I like that you point out how lucky you are with everything and elaborating on that. A lot of people just pretend like yea cool you should def move out of the country once in your life regardless how your situation is.

Yeah, I feel like that type of sentiment is really ignorant to others situations, not everyone is able to do these types of things (especially on a whim) and it's rlly thoughtless to be like "omg everyone needs to spend a year abroad in their lifetime"

The US literally preys on its own citizens. I have 150,000 dollars worth of student debt. So here, you can pay your loans back based on your income. This means if you have 0 income or meager income, you may not need to pay it back. However, it will still stay on your credit ( student loan debt doesn't fall off as other debt would over time). This also means you will be denied credit and loans for other things or have to pay a higher interest rate due to your debt-to-income ratio. Kids, Don't just jump into university right after high school if you aren't sure what you want to do. It will just end up costing you way too much and putting you behind your peers. Signed, an ex-teacher.

It's how America keeps the poor man poor. I went to a trade school which has it's benefits and it's downfalls, but I'm happy I went. A lot of my friends owe so much in student debt and will probably be paying it off til the retire.

Wait student loan debt doesbn't fall off in the US? That's messed up. I live in in the UK and it eventually gets written off.

@Alyssa_James 3 жыл бұрын
@@Nanancay Nope. In America it's usually thing that are considered a hard inquiry that fall off you credit. Hard inquiry being opening a credit card account, renting/leasing apartments/housing and medical bills. If you close accounts it'll improve your credit majorly. But the thing is in order to have a "credit score" you need to open an account such as student loans or a credit card. For it you don't do that you're considered a 0 or as some put it

If anyone's wondering about more specific numbers for finances, altho mine was different countries I moved from the UK to Aus to train as a psych and it cost me about £4,000 just to get out here and get started. This included costs for: visa, flights, my psych application, hostels when I arrived (and emergency airbnbs as there were delays with finding an apartment), and buying a £500 car once i realised the public transport in this town was non existent. The visas were actually the cheapest part (less than £500 in total for 2 visas as I changed from a working holiday to training visa which was more suited to what I was doing). My psych stuff cost around £800 so subtract that if you're not looking at a job that needs registration/applications. Definitely second the advice about saving waaaay more than you think you need - so many unexpected costs will come up. I saved up gradually over a couple years then lived with family for 6 months before where rent/bills were cheap and I could save a lot in a short space of time.

It's great to hear you're liking the Italian lifestyle :) It's a shame your first visit had to be during these crazy times and you can't see more of the country yet, but I'm sure when lockdown is over you'll be able to make up for it and practice your new Italian speaking skills in many cities :D I feel like mother tongue English teachers have always been sought-after over here (I know there have been times when I could have killed for one) so I think teaching is a very smart thing to do. Best of luck with everything! I'm sure before you know it you'll be starting a booktube channel in Italian ;)

Just a few quick things, while I completely agree with your points you raise regarding univerisity, HECS debt does accrue interest. If you log into your mygov account and connect the ATO account to it, you can check your HECS debt amount and every June interest may be charaged (it does depend on what year you signed up for HECS). So you could be in the position, like myself, of not earning enough to pay off the HECS debt but your HECS debt could be increasing by 2% every financial year.

@LilyCReads10

It wasn't difficult to apply online they make it really simple and straightforward. You do need to provide documents to show your ability to remain out of the country for over 3 months. Usually with these type of applications they get granted extremely fast if all the info is there. Mine was approved in 13 minutes. However for people applying to leave for less than 3 months and under one of the other categories, it usually takes much longer (a few days?)

At the moment I’m pretty sure it’s only for leaving - the federal government is being pretty strict on who can and can’t enter and the reasons for that. As someone who did what Lily did, you should consider seriously what kind of person you are and weather you bare to live away from family and friends. If your relationship ends you will be very alone in a foreign land, no matter how many people you meet there. And you have to be okay with that. In hindsight I regret moving to the specific country because my boyfriend lived there and would not recommend to anyone. Move if you are single- it will be better.

@@LilyCReads10 ahh okay, the confusion stemmed from how long I thought you'd stay in Italy. I understood Aus has an agreement for work holiday visas with Italy, but I thought you wanted to stay in Italy for good and I was thinking that would be difficult with only a work holiday visa haha

@@eriktm6163 Yeah it would be impossible with a working holiday visa haha. Also since it's a visa you can only apply for once

@@LilyCReads10 well still, at least you can do the work holiday visa 😂 i'm from Spain and my girlfriend is from the USA so she couldn't do it unfortunately, but she comes to Spain 3 months of the year and I go to the US during the summer. It seems the only option we have is to get married after we graduate to live in the same country without visa restrictions. I understand the struggle 😂

She didn't claim otherwise. She said that Australia is a first world country, which means that due to being from there, she's more welcome in other countries than she would be if she weren't from a first world country.

Hey, an italian here.... I don' t know your thoughts but in Italy people don't care about your skin colour. One of my dearest friends is black and he has been living in Milan for 15 years

@Marco Chiacchiari trovami uno stato che accoglie migliaia di clandestini all'anno e concede loro asilo politico senza restrizioni come l'Italia e forse meriterai un' altra risposta da me

I wonder what makes you think being Black would be a problem in Italy? If you're from the US, you'd even get rid of all the institutional anti-Black racism.

There's a part of me that hates how she's from Australia (one of the most difficult countries to go for anybody isn't rich ) and just out of nowhere decides to go to Italy for fun and doesn't even work

glad you acknowledged your privilege because the "i'm not privileged because i have a full time job" thing you said in your last video was extremely ignorant

where i was born (and the job opportunities that come with that) and the ability to travel are undeniable privileges, so i did want to recognise that. Though in my last video i was responding the ppl calling me 'spoilt and rich' assuming i came from a wealthy background to be able to move the way i did. I never claimed to not be privileged in my last video, but i did clarify that i worked for everything i have.
