Episode 4 (Stick to the team) 14:07.. the lady on the intercom says “attention staff, the special game will begin shortly, will all *workers, soldiers* and *managers* make your way to your designated work stations” this means that in their world, the circles are called workers, the triangles are called soldiers and the squares are called managers.

I do want to say that when lights out is going on, the announcer says for Workers (circles) solders (triangles) and managers (squares) to report to there designated location. So this means that hey are not all called soldiers.

So I just watched an interview with HoYeon and she said (in regards to the red vs blue ddakji theory) that director based the colors off of the Korean fairy tale of Aka Manto. According to wikipedia he is a toilet spirit who offers you red or blue toilet paper and choosing either color will result in your death. The solution is to ignore the spirit and it will spare you. Maybe this is the parallel to the well dressed man. No matter what color you choose, you end up in the games, so the actual "right" answer is to not participate in the games. This seems redundant though as not participating means there is no story but I found that quite interesting.

For the first question, pay attention to the subtitles of when a guard speaks. It will say masked worker/soldier/manager. And as many people have said, circles are workers, triangles are soldiers, and squares are managers. So the Job Title of the guards who dependant on their shape. Edit: This is why when the guard who said "it's nothing a soldier dies," he is referring to himself and all other soldiers. For the song "Pink Soldiers," I don't know. Maybe the song is just referring to the triangles? Again I have no clue.

The triangles are the soldiers the squares are the managers/super visor and the circles are the workers.

Another question: How did the guards hide the tug of war message in the doctor’s egg?

I've been a huge fan of South Korean movies for almost 20 years, they make the best movies on the planet in every genre but comedy. Their TV production, though, has traditionally been a notch below in terms of budgets, talent, production value etc. Squid Game has some outstanding aspects, especially a great story and excellent set design but it suffers from poor casting, the male lead is miscast and overacting throughout the show, it's so bad at times it looks like the kind of overacting common in Asian comedies in the 1990's. With a better lead and with acting turned down a notch or two it could have been a contender.
