My first one is sold and gone. Here is what was a mobile Maco KW but since I got ahold of a Base power supply, it has been converted to base. Runs on 110 at 15 amps. The mobile supply ran off a 3 phase alternator which I did not have. This one uses 3 8950 tubes driving 8 M2057's. Some used a single pre-driver tube (1x3x8) but I think as radios got more and more powerful, the pre-driver tube was eliminated. This one does pretty good with the Tram Titan 4 in front of it, but really sings with the JB-12 'Modulator' on. Some people hate 'Modulator' type amps and 'dial-a-watts' in radios. Well, to me, if nothing else, and used correctly, they drive bigger amps better.

@@tramdr yes me to but I use the corrosion control almost everywhere else including boards , Jack's, cases, hardwear,, prevents rusr and corrosion try : Bullfrog electronic spray for a fine mist Try Corrosion X - thicker AC-50 thicker. Use when cleaning let spread into spaces ,chassis,boards both sides let run off onto towel , wipe down excess, tilt radio on blocks, let sit - rotate . Looks good also . But dust and vacuum out first . Military always treats avionics for corrosion control. Use caution. Thanks brother man, from John NY engineer CB ch 17,6

@@smokinjo79 I just saw that on the 750 I am refurbing that the high/low switch selects either the high voltage tap or mid voltage tap off the main transformer. If the switch is bad, it would cause that problem.

Hi Doc, can you please tell me the best order to install 4 new tubes in my Palomar type skipper amp? bought 2 Matched pairs but the amp is 1X3, so not shure but trying to keep the best set working together in tube position 3 and 4. but maybe they should be first to have best for the driver? always fun seeing your shop and goodies, thanks

it doesn't matter much at all as long as the tubes are good. Driver tube does not need to match anything at all. It's best for the finals to match each other, but if they all have good output, then you should be fine.
