Thanks for sharing the informative video. As you mention to drop 3 db per increase in sub count , there is another recommendation that gets floated , that if the subs are connected independently to separate outputs as in the case of avm 70 ( for 2 subs) and 90 (for 4 subs), they need to be set at 75 db and the 3 db reduction per extra sub need not be done. The 3db drop should be done when subs are connected on the same output in parallel. This keeps confusing me as some set of ppl mentions your approach and other set says drop 3db only when the subs are on the same output and split parallel . I follow your approach but it would be highly appreciated if you might share your thoughts on It as well. Another, quick question would be, did you use the updated beta genesis 1.6.4 and host 0.68. Does the updated beta takes care of the 12 db trim issue. Do you have any insight on any particular reason that this high trim values are more prevalent with the beta and not with the current release version
@AudioAdvice
@AudioAdvice 2 жыл бұрын
We discussed with Anthem before producing the video best practices for doing the quick measure and they agreed that it is best to drop by 3db per extra sub in quick measure before running ARC--this is also what we have found. We don't have enough data points to confirm whether the 12db issue happens more with the beta or not. It is primarily related to adjusting for amplifier gain and speaker sensitivity.

I have an AVM 60. Curious to know, does the AVM 90 let you adjust volume, treble and bass by tenths of points? You really need this level of fine tuning with these processors. I sent Anthem this suggestion a couple of years ago.

GREAT video! I bought AVM70 recently and I plan to purchase 4 Subs (finalized Rythmik FVX12). How do you suggest I hook them up? I am also wondering if I should get miniDSP HD. If I did buy it, how should I hook them up? 2 fronts to Sub 1 and 2 rear to Sub 2 of AVM 70? Or do you suggest I skip miniDSP and hook them up directly to AVM70 via Y splitters? But AVM70 won't calibrate all 4 individually. I could have gone with AVM90 but it wasn't available then and it is bit out of my budget.

Then found setting under Preferences for Professional mode. Once I switched to that I was able to go through adjustments, however, after completing a few tweaks I don't see the option for phase adjustment. Maybe AVM 90 doesn't allow? I double checked I'm running latest version of Genesis which currently is 1.5.4. Also made sure latest firmware is loaded on AVM 90. Still need some tweaks but already I can't believe how much better my speakers sound (Paradigm Prestige 95f towers, 55C center and 25s surrounds). Upgrade is from AVM 60 and mind blowing. To adjust speaker levels in arc gen, do you have to run all the mic positions again? as can’t seem to get to the “adjusting targets” tab ? 2)to receive and play Dolby Amos content does it have to be set to Dolby Surround mode? And the same for DTS? (DTS Neural:X or DTS Virtual?) Or does it automatically adjust to content? Appreciate any advice. Kind regards Phil

Hello. A question please. During Arc measurement, the instruction at the bottom says : position the mic all at ear level from position 2 to 5. But Anthem guide says position mic 6-12" under and above ear level for position 2 to 5. I'm confused. Is it Anthem error? Also at the Arc set up page before Arc measurements. The "FRONT LEFT DISTANCE". Do we have to measure distance from the front left speaker tweeter to the ear level of position #1 and enter it ourself? Thank you very much.
@AudioAdvice
@AudioAdvice 2 жыл бұрын
You should get the beta version of ARC, it will do auto distance and has subwoofer blending as well anthemarc.com/downloads/beta.php. The position of the mic will be a little dependent on your ears in relation to the seat, sometimes too low will totally block the rear or back height speakers. It is not super critical if you just get close. Thanks for watching

Great video as always Scott...unfortunately I too have the elevated trims. In fact some of the trims are at the max +12 but I can see on the ARC file that it was even at +15!!! The workaround I did was to make sure the master volume stayed at -31 instead of the default -37 when doing ARC calibration. I noticed that during ARC when I left the master volume at the default -37.5 master volume I was only getting about 59dB SPL. If I may ask what is the method that you use to solve this problem? Thanks.
@AudioAdvice
@AudioAdvice 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. If you are having that issue, it only happens if you are using power amps that have really different input sensitivities or your speakers are vastly different in sensitivity. If this is the case, you need to get a an editor that allows you to edit the file, The editor is a json viewer: jsonformatter.org/json-viewer - Using this viewer, you can choose to upload a file. Choose your ARC file and it will load into legible text. From there CTRL+F to search for "level". You'll see a measured level and the level ARC is choosing to balance to. Subtract the balanced level (generally 75dB) and you'll get the full dB gain it wanted. Then you can manually adjust all of the gains to get the correct differences. For instance, it may show the speakers it set at a max of +12 dB at 14 dB, you would then adjust all the other speakers down by 2 dB and upload the modified file. Thanks for watch

