I love that Anderson is sipping a cola (with a slice of lemon) while Anthony went with a cold Asahi. Even their drinks choices give a hint of their personalities.

I first started watching Bourdain back when he did "No Reservations". He allowed me to travel the world with him, even while I was living paycheck to paycheck. His snarky dialogue, quirky references and philosophy on life were always great commentary to the always phenomenally filmed settings. I miss him, I miss Robin Williams, especially during times like these, where the world continues to make less sense day after day. R.I.P. 💔

I always wishes to meet him. I watched his shows late at night with my dad when my mother and sister were asleep. My dad was a cook- a chef, and he always gave me the details about what was going on in shows; food, politics, philosophy. I hope AB had a reason, and that his family understood. One day, I hope to ask.

Little Flower Hahaha.. especially when it’s cow’s stomach lining.. hahaha. I do agree w/ the respect comment, but this is what the two of them, as friends did. Anthony was always trying to get Anderson out of his comfort zone. It wasn’t ever done in a disrespectful way. Only, sometimes in a comedic way. Hahaha.

What I find most telling about this interview is the fact that no less than 30 seconds after Anthony explains how not eating the food of a culture that people give you is a form of rejecting them, Anderson, turns his nose up at Yakitori like a 5 year old that does not want to eat his spinach.
@XcaptainXobliviousX6 жыл бұрын
i mean, say what you will about his glass stomach, just a few seconds before that he tells a story about sneaking into Myanmar with the fukin KNLA to do a story on political dissidents in country. sure, id try yakitori, but you'd be in for a hell of an uphill battle to get me to visit foreign dictatorship.

My theory is that he had too much to drink that day and or night (he definitely was a drinker) and was overly emotional about some small mishap or bad news. We have all been there. Last night I had too much wine and cried myself to sleep because I lost a second contact in the span of a week.

If I had the chance to eat with Tony, I would gratfully sample anything offered. In fact one of the best meals of my life was eating at iron Chef Morimoto's restaurant, with him overseeing every aspect of our meal. I ordered Omakase, which is chefs choice, and specifically requested that he feel as free as he wanted to challenge my taste buds.It was flat out amazing. If given the chance, I would do the same with Tony hands down.

The crazy thing about some extreme picky eaters is that they will turn up their noses at high quality, exquisitely prepared foods simply because they're unfamiliar, but will be perfectly content to subsist on a diet of stuff like McNuggets or Hamburger Helper simply because they ARE familiar. They may be picky about WHICH foods they eat, but they're obviously not picky about whether such foods are in any realistic sense edible in the first place.

One of my favorite parts about traveling is trying new foods. Especially street food. I know a lot of non-adventurous eaters over here in the Philippines. To me, I think they are really missing out. I hope Cooper can branch out and get more adventurous. But that being said... even though I have been known to eat chicken knuckles, feet, and grilled intestines (isaw ay masarap!)... I do prefer "regular" chicken too, most of the time. :)

It's all about context and respect. I have no problem with any sort of sexuality and language etc etc.. but in a public forum in my opinion, it's distasteful no matter what the preferences are, some things just aren't good manners to discuss over the family dinner table. I'm not "grossed out" or anything I just find it out of place and disrespectful to the other people in the conversation that's all.

I know this is a decade after the fact, but to Anderson Cooper; If I ever get to shake your hand, I'd let you know that I'm so glad you got to meet Anthony Bourdain. It was always a dream of mine, since I was of the age of consciousness watching his shows with my dad. And, that I'm sorry AD left us too soon- I hope he went like Roger Williams, or Hunter S. Thompson, and one day, I'll ask him. And then, I'll tell him that I'm sorry for his decision. Then tell him I forgive him. And hopefully, my dad- in his prime- will bring the jeager bombs, and we'll go to Vietnam era Thailand and see my dad's maid Ow, and eat good food, and talk a out history, and shit on the Khemer Rouge. Mohegan sun is the place to be.
