Awesome stuff, man. Your videos are always cool because there's no bs. You should do more covers, too. Your voice and an acoustic guitar can do wonders. :)

I enjoyed the “discussion” about warming up throughout the day before a gig at night

Question for the next one - what is your recommendation for mapping out a melody for a song, especially during the verses where the intervals are not large, but you want to make sure you "nail" it.

Keep the vowels as close as you can to each other don’t blurt out and blast and spread on any words. Also soften and get off consonants quickly and sing the vowel. Sing it thru on oo and get the legato line nice and smooth then sing the words

Maybe you saw that video of Jack Livigni demonstrating quickly the “rock star” high note, vs the opera tenor high note (Db5 in his example)…and since you come from both schools of thought, your opinion there. That reinforced falseto term comes into play, but I guess the point ….is the mechanism really different how you would do it (as he sort of implies)? I guess I mean there should also be middle ground there, where a rock guy is supporting or giving “substance” as he says, but it doesn’t have that opera sound whatsoever. ?

No reinforced falsetto that only weakens the voice. When Jack made that video we were discussing that some days before. The high notes are the same rock and opera when you are up past C#. It’s another register but not reinforced falsetto. Many opera singers don’t use it as the music doesn’t call for it ibut some do. There are some good examples of rock singers using a supported non reinforced falsetto up there. Mickey thomas ray Gillian. If you go and listen to some of my covers you will here the substance in The Boston tune and Jane etc. I don’t use reinforced falsetto as I did when I was young and it started to ruin my voice

@@danielformica-yourvocalteacher kzfaq.infoeE2AE588lKU?feature=share Hi Dan, would you consider what Livigni does for his rock example in this video as an example of reinforced falsetto?
