We took a day trip to Taos where Ansel Adams shot once. I needed to do some photography in the middle of the day.
My photography on Instagram at / brendanvanson
Ansel Adams is a legend. So, to shoot a location that he did his photography work at once is inspiring. But, it was also a challenge to shoot as I needed to do some midday photography which is never easy.
And, usually I would use Ansel Adams as inspiration in a situation like this and shoot some black and white stuff. But, I also really liked the contrast of colours between the blue skies and orange Adobe.
Taos, in general too was amazing. There was lots to shoot, and even in the middle of the day it was such a thrill to be doing photography somewhere like that. I could have definitely spent more time in Taos.
Tomorrow on the photography vlog I explore more places here in New Mexico.

I never once compared the number of photo’s taken between youtube photovloggers. Nor do i compare the quality. It’s much more valuable and fun to have such different photographers vlogging their journey. I can only say thank you for bringing us along. Love the channel 👍🏻

Brendan, I came to your channel for the photography. I stayed for the adventure, your personality and for the opportunity to watch someone constantly challenge himself (and usually succeed). This video was great - keep up the great work. PS. Start waking up earlier for sunrises!!! :)

It's not that people don't go there, it's a weekday, and all the snowbirds have gone home. Living in Arizona, I have learned to embrace the daytime photoshoots. Blue sky is not the enemy, lack of composition skills is. Great series, loving it. Now I want to take the trip again.

Great video Brendan. What an amazing place Taos looks. Loved the images of Autumn Deer, and all the others for that matter, it's no wonder Ansel Adams photographed there. Whatever you do don't get pressurized, that's about the worst thing that can happen and your passion will suffer for it.

That's why I subscribed to watch a different take on photography. It's a great way to see the travel and getting the image for a magazine, advertising images for tourism boards and rental car companies. Totally different style from a day with Thomas Heaton. We're able to learn a total different take on the camera, between the two of you.

I’m enjoying the reality of your videos. I’m a wedding and portrait photographer but love land and seascapes on a personal level. For what it’s worth I don’t have expectations that every shot will be amazing and I’m with you when you say sometimes it’s difficult to get the ‘one shot’ but when the one shot blinkers are off you don’t miss all the amazing atmosphere of a location. I actually enjoy your take on everyday snapshots, using different angles and framing and I like to see more of the places so keep up the great work. I would say peace, but I’m too old for that :)

Great route 66 vlogs! The Indian pueblo site you visited near Taos NM is a UNESO World Heritage Site and a National Historic Landmark. Tens of Thousands of people visit this beautiful pueblo every year. On Sept. 30th, Feast Day, over 10,000 people show up! The river running through the pueblo is their main source of water and the ancient part of the pueblo is home to about 150 full-time residents, with about 2,600 Taos Indians living on the 100,000-acre reservation. When I visited in 2012 there were suddenly many cars with horns blaring entering the pueblo. A wedding party exited the cars to have their photos taken in front of the pueblo buildings. They were dressed in traditional Indian clothes and it was wonderful to see! Safe travels ~

Sorry that you feel pressured to take photographs Brendan. I can't speak for everyone else, but I watch your videos because I find them so entertaining and interesting. I love to travel and wish I could do more, so watching your videos gives me ideas as to where to go next or in the future. I have to admit though, the photography is a huge added bonus, simply because you're so talented and inspirational and I long to be able to take photos as well as you one day.

Hi Brendan... I understand what you're saying, as I joined this channel hoping to see photography, but now I come back everyday just to see your adventures. Just keep doing what you're doing, if you try and force the photos then you're always going to struggle and it'll be insincere.

One of the things I really like about this episode is that you showed the reality of shooting in mid-day. I know that is not the optimum time to shoot, but many times as I travel, I am not in a place where I can properly plan to shoot at sunset or sunrise. I liked the challenge you set for yourself to find a composition at this time of day. I must say you did, and your images were great! Looking forward to Albuquerque!

The fact that you cover both travel and photography is one of the main reasons why I subscribed. It is cool how you get to travel to cool places, experience the culture, and take some awesome photos along the way. Although I can only travel on weekends and during vacations (I work full time right now), travel is one of my hugest passions, and I also like to take photos and video along the way. I also learn some great tips about photography at the same time. Always continue to follow your passions! Anyway, Taos looks really cool! New Mexico is one state I need to check out especially Santa Fe.

Taos is one of those heavenly places for photographers, particularly the Pueblo featured here. (They sell "Indian Bread" which is outstanding but dripping with fat.) To travel in the footsteps of Ansel Adams, take the High Road (old Spanish highway)from Santa Fe to Taos. If you are spotting Adams' locations, be prepared for 60 years of development intruding on some subjects.

Mate I enjoy your channel and I don't think you should feel the need to be something you are or are not.... just be you. I asked a week or two ago the same question of you.I see you as a traveller who takes photos more than a photographer.... but really who cares.... do what you want to do and the rest will come I say.

I really don't think you should feel pressured to produce photographs! Your channel is one of my favorites, if not THE favorite, (and I would call my self a photographer). I checked your "about" page and it says "always photography related". Maybe you could remove that? It might take some pressure off of you. And as for most KZfaqrs the reasson you follow a channel is about the personality, not the content, and you have a ton of great personality that a lot of people look up to! For me it is mainly your constant positivity that I look up to, the photos come second. Have a great day!
