for innovation yet at the same time remaining respectful and faithful to the source material and artists they admired. It was this spirit of innovation and invention that encouraged these bands to take rock'n'roll to all sorts of different levels...it took a couple of years for American rock groups to catch up, but by 1965 you had bands like The Byrds and The Rascals starting to meet the challenge and Motown kept snowballing, getting bigger than ever and thanks to this new exposure, other artists on record labels like Stax (Otis Redding, Booker T. & The M.G.'s, The Staples Singerz) were starting to become famous. But you're right, nobody could outdo The Beatles. The only other artists/groups that I can think of who came close to the level of The Beatles accomplishments were Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Eagles, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson or Led Zeppelin. You are absolutely right about the British "invasion" of rock bands, it was definitely a thing during the '60s. I was also thinking about Elvis when you asked which American artist measured up, and you're right, he's all there was. Btw, I'm American two of my top favorite bands are British, the Beatles and Queen. They got something in the water over there that just makes great rock 'n roll, lol.

You can't really say the UK bands dumped on the US, because - yes the best UK bands made it massive in the US, all riding off the initial success of The Beatles - but the inspiration for the UK bands was US music. The Beatles themselves mention Presley, but the likes of Chuck Berry and Elmore James were huge influences. The US has produced amazing new music which has inspired around the world, and the reason the British bands did so well is more down to the music industry in the US who stopped investing and supporting diverse acts at that time to concentrate on selling "safe" family-friendly doo-wap "artists" whereas the UK were experiencing a boom of US-inspired rock'n'roll.

All British bands from the early 1960's played American Blues songs from 1950's. They covered songs from Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Willie Dixon, etc. The Beatles became more creative around 1965, always more innovative than the rest.

Still though, Emily, no one really cared where the band originated as long as the music was great like this one. One thing you have to understand about the Beatles is they first came to America to tour in 1964 and by 1970 the Beatles, as a band, was over. There was no more Beatles, we had what we had. But then they started solo careers so everyone did ok ;) Also we could easily reference Woodstock 1969 for a nice selection of the killer American artists of the time including Janis Joplin. Try Janis Joplin, Take Another Little Piece of my Heart. Also Joni Mitchell, Carey. Heart, Crazy on You. Linda Ronstadt, You’re No Good. And Stevie Nicks, Stand Back, Edge of Seventeen. It might be great to get into some of the female artists of that time?

Not all USA groups were bad the Supremes had 13 no 1 singles in USA in the 60s only Beatles at 20 no 1s beat them Beatles ain't in the top 3 bands there no 1 band ever Michael Jackson Elvis Motown artists have sung there songs