Planning on buying one. But my concern...used pioneer lx57 before and currently using x4800(which m planning to return)...in both the avr after room correction i always wanted to use their graphic equalizer to bring sound to my taste (mostly its a 'W' curve) ...while using equalizer pionner used to screw the subwoofer out while denon will not allow to increase the loudness beyond a point...pioneer atleast i could alter the speaker curves after calibration but denon no such option found...how about anthem in this regard...i like the deep bass ( below 40Hz and hate 2khz to 8khz boost which all avr set after calobration)? Help!!

You can make adjustments to the target curve, but you can not change it totally like you could with an equalizer. ARC is designed to get you closer to flat with some adjustments for people who want more or less bass/treble. Doing this is pretty technical and you would be best to purchase from a dealer with good tech support, like Audio Advice. We offer more detailed technical assistance when you purchase from us. Hope this helps

What if you want to increase the center gain, where would you make that adjustment ? Do you set the gain on the set speaker level tab first before moving on to the adjust target tab?
@AudioAdvice
@AudioAdvice Жыл бұрын
Apologies for taking so long to respond. For increasing the gain on your center its best to bring it up a couple of db in the set speaker level tab in ARC Genesis assuming you mainly just want to increase gain versus adjust the crossover. If you find its hard to listen to voices from the center, you should watch our video on how to set up and calibrate your center channel. You may find adjusting the center position or crossover may be all you need versus changing the level. Enjoy your Anthem and moving watching!

With a tv between them, you won't need to do the 20k correction that is helpful when speakers play through a perforated screen. However, there are some cases where correcting up to 20k can lead to some improvement in the upper frequencies even without a screen. So if you have the time and want to try it, go ahead. If you have saved your previous file, you can just revert back to the one that goes through 5k if you don't like the change.

Thanks for the informative video. I have been running ARC for 15 years but have a question (all software/firmware is up to date). I have a Paradigm Signature Sub 2 that came with a PBK Kit to calibrate the sub (and upload to it) before running ARC. I am having issues getting an answer from Anthem on whether or not it is ok to use the ARC mic to PBK/Calibrate and upload to the sub before running ARC Genesis as my PBK mic is no longer seen by my AVM 60. Back in the day this was a no no but now that ARC Genesis is PBK compatible it may be ok. I ask because after doing so my sub now cuts out at very high volume (for music). I sent the sub's amp in but it was determined that there is nothing wrong with the amp and they are now testing one of the woofers that made a scratching noise only during calibration, I could not hear the scratching during regular use. I wonder if a bad voice coil would cause the sub to cut out at high levels?? So two questions I guess :)
@AudioAdvice
@AudioAdvice 2 жыл бұрын
Just to be clear. You have two mics. One that came with your 15 year old sub and one that came with your AVM 60. The sub mic is now bad? And on the sub cutting out what happens if you defeat ARC on the sub?

@studlygoorite5955 2 жыл бұрын
@@AudioAdvice Correct, the PBK mic is no longer recognized by ARC Genesis and I deleted the calibration I did from the AVM 60's ARC mic that I had recently uploaded to the Sub 2. My graphs are quit good I just wanted to make sure that I could use the regular ARC mic to calibrate and upload to the sub (before running ARC Genesis) instead of the PBK mic that is no longer recognized.....and if it's possible (or if anyone had heard of) a bad voice coil being the reason for a sub to shut down under high volume, because I could be a while back and forth with Anthem support if my woofer turns out to not be what is causing the sub to shutdown. Here it says that PBK is compatible with Genesis but it says nothing about using the ARC mic to do PBK's calibration www.paradigm.com/zh/pbk-software thanks :)

@AudioAdvice
@AudioAdvice 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching
