We started using full synthetic oil in our units. We’re doing changes every 8k miles on ours. There have been way less breakdowns on our fleet but not going to say the oil is the reason. It’s just keeping up with them on a timely fashion. Some of our older units (2006 with dt466E) are roughly at 300k and are still running strong. I work on school bus fleet with a lot of idle time. I did a repair on a DT466, with the help from Joe. best Sensei in the business. I had the same problem with the tappets breaking and lifters turning. I went ahead and doubled up on the tappets as the manual I used for repairing recommended it. So far so good. it has been about 15 months and it has been running strong. Using Mobil Delvac. since the truck doesn't run on highway much, I have been doing PMs every 6 months. Would this be the best way to go about PMs? truck is only used locally and travels about 15-30 miles daily. she's more on the idle side most of the time

are you planning on doubling the keepers/ wishbones? is it even possible?

You have to pull ur cam out and slide followers down into cam journal area.
