I do the same thing when on works trips staying in a hotel. I'm up and out the door so early in the morning that I want to just grab my kit and go without thinking, so preparing the night before in my zone is past mes way of making future mes life easier.

i love staying at hotels. i do a similar thing. here in the usa, hotels for some reason decide to put blankets on sideways and i have to put them on the correct way. i also like to unplug everything and tell staff that nothing works. i dont know why.

I resonate with this practice! I do the same when I am visiting somewhere for an extended period of time. Coincidentally, I was thinking about this recently as well since I am away from home for a couple weeks. I think of this practice as a bird customizing their nest or a dog fluffing up their bedding to their preference.
