அருமை சார்! நான் 1964லில் மாதராசுக்கு போனவன். தற்போது எனது வயது 76. சென்ற ஆண்டு வரை மாதம் ஒரு முறையாவது சென்னைக்குப் போய் வருவது உண்டு. சார் சொல்லிய வரலாறு என் மனதில் மிகவும் பயன் உள்ளதாக அமைந்தது. சார் சொல்லிய விதம் மிகவும் அருமை. நன்றி.

சார் வணக்கம் பொதுவாக வரலாற்று பாடம் படிக்க, கேட்க போரடிக்கும். ஆனால் நீங்கள் சொல்லும் விதம் மிகவும் அருமை. கடைசி வரை ஆர்வத்துடன் கேட்க, கவனிக்க முடிந்தது

When we bought house in 1970 it was Pois garden. Not Poes garden.

Wonderful reminiscences of Chennai's history and development. I am 71 years old and have nice memories of the Mylapore, Teynampet, Boat Club, Foreshore Estate etc in the 50's and 60's. Thanks a lot Sriram Sir. You have done a yeoman service to record past history for eternity!!

My father came to Madras during 1938 and started working for Burmah Shell at Esplanade and he used to go by Tram from Mylapore, Triplicane till 1955 after that the tram services were dismantled and even today those strong Tram tracks are lying underground at 20+ feet in TH Road and Walaja Rd... Madras was Green and cool with heavy rains during October and November and there was no water problem till 1975.

It's so interesting to listen to you and know the difference of then and now. I lived in Mylapore Luz avenue. I can never forget my stay there and travelled through the city for 5 years. I came to chennai in 2016. Hated to stay here fr two years. And then started to like chennai due to my local friends. He took me to many interesting/fascinating places in chennai. Im in love with chennai and planning to settle here. Some how im fascinated to old constructions. OldTemples and churches. Its really great to see this video. Now ill keep this video as reference and visit all the places he has discussed. Loved it. Would love to hear how chennai city has expanded, names were given to the places . And history of mahabalipuram etc

Our house was built in 1960, first dwelling unit in our surroundings. Our house was surrounded by bushes. I was told that previously the whole area was a paddy field .During the rainy season it looked like Venice.

I pretty much remember every street in an around my house in Adyar. Left Madras (not Chennai) 25 year ago and this video being back many memories. Narration is nostalgic.
