I am very Christian, and honestly I agree with you. I have a unique love and appreciation for not just mythology but also folklore in its own regards. Especially because of the impact of the very Christian (though we are of different sects) J.R.R. Tolkien and his world of Arda.

im a muslim and i kidna have an interest in greek myths and egyptian and norse,but not because of gods and stuff,because i jjust find the stories interesting and they even can be life lessons sometimes (King midas story for example:Be careful for what you wish for.)

As a Catholic I really like seeing another Christian who loves mythology and isn’t afraid to show it. I adore your take on Mythology and Christianity, where just because you believe in one thing doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate another thing. I do wish people understood the myth in mythology stands more so to “story” than “false”. Because there are plenty of true stories out there.

Imo the difference between mythology and religion is that mythology is the story part. For example, Abrahamic Mythology is the stories and characters like Moses, Lucifer, Michael, Beelzebub, etc. Mythology is an aspect of religion. Religion also consists of theology and rituals

I’m Christian, a few years ago we had a religious studies class where the final project was to do a presentation on a religion and it could be anything. I chose to cover Greek and Roman mythology (yes they’re different mythologies and I talking about the differences and misconceptions) and I had the time of my life and got top of the class. But some of my classmates were like “oohh you’re Christian, why are you talking about something that’s not your religion?” Like what are you talking about? Everyone knows about Christianity and talking about something not everyone is into is more refreshing. You can be interested in other mythologies or religions and still have a set faith. Great take dude.

There’s also a great book series called in bite sized chunks with world mythology in bite sized chunks or the history of Europe in bite sized chunks. The author is Mark Daniels.

I'm so glad there's a creator out there with a sizable audience who's publically Christian. There are so many other KZfaqrs who don't seem to be, so it's just cool to me that someone who talks about smth I'm interested in just so happens to be religious. :)

And for that matter a myth being a widely held but false belief or idea is only one definition of myth, the other being a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events.

about the myth vs mythology thing, I go to a catholic high school and one of the English selectives is a mythic and modern class where we dive into mythological tropes and how they apply to modern day. The way that the definition of mythology was explained is that it's a story with significance and staying power which is to say, stories with meanings that resonated people across places and times. In that sense, most religious storytelling would be mythological as religious storytelling must resonate with people at their core.

1:42 My uncle, mom, and I all enjoy Greek mythology despite being Christian. Heck, ALL of my uncle’s kids are named after Greek gods and deities. I basically like to think of Greek myths as stories. as a former Christian I always liked Greek Mythology and when I was a Christian I was told "it is fine to read and learn about mythology as long as if you don't think it is real" or something along those lines. I’m an atheist but faith and relgion and mythology always fascinates at time the only time I’m relay pushed away from discussion is when it comes to the talk of what’s “the true relgion” because honestly it adds nothing of value to the conversation and is just a needless compitition that try’s to put one’s own belifes higher than others. It just gets me to not want to speak anymore because rather than discussing the intresting quirks of peoples religious belives and understanding it’s just putting one’s own bellies higher in some elitist manner that hurts the discussion and what we can learn and improve on as no relgion is perfect. I like the mythology’s live and let live aproach I’m generally the same myself belive what you want as long as you don’t bring harm to others. Idk if I’m articulating this properly the general consensus im trying to say is Live and let live as long as you don’t push others down or hold yourself superior to others take what you can learn. For example of my biggest teachers growing up was Jesus and his teachings of humility kindness acceptance and love and those teachings stuck with me even when I left the faith. I may not belive in Christianity heck I even question if Jesus had existed in the first place to a degree but I still understand the importance of some teachings and the good it can bring
