Time to go even deeper into the Nintendo 64's library of platformers! They may be forgotten, but are they actually good?

@AntDude. On the subject of lesser-known platformers, look up the game “Scaler”. It was released multi platform for GCN and PS2 (and Xbox?), and features a kid that gets turned into an electric chameleon by an evil corporation run by other-dimensional lizard men. Yeah. The early 2000s were weird too. Edit: it seems that Nitro Rad did a video on the game 4 years ago, but I’d appreciate hearing your view on the game.

It absolutely pains me that the N64 titles never made it onto any virtual consoles. Whyyy? Especially since I never got to play Goemon’s Great Adventure. Also, thinking about it, Snowboard Kids never got put on the virtual console either (I think). Dammit.

TheJadeFist True. The only problem there though is that I don’t have access to a CRT TV. N64 games don’t look good at all to me on a HD TV, but more importantly I’m pretty sure there’s some sort of input delay that happens with new TVs. Like, the last two times I played Mario Kart 64 on a HD TV I was absolutely dreadful at it (to the point I was consistently missing item boxes and hitting all bob-ombs). I thought maybe I was just really rusting and perhaps was too use to the modern day Mario Kart physics or something. But the very last time I played it was on a CRT, and I was doing _much_ much better, like performing at my old skill level almost. So there’s got to be something going on with new TVs, not sure how else to explain it.

Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon is easily one of my top favorite games I've ever played. It's like Mario 64 and Zelda Ocarina of Time fused together and created an awesome game with multiple characters to play and one of my overall favorite soundtracks of all time. I could always go back and play through it again.

You finally covered my three favorite N64 games! Both Goemon games and Rocket are some of the best platformers the console has to offer. I also noticed you didn't complain about not being able to control the camera on the first Goemon game... Because you totally can! It always bothers me that nobody seems to figure out that you can move it around with the C-Buttons while holding down R. Tell it to Nitro Rad before he makes his review, will ya?

Gzilla10 Yep. Think maybe my family had just gotten our first home computer, so with it being the new thing of course I’d want games on it! In hindsight though it didn’t run the smoothest on it, and it would have been much better controlled with a control stick as opposed to the arrow keys, but alas. Also, dude, Snowboard Kids!!!

Yay, you talked about Goemon! Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon was such a big part of my childhood. I love nerding out about it because I almost never get to. It's my favorite bizarre, hokey-pokey series. Like, where else am I going to show up to the final boss and be treated to a literal opera piece featuring the enemies as background dancers? You did a great service with the way you covered it. It's actually that weird of a game. If content of it didn't exist, I could be convinced that game was a fever dream
