The thing with edd is he was a good speaker and educator, he could convey what was happening to the viewer very easily.

When he fitted the cam belt he didn't check to make sure he had it lined up with the crank and the camshaft timing marks. This is most important if he didn't want to ruin the motor.

Am I missing something but when I did gaskets it was a complete no no to use a metal scraper, then When he starts using abrasive on the surfaces, I couldnt believe it. And then wire brush all the debris into the engine...And BTW did they wash out the sump residue and clean the oil suction pipe filter?

So you just replace the timing belt without checking that the timing marks are aligned first ? I've been doing it wrong all these years then !

I like how a 924 is considered a classic by any stretch of the imagination. The engine is out of a late model vw Vanagon, so those parts are relatively cheap. They even went to the trouble of hiding the "VW" cast in the head along with doing their best to disguise incomplete vw part numbers. This was a budget sports car offered as an alternative to a 944 or a 911. It's a fancy Jetta.

No mentioning of cleaning out the sump? Or that he is using a copper brush and not a steel one?and why? And most importantly what to do when changing a timing belt: looking for the timing marks before removing the belt and while installing it, so you don’t mess up the inner workings of your engine. Nope... that’s why people love Edd, even if he complains a lot about working on a budget, because let’s face it, we all dislike working on a budget while working for a man interested in nothing but profit.

All three guys are great - can everyone relax, it's a TV series - an entertaining and informative production.

forgot the little piece of gasket paper that goes on the wide side of the oil pan near the flywheel. it keeps the pan equally parallel to the block mating surface. not a big deal though just nitpicking.

Ant seems seems like a competent mechanic but, I really miss Ed China. Ed had a much better/ clearer speaking voice and I understood every word he said but, with Ant, I can't understand half of what he is saying. Ant needs to speak just a bit slower For this reason i no longer watch WD

Ed China - WAS wheeler Dealers. HE was the magic ingredient of the programme. What do you get if you take out the magic ingredient and replace it with a lesser component? You get a fail. I used to watch WD for years. I've never watched it since Ed left and its become a shadow of its former glory. WD is now dead. I won't even watch the above clip. Mike - you royally messed up - big time. But you're too arrogant to admit it. Now you've got to live with that realisation. I am an Ex WD fan.

I want to put a 5 cylinder turbo in one of these... Add the GTP body kit and you would have one wild ride.

Ed had an air of flamboyance to him, he spoke clearly and was clearly passionate about what he did. Ant is as dull as dishwater, and what's with the 'yo'? The show has lots it's magic, that is absolutely clear. It isn't as engaging or enjoyable anymore. I can only compare it to how Top Gear went when they got rid of Clarkson. They need to call time on this show now.

It’s a pain in the ass to take off the oil pan on them because there is about 17 bolts holding it on

switch to 5 speed from a turbo ..need to cut 3/4..1 inch off shift rod... check oil galley and line on head rear pistion is one that fails.. if you can find them euro spec pistions and 5 bolt front spindles and rears can be a bolt on job ftom a later 924 or 931..oh newer belts are dirreactional now some vendors

I love the socket head cap screws on the oil pan. Touches like that make Porsches (yeah I know, Audi) a joy to work on. I also like Edd, Mike, AND Ant. They’re all talented and entertaining.

British programme with British presenter's, shown in America. The British public made this show great , feels like they sold out. Ed was the best part of the show.all very American now like the F1. Spoils it.

Oh, how I miss Edd more and more. This Ant is not a real mechanic like Edd or Fuzz but some kind of actor. They never show you how Ant is doing a job but only short takes when he is turning a bolt or lifting a cylinder head. I believe that they don’t show more detailed handling because every real motorman/woman would immediately see that he is not used to do the job. And what disturbs me most, is that he doesn’t fix old parts but assembles new ones which is easy. Overhauling old parts is just the most important to show. People can spare a lot of money by fixing old engine parts. Edd told us every details how we can spot faults and how to adjust everything. Ant is just doing things somebody has showed him. I may be wrong but as an old petrolhead (50 yrs of car tinkering) I can see that Ant is not used to do car servicing. Ant has good presentation skill but only when scripted I think.

When Edd left wheeler dealers i thought the show was dead and buried. But i was completely wrong Ant Antstead is on another level very clever especially like the way he explains things with diagrams. But they will always be people out there who do not like change .

I'm fine with Ant being on WD; he was great on "For the Love of Cars". I wish he'd wear protective gloves though. Oil is evil o the skin and wearing them should be set as an example. It _was_ Edd's choice to go. However, even with Edd, I didn't like it being in the US, with all talk in $ and not £.

Watching him squirt all that RTV on to the block is pretty cringy. And he does this one minute after telling us about the risks of excess globs of RTV loose inside an engine. WTF? He should've used something better that doesn't do that, like Threebond.
